  1. Give me the other side of this debate 100%.

    Valparaiso is an amazing town.

Nothing wrong with Santiago (aside from the smog) but Valparaiso as a destination is world-class. Worth a week, never mind a day.

I wouldn’t disagree :-) . It was more just the time they might have available? And ease of transport to SA from V on the day of the cruise .

  2. You’ll love Infinity, we just got off our second cruise on her. Propulsion issue should all be sorted after the dry dock in April .

Personally, love Concierge - nice cabins and great staff. Drinks pkge would be classic - you can also pay the difference per drink if you see something out of your $$ that you like.

Love infinity so much we have just booked a third cruise on her, smaller ship feel and so friendly . M class is great - enjoy !

  3. Cabin: 6140

    Floor: 6

    Class: RS

    Ship: Infinity

    Location: Starboard Aft

    Bed: Facing Stern

    Noise: Nil

Comments: We were delighted with this room, as our first time in a Suite. So much cupboard storage we were in danger of losing things! Lovely balcony, with jacuzzi, great location near aft elevators. Excellent room staff. Enjoyed it so much we have booked another RS (6133) for next cruise.

  4. We are embarking in San Antonio and disembarking in BA. There is a lot of discussion from others who stay in Santiago pre-cruise. I'm curious as to why do they don't stay in Valparaiso pre-cruise? Coming from Canada do we fly into Santiago and stay there for 2 nights or Santiago 1 night and go to Valparaiso for the night before the cruise, or Valparaiso 2 nights?

One more pointer .. if you are embarking in San Antonio, I would not go to Valparaiso at all. There is lots to see in Santiago and you can go from there easily to SA.

  5. We debated this ourselves and eventually decided to stay that 2 nights in Santiago. As it turned out, our cruise was one of those shifted from Valparaiso to San Antonio so I was glad we had not decided to go to Valparaiso! Santiago is approximately equi distant from both ports, was a lovely place to visit and easy to organise a couple of day tours from. Getting from Valparaiso to San Antonio might not have been quite so easy?

The first day, we went out with Leo from Private Guides Chile , and the second day his company organised our transfer to San Antonio which also took in a wine tasting.

In Santiago, we stayed at the Quiral - very nice indeed.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  6. We just enjoyed several excellent tours with Edgar's team, at Usuhaia, Punta Arenas and Punta del Este. Some others also worked with him at Montevideo. They were all excellent but I particularly enjoyed Ushuaia, and getting outdoors. The tour there featured walks in the National Parks and a really good overview from our extremely knowledgeable guide. If you need a break from the crowds on a cruise ship and some time in nature, I thoroughly recommend Edgar's operation:

  7. Very useful information so far everyone! So if we added them now to be safe, and even if they subsequently pulled out .. that might seem to be safer? A - they get the same perks and pricing. B - they get a berth.

The cruise is a long way off, as in Late 2019 .. we just booked on board but may want to add our son.

  8. Hello .. if considering adding a passenger to a stateroom (which does have the potential capacity), how late in the process can this happen?

For instance, if the third passenger can't yet commit to the timetabling, but you want to sign up the deposit for a cruise which is some way off.

Can you add their name in later, and Celebrity (through the TA) rhen advises of the additional costs? Does it affect your initial booking?

    TIA as always.

  9. We loved Luminae AND the menu. There were many different kinds of choices over the 14 day menu. We only had one day where we opted for the MDR menu.

The staff there is so accommodating, they will pretty much get you whatever you want as long as it's on the ship. One of the people next to us had a steak from Tuscan Grill almost every night.

We can't wait to go back again on the Eclipse in just over 90 days!!! :D :D

This sums it up for us, we are currently on Infinity and Luminae under Vlad has been superb.

  10. Four hour delay .. thousands of unsettled passengers variously chanting and clapping, it was quite exciting in the end! Film crews when we came out and live crosses to the local news, it was pretty big. All good now.

  11. Is anyone else currently caught up in the Buenos Aires baggage handlers strike? We could have a Cruise Critic meet n greet at Carousel 9! Even the locals are getting restless — the delays are huge. 808cf3c410fa83a9c64c4d52a0d1aec1.jpg

  12. Hi all - can anyone who has used Guideschile (Leo) advise what he dropped you at the ship after a Santiago hotel pick up and wine tour?

We are leaving from SA rather than V but I’m hoping to get an estimate of time.

I’ve emailed him several times but no reply on this aspect

    Thanks, Astrocat
