  1. I currently have a promotion that has $200 obc and dinner for two at a specialty restaurant. They are now offering free gratuities which is more than the obc (10 night ) but it does not include dinner. The difference is $59.00... which is a wash with the dinner.

The new promo for gratuities does not say new bookings. If I switch do I have to give up the dinner?

    Thanks

The new promo also includes a $300 air credit

  2. Booked a cruise under the Captains Circle Launch Savings, 8/9 months in advance. Thought there would be some sort of discount involved booking in advance. We do have a mini-suite, not even Club. Received the final notice only to find that the current advertised price was £600 per person (£1200) less. Phoned before paying the balance to query and to cut a long story short ended up paying the reduced price. So in future I would certainly not be in any rush to book early despite any 'savings', seems like hard work when you have to monitor prices.

We always book 12 months in advance, but use a TA. As the prices decline 4th TA keeps me updated and takes advantage of the declining price when they are beneficial. Sometimes the cruise line drops the price but in order to take advantage of the price drop you may have to give up some of the benefits you currently have, such as OBC. The lat price drop on the Caribbean Princess require me to give up $700 OBC. THAT was not a good deal for us.

  3. Last month, we had put a deposit on a Holland Alaska cruise for next year, which including the trip insurance. We decided to use Princess instead for next year, and cancelled the Holland booking today. While the booking deposit was 100% refunded ($1200), the $518 trip cancellation insurance was not. I guess I didn't read the fine print, and was so used to Princess' generous policy of everything being refunded (if refundable deposit) if before final payment date. :(:( Moral: read the fine print, and stick with Princess.

Even with princess you would not have recovered trip insurance. My TA was alway advised me not to purchase insurance before the terms of the cruise contract requires.

  4. I am aware that the Dolphin Deck on Emerald Princess has most of the mini suites. But I do not believe those mini suites have covered balconies. There seems to be a few mini suites on Emerald Deck (one deck below). Has anyone had experience with those cabins? Are the balconies covered and is there much noise coming from the Fusion Club directly below them? I appreciate any information you can give me.

    Thanks,

    Marilee

We always book a mini suite on deck 8 (Emerald Deck), because they are covered. We usually book E721 and have never experience any noise from the lounge on deck 7. We don't like an uncovered balcony because there is no privacy from the peepers on deck 10.

  5. I have read horror stories about Effy jewelry purchased on Princess ships. Now I’m wondering about the quality of watches sold on the ships. Does anyone have experience with purchasing a watch while on a Princess ship? On my upcoming cruise I have a large amount of OBC and I thought that my wife may be interested in getting a new watch.

    Better off going to Wal-Mart.

  6. I just checked with United for a flight out of Newark to Seattle on June 8. It is scheduled on my Princess itinerary as 11:30 am. United said it was changed to 11:10. Why wasn’t I notified by Princess? And EZAir recommends flights 11:30 am forward. Is this normal?I’m getting nervous now about using EZair. Tried to call Princess today but they are closed

    Thanks for your feedback[/quote

EZAir by princess isn't final until your final payment, so until that date nothing is confirmed. Once you make your final payment your air fare is confirmed, at that time princess will communicate changes to your flight changes.

  7. hi going on Regal and I was doing required info on personaliser and it stated need to bring vaccination certificates, now I searched help pages and can't find more info, we are from Uk any ideas?

Also on another post someonementioned requesting bathrobes via cruise personaliser, I have looked but again can't see anywhere I can make that request, again any suggestions?

    Thank you

Cruise personalized under your profile. You can request your bed configuration, time for dinner, number of table mates, an robes

  8. Just got off the caribbean Princess and she has major problems with speed and shortened port times but the issue that was unacceptable was pagers for Club Class with a 25 minute wait. I was under the impression the CC was a minimal wait. They stated that everyone wanted to eat at the same time that night. Well wasn't that the issue with the MDR and why CC was introduced for a fee to avoid the wait times.

Paying extra $800 to$1000 per person for a club class mini suite is outrageous. As you just experienced

  9. 12 day Emerald RT Alaska out of LA. Have favorite mini on Emerald but it does create some vibrations. Considering going to Dolphin for interest in new location ...is extra 2 K worth that “expanded menu?” & different environment?

Practical side says no; but then we starting to like more

From the cruise ship, & the reviews on Emerald have been less than exciting.

    Feedback appreciated.

    Barbara

Not sure why any one would pay $500 to $900 per person more for the same size mini suite just to get two half bottles of wine and a special seat in the dinning room.

