  1. Does anyone know if the new Sky Princess will be like the Royal and Ruby or will she resemble the Majestic Princess? I noticed that the Emerald Deck is different on the Majestic in that it has mini suites on that deck whereas the Royal/Ruby don't. I'm thinking of booking on the new ship but would like to know which layout she will have.

Its the same as Majestic Princess

  2. We've got a Circle Caribbean 14 night cruise booked for January 2019.

But I just checked the Princess website and there's NOTHING listed for the CB after May 2018? Anyone know what's up?

Check again. We are booked on Nov 25, 2018, 14 day circle the caribbean. Just checked, I was able to see the cruise date.

  3. Does anyone have information as to when this is scheduled and what they are planning to do to the ship? TIA

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Just got off the Star on 29 Nov 17. Saw a lot of mattress on the pier being loaded on board. The ships interior was in great shape, only minor fixed needed. Exterior need some paint. So maybe some updates to the specialty restaurants. But nothing major needed.

We had a great 15 day cruise to the Hawaiian Islands, however that weather could have been warmer.

  4. Does anyone know what size pocket knife will be allowed on board? On our last cruise, my husband had his pocket knife held by security for the cruise?

    Thanks.

    Lil

If you can't take it on a plane, you can't take it on the Ship.

  5. Just changed/added to our booking for next week.

Premier Beverage Package $68.99 per person, per day

Enjoy a wide range of drinks for $59.99 per day plus a 15% gratuity. The Premier Beverage Package includes any individual beverage item such as fountain soda, bottled water, cocktails, spirits, wine by the glass, beers, coffee and tea, up to $12 (retail value). A 25% discount is also offered on all bottles of wine when purchased in bars, dining room or specialty restaurants.

Just got off Star Princess and had the ultimate bev package. Bottle water was removed from the package. One liter cost 9.20, 1/2 liter is 4.60.

Bottles of wine discount was reduced from 40% to 25%. The cost is $68.90 witch includes the 15% grats. Also you are limited to 15 alcholic drinks per day, and if the bartender thinks your drink they will shut you off.

That being said, if you drink 5 to 6 alcholic drinks per day, it is a good deal.

  6. The insurance for medical, only takes effect after your own health insurance.

I gone I'll while on the Grand Princess, when I got home I contacted Medicare and my secondary insurance. Medicare doesn't cover illness outside the country or on a cruise ship, however, my secondary insurance covered 100% of the cost encurred, over $1100.00. The insurance you purchase from princess will cover anything you primary or secondary insurance doesn't cover.

But don't forget the princess insurance covers more than just health issues

    Hope this help

  7. Hello! I'm planning a cruise to Alaska as a surprise for my husband's 30th birthday and am having a difficult time choosing between the three Princess ships. I originally wanted to book the Star but the representative I spoke to recommended the island. After researching that more I found the coral and am now thinking that may

    be a better option.

    Things I know we want:

One way sail, northern seems preferred from reviews

    July or August travel

Adult oriented - we are leaving our baby behind and would prefer a more relaxing atmosphere with some nightlife

    Good food

    Observation areas

They all seem to offer similar port stops so I'm not picky about those but am open to recommendations. I'd love to hear from others that have traveled on one or more of these ships recently (<1 year).

Thank you kindly for your honest input!

Island princess has been chopped up to add more cabins.

    My choice is Ciral

  8. We are booked on a 15 day Hawaiian cruise. I know I get a $250.00 OBC, but my account only shows $50.00. My TA assured me I will get $250, but I would feel better if I saw it in writing.

The cruise is only :D 423 days away, so I have time. Just looking for information without bothering my TA.

Go to cruise personnalize. You should be able to see all you OBC

  9. Iam on the Ruby right now. Two nights agoI ordered a $9 drink from the menu which of course has a 15% gratuity added. I was under the impression that the AIBPcovered any drink priced $10 or less. Soimagine my surprise when the $9 drink is NOT INCLUDED since the total pricewith gratuity is $10.35 which was billed to my folio. So warning for all AIBP users, the totalprice INCLUDING GRATUITY must be less than $10. Princess has increased the price of their drinks so no quite a few arebeyond the $10 limit on the AIBP.

