  1. We are doing the Jade in Jan (I see others on here doing the same)

We would like to zip line, for sure, and even up for the combo with cave tubing.

Best to look for these excursions in Belize or Roatan?

    Thanks

  2. It sounds like they were probably nice people who just hadn't considered that the neighbours were so close.

They were very young (not that that matters) and acted like they were on spring break but your right, they were nice and understanding. You don't see that out of our youth a lot anymore.

  3. I wanted to ask all the NCL experts a questions about excursions.

I booked the Jade for a cruise in November, the first one out of Houston after it returns from Europe.

In Cozumel, there are only 7 excursions to choose from. Do they usually add more once it gets a little closer? I know on the NCL site, if you just search just excursions from Cozumel, 43 come up. I realize that they probably won't offer all of them, but I was surprised that they only have one beach related, and it is a speed boat, snorkel and beach combo.

So, do you think they will add some more, or will I just have to book something on my own or take a cab from the port?

The full list they will offer for your cruise is usually post 90 days (or less) of departure.

  4. Hi. Never cruised before and have booked for Thanksgiving out of NOLA. Is it possible to book shore excursions online at the full price and get the shore excursion credit back on your onboard account? Or must I call in to book to use the credit? Also are shore excursions refundable if the weather is bad or you change your mind? Thanks for helping.

Yes, you must call or use guest services on board to get the credit properly added to ship account. 90 days before cruise or less will get you a better list of available excursions. I would call before.

If you have 3 ports to visit and you don't use one or more, you just lose them. They do not refund to your account.

It's like having the unlimited drinks deal, if you don't drink, they won't refund the $456 they say is the value of this deal.

  5. We had an experience with loud, partying neighbors the first night and next day, we saw them in the bar (we had said hello the first day on board), I sent over drinks for them all and then went over and introduced myself. Took the opportunity to mention how loud they were the night before and asked if they could bring their quiet voices back to the cabin at night so "us old folks could get our sleep".

Rest of the trip was very quiet.

Not saying it will work every time either. Just did for us on this trip.

  6. I haven't been on this ship but if they have a thermal spa, that is one place I would recommend.

We've been on 2 Alaska cruises on other lines and both times we relaxed in thermal spa and would view everything from their huge windows. Also a little deck outside. Most spas are near the top of the ship.

Just remember, you must be dressed to use the spa and not in street clothes.

  7. Didn't want to create a new post on here for this question. And since it pertains to this very subject........

Any websites we could go to that offer the best pricing for a day pass to the center?

We will be a family of 3 and thought we'd spend our day before the cruise visiting the center.

    Thanks everyone

  8. I too would be interested in knowing the name(s) of any private transport companies. We will be three people so it seems that the cost is about the same as the Princess bus but I think it would be more convenient than having to go back to the airport.

    Thanks

Hilton property we are staying at recommended Supershuttle. Prices weren't too bad. I contacted many companies in the area and they were the lowest so far. Only thing about them though is their reviews lean more towards the "not so good" side of the dial. :):):)

Doing rental car comparison, the prices if you rent at the airport is so much higher than if you rent at an office a couple blocks away.

  9. Doing NCL in Jan.

What are some of the best hotels closest to this port to consider? Ones that have shuttles that will take us to port.

Mattp240, you said you live there, help a bro out. 😀😀

Does NCL offer transfer? We arrive2 days before but depart for home day of return

    Thanks

  10. First, I had no idea where to ask this question so admins, if this isn't the right section, I sincerely apologize.

We are 3 adults cruising in Jan or Feb of 2016. Taking our 90 year old mother on her first cruise to celebrate her birthday.

I have been checking most of the cruise lines for pricing and cabin choices and we are getting back a double occupancy for our mothers rate.

Yes, I have checked out Norwegians studio but the quotes given are very close to the double occupancy rate for 2 people in a inside cabin.

Would appreciate some help if folks know a secret or way around this. We can't do one cabin with all 3. Not sure we would get much sleep with all the noise and waking up (turning lights and TV on and off) mom does.

Trying to do this on the cheap because later in 2016 we are doing one for our 40th anniversary and we want to go all out in a nice suite.

    Thanks for the help.

  11. no sorry, cant help...but 1999 and norwegian is significant to me...was my first cruise ever; The Norway, cruise date Oct 2 1999! I loved that cruise, loved the ship, was very sad when it had that horrible engine room/boiler fire, and how that ship ended up.

I agree with you. The Norway was an awesome ship. From the old wooden doors, to having to step up to go thru the doors, to the huge comfy cabins, to the funky bathrooms, etc, etc.

  12. Have they remodeled it. All the rooms at this hotel back in 1999 were inside rooms. Was looking at their gallery just now and see doors on the outside.

Most of the rooms in our section were cruisers and we all put our bags in the hallway before midnight and they came thru and grabbed all the bags to take to ship the next day.

Edit: looking thru picture gallery more, that's not it.

  13. Norwegian used a hotel in Miami that housed a Don Shula steak house back in 1999. We had the most awesome all you can eat breakfast there before our journey on the Norway back then.

Our group got together recently and we were all stumped for the name of this hotel. Hoping someone may recall.

Here is what we remember, we flew in to Miami about 10pm that night in 1999. Just outside the (seemed like) back doors was a outdoor strip mall area that was packed with people walking around, shopping, music, dancing etc, etc. It was really fun seeing everyone out that late at night for us. We recall there was a 50's style diner that we stopped at and had some fries. This place had juke boxes on each table that took a nickel for a song. (free nickels were all over so the kids had a blast)

We weren't sure just how long it took us to get to the port from this hotel, some say 30 min and some say long or some shorter.

Does this ring a bell to anyone??

    Thanks for the help.