  10. The broker tried to talk us out of it..."bad investment, you won't make any $$".

No sure why a broker would tell you it a bad investment. I bought at $48 per share, on Feb 2, it was up to $70 plus per share. That's up over $22 per share. No bad in my opinion

  11. We booked our next cruise for April 1st 2018 under a 3 for free promotion and got a really good deal. We are now thinking of changing the date of our cruise to a few weeks earlier and hate to lose the promo. Does anyone know how often they have that promotion or when the next one will be?

Check with your TA (travel agent). They should be able to tell you if the 3 for free can be moved over

  12. I have already booked the Caribbean Princess for the Panama Canal for January 2019. But with the ongoing propulsion issues on the Caribbean Princess should I switch it to the Island Princess? It's the same ports of call. Seems odd that they don't expect to fix the issues with the Caribbean Princess until a year and a half from now. I personally liked the looks of the Caribbean over the Island. But I also don't want to skip ports and be slowed down to much either. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Island Princess was been choked up to add 234more staterooms. I would choose the Coral Princess over the Island Princess.

  13. The showers are the same size on all the Grand Class ships so there's no way to avoid that other than upgrading to the bathtub in the mini-suites or the shower in the full suites. Yes, the showers are small but somehow, thousands of people cope with them every day. If you're larger than maybe 300 lbs., you might have a problem. You can always use the showers in the gym too. They're much more capacious.

The recent reviews that I've seen have been very complimentary of the newly renovated Caribbean Princess, especially regarding the new dining options. Take ALL reviews, good and bad, with a grain of salt. You can find negativity everywhere if you look for it.

Is the Ocean Medallion program that important to you? If it is, then cancel. Otherwise, I think you'll never notice you don't have it. It will be like a normal cruise with a cruise card. Frankly, I think it'd be a lot easier because you don't have to learn the new technology. Just cruise as usual. ;)

Nice reply. We are on the Caribbean P on Nov 25th. Have sail on the Grand Class ships several time and have enjoyed each cruise. As you said their are good and bad reviews. IMHO the Grand Class are great ships.

  14. Am aware that the tips you pay upfront go into a tip pool to be shared fleet wide. If you give someone a cash tip for special service are they required to put it in the pool?

Tips are shared shop wide not fleet wide.

Yes you can tip extra in cash engine it directly to the prison you want to thank. That does not get added to the top pool.

  15. Complimentary mini bar set up is composed of small quantity alcohol and beer and other non -alcoholic beverages. It is free but no replenishment

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    That's elite passengers only.

  16. I am very excited about the Sky and look forward to my first voyage on her. I also find comfort in the Grand class ships and how I feel at home on them. At this point I think Princess is doing a great job in (slowly) updating their ships but keeping the same "feel". I go on a Princess Cruise because of the ability to relax. There is always plenty to do, but to me a larger, more crowded ship with zip lines, wave pools, carousels and the like just does not attract me. I am happy there are lines that have those things so people can choose, but I am also very glad that Princess is staying the course for the most part.

I agree 100 percent. In not into zip lines, wave surfing, ice skating and the like. I cruise to relax and get away from high intense activities.

    Thanks Princess.

  17. I will have $300 from the current Princess booking, $50 from my travel agent, and $100 from a Future cruise booking. Total is $450. I'm frankly not sure if I will use all of it--even though I know it will easily cover my gratuities.

Is any refundable or should I just buy drinks for everyone?

Not sure why you think you won't use all your OBC. Shore your cost around $100 per person. A trip to the spa is around $125 for massage or facial. OBC can be used up pretty quick.

  18. Cruise insurance should cover it. I always get the insurance just in case?

Cruise insurance only comes into play after your primary care insurance. What ever your primary cars insurance DOESN'T cover, your cruise insurance should cover.

I had this experience two years ago and it's a real pain. However, after speaking with my primary (medicare), and secondary (blue cross), blue cross covered the entire bill, $1,290.00, the cruise insurance was not involved for me. However, I would never sail without the cruise insurance just in case

  19. Yes, the Princess insurance covers all accident medical expenses up to $10,000 or $20,000 depending on which level you purchase.

Be advised, princess insurance comes into play only after you medicare, primary insurance coverage. Princess insurance will cover everything the primary insurance doesn't up to their threshold.

I had to use it back in 2016 on a 15 day hawaiian cruise.

  20. Looking for the specialty dinning recommendations on Grand Princess to celebrate wedding anniversary. When is better to reserve: on website or after boarding the ship?

    Thanks

You should have NO Problem waiting to book on board, unless you want the first night, then book in advance.
