  1. I hope you get Edwin. He is the best. Goes above and beyond what is required. I was in Sky suite 1214, 10th deck - Sky

I just decided to search EDWIN on the forum, as we have just returned from a superb cruise with him. Agree with all others, he is fantastic. We were in an Infinity RS. Oh if it were possible to reserve butlers as we do rooms ....

  2. Just returned from our first ever suite and it was wonderful. Our butler was superb, the perfect mix of caring AND professional. My best advice is to treat the staff w courtesy and respect and it will come back to you in spades. Our butler was way ahead of us just about every day and we largely followed his lead. We asked him to organise a small gathering (10 people ) with nibbles in our RS which he did beautifully, even in the eye of a vicious storm.

If we had had any further questions, there was a suite manager but we never needed to contact, other than to provide rave reviews.

    We were on Infinity.

  3. What happens on Celebrity when you go on as Select but will earn Elite while on the cruise? I've talked to CC and they said the Elite would not kick in until after the cruise you earn it. On another line in December, they told us that we would get the higher CC level ON the cruise where it is earned. Has anyone had this experience on Celebrity? Is it a ship by ship basis with the CC crew on board?

    thanks

You are upgraded on the following cruise.

  4. I wish I was on board a Celebrity ship right now (I bet we all do!) .. on our recent Infinity sailing I again saw that sign at the whirlpool stating, alongside the other rules, that support animals are not allowed in the water. I always hope they are being pro-active, and that no one has ever tried. :o I wanted to take a photo of it but I never took my phone in there - probably a wise move.

Anyway, there were a few "Chair Hogs" around, but no "Water Dogs" in sight.

  5. I don't agree, If they are able to maintain 18 knots, that's close to normal.

I'm not sure what the expectation is for the Captain, since both the current guests and upcoming guests were already made aware of the propulsion issue, if something has changed yes, but otherwise why would he bring it up?

From the facts posted it the weather was the issue that ultimately changed the schedule for the last two port changes unless I'm missing something.

As a passenger on the February 18 sailing , I'm hoping they don't change the schedule as it stands now, seems like it would accomplish nothing since biggest issue has been bad weather

    This.

  6. Wow!! We were on the cruise prior when the issues developed. Far from “dragging out” the schedule at the expense of passengers as has been said, I felt X were trying their best to have as many cruisers plans met as possible. I’ve seen some amazing photos of the icebergs sighted on the subsequent cruise and getting to Antarctica was surely a highlight? FWIW I’m also married to an attorney.. his advice - don’t waste your time and anyone else’s money.

Could you look at the same cruise alternative dates?

Hi Chemmo -thank you for your wise words. Using your thoughts and some lateral thinking, we now have the RS of our dreams, on an entirely different cruise to an albeit equally exciting destination! Very pleased.

  8. Appreciate it is probably ship by ship and CS and above. But for our first 3 cruises on Equinox, Reflection and Connie when we were preview, classic and select we received all the benefits of Elite.

These sailings were all post the introduction of Michael's as an exclusive lounge and I have to agree that MC is far preferable to the Elite happy hour. The new MC tea surpasses elegant tea aswell IMHO

  9. The answer is YES. I hold Elite+ status and have cruised with family members who did not hold this status but were booked in the same cabin with me. The cards for both individuals staying in the same cabin read Elite+. However, I was the only one to receive the coupons (either sheet or uploaded on card). Our passcards were checked at the entry each time we attended a CC event.

Thank you everyone for the feedback so far . Very useful. We are Elite but may have a non Elite pax next cruise. I would particularly love for them to be able to come to the Elite early evening drinks . Also Michaels Club of course!

  10. Hello.. a query on how a waitlist operates.

An X 2019 cruise we are interested in is currently sold out for the relevant category. We’re considering going on a waitlist. How does this work?

Do i need to keep watching or does Celebrity do it for us? If I do it, what is the best way to manage it? I’ve got a list of the cabins I’m interested in - do I just keep doing mock bookings on X, or is there another tip?

At this stage, we will possibly book CC (hoping to move to RS). Is the waitlist first in, first served? Or is there a weighting somehow whereby you can only upgrade certain levels at a time?

    Thank you.

(And apologies for three posts in a week, I’m officially CC addicted.)