Just checked the rules for AIBP. Drinks up to $10.00. Grays are prepaid, with the exception for bottle wine purchases. Bottle wine purchases get a 40% discount on bottles under $100.00. Hope this helps

  10. It all would depend on the price point and what the real extras are. We are Elite level so what is in the description is repetitive of some of those perks. Time will tell.

Two half bottles of win and a separate sitting area in the main dinning room is not worth $750 per person for the same mini suite in Can get on deck 8 aft. On the star Nov 2017 cabin e721 is 3199 per person but club class is 4299 per person. That is an exspensive bottle of win. Shame shame princess

  11. Just came home from the Star on 12/20 (goodness, that was yesterday )

    15 days to Hawaii - 12/5 to 12/20.

No issues at all. Cabin was fine, didn't see much wear and tear on furniture throughout the ship.

The usual rust here and there, can't keep metal from rusting on the ocean.

There was a "shattered" window on Lido deck near one of the pools (safety glass, of course, with some kind of plastic overlay to keep foolish people from playing with it.

Saw carpets being cleaned constantly, windows, too.

I wouldn't worry. They keep all the ships up as best they can routinely.

Hi JF, glad to hear the good news about the Star. Only 330 day till14 Nov 2017. Looking forward to our cruise away at the Outfitter. Stay safe till then

  12. out of curiosity I wondered how many cabins a steward would look after.

Google says it was between 20-35

So just for an example lets say, 28, now if we tip £10.23 per person, and lets say 2 person per room, that's £20.46 per cabin per day, therefore:

    28 x 20.46 = £572.88 per day

    14 x 3572.88 = 8,020.32 for a 14 day cruise

Does a steward really earn that much?

1st cabin stewards on deal with 10 to 15 cabins. The current tripping policy is 12.50 per day per person. Of that 12.50 per day the cabin steward receives 4.00 per day per person. So that is 8.00 per cabin times

15 cabins max equals 120.00 per day. So on a 7 day cruise the steward would receive about 840.00 dollars.

  13. If I purchase a bottle to be in cabin when I come aboard, do I get any mix with it or do I have to purchase? Can I bring a bottle of mix on board?

You only get the bottle of liquor. I believe it's only 375 no. I usually buy a couple of. Quarts of mix b4 i get on board.

  14. The relatively small extra perk ("exclusive" dining) wouldn't be enough for me to spend extra $$.

As stated above Crown Grill every evening would probably be a better buy.

Was wondering if anyone would be willing to pay $1150.00 per person for the same mini suite you occupied prior to April 2017 to get a club class mini suite. Sound to me Princess is just ripping of the mini suite customers. A mid ship mini suite on deck 9 just went up $1150.00 per person, and what do you get Fri $2300.00, a half bottle of red and white wine, a special set in the dinning room with dedicated waiters, IMHO, sorry that's just a rip off

  15. Hello,

Does anyone have a pdf of the Hawaii excursions? The Princess website will not cooperate with me.

It's for the 15 day LA round trip. Thanks in advance.

Using my smart phone, I go to the princee web site. Scoll down to the are that say a 5 reasons to cruise with princess. Select number 3 for a list of shore excursion the enter the island you want to view.

  16. I will be doing a Hawaiian cruise this year. My passport at that time expires a month or so after the cruise ends.

Do we need to renew it so that I have more than 6 months. Or can I go with what I have ? We are US citizens.

Does anyone know for sure ?

your passport needs to have 6 months left at the time you sail. If you plan on getting off the ship in Mexico you need to up date your passport.

  17. We are considering taking a 15-day Hawaiian cruise next year. What I had not thought about is whether or not we would be able to gamble in the ship's casino when sailing to the different islands. My best guess is that it will not be allowed because Hawaii is a US terriitory. So, I would like to someone to clear this up for me. Thanks so much. :)

Casino is open once the ship sails and you are 3 miles out to sea.
