  1. I have been on three Norwegian cruises and the product is substantially different. The Escape and Epic actually have servers to bring you drinks in the hot tubs and pools, but the Jade strictly forbid it. They went so far as to put plastic guards in the hot tubs so you couldn't set your drink down. Staff came around and told us it was forbidden.

We found this to be lame. The staff had inconsistent and stupid answers about "US maritime law". Why not on other Norwegian ships?? We were in Greece on a ship which had the port of call of the Bahamas. Nowhere did the US figure into this.

We had the Ultimate Beveridge Package but what's the point if you can't enjoy a glass of wine in the pool or hot tub. Stupid!

The Jade trip we took was in Greece.

It's an old ship retired from Hawaii so all the decor and art is from Hawaii. It's a tired old ship and has a geriatric atmosphere.

We were on the Jade this past Jan and many people in the hot tubs were drinking.

There was one group, I believe a wedding group, who partied in one hot tub every single day and no one ever asked them to get out with their drinks.

  2. I LOVE Epic! It's my favourite ship. Lots of places to hang out with friends (old and new), I love Posh and suggest running for passes if you aren't in the Haven. The Haven is much nicer, love watching the water when eating, on the Away ships, you only have one end of the room with windows.

The whole vibe of the ship is great. The restaurants, I love grabbing sushi when I don't feel like a full meal. Spice, Bliss, you name it, I love it.

I've been in a studio (the smallest cabin) for a transatlantic, and now I'll be in the largest DOS for a transatlantic, I can't wait, I know it will be amazing!

    Pricing for Posh passes?

    Thanks

  3. We contacted a few charters.

They all responded quickly and with great information about their charters available to us. The reviews (here and on Tripadvisor) were very good for most.

In the end, we decided to go with Aristocat. Yes, we will miss the baths but the itinerary, the pricing, the catamaran (always a fun experience), etc and then the reviews just had us deciding this was the charter for us.

Excited for our trip in Jan and will do a review when we get home.

  4. Do any of the Port Canaveral hotels offer a airport pickup, stay one night and then a return to the airport at disembarkation?

We checked shuttle pricing alone but, for some reason, a number of shuttle companies stop service after 1pm.

Finally, anyone have a hidden gold mine car service/shuttle? We asked this question when we went to Houston and got the best car service ever.

    Thanks gang

  5. Never sailed Escape in good weather so can't help, sorry.

Escape does have several decks with loungers, deck 19 port side has a water feature/mist thingy to cool off which can be easily used. Unfortunately the nearby overhanging hot tubs have 3 steps.

Skip this response. I posted in wrong area. Too many tabs opened. Sorry.

  6. Didn't want to start a new thread with our question so hopping on board this one about the pools.

Regarding the adults only pool, is it difficult to get loungers on sea days unless you run out at 3am (it's a joke, yes, I know loungers aren't out then) and just go back to sleep in one? And is it easy for a wheelchair to get thru it?

It's not mandatory for us to be in the best and closest loungers, we just like to be out there enjoying the sun.

    Thanks

  7. We love Pirates of the Caribbean. We have used them twice before and will again in 11 days!!! They are in Roatan. You will be rushed for time in Belize. We are just doing the cave tubing there. BTW Pirates use gravity breaking with two safety lines. Some use manual breaking where you have to wear gloves and squeeze the cable to slow yourself down.

Another vote for Pirates. We used them 2 weeks ago and they were outstanding, start to finish.

Gave us a short tour of island before and after our zip.

  8. Is this the area around to the left as you come down the stairs? If so, they seated us in there one night (Wednesday or Thursday?) and it was so much warmer in there that we asked to be moved out into the main area of the dining room, which they gladly did. It felt like the A/C wasn't working in there. I think it must have been just a temporary issue.

Yes, we sat way back inside there a few times. Our first night, it was a tad warm and we asked for some AC and they turned it right on. The rest of our times back there, never a issue.

We all loved it back there plus we had the same server each time and he spoiled us rotten.

  9. Thanks for the review especially the raves about Omar. We were in the Haven on Jade in Dec and had Bruno as the concierge. Let's just say I was underwhelmed.

Do you remember the name of the butler? We had Antonio in Dec and, again, underwhelmed.

We had Jacob as our cabin steward and hope he is still there. He was great. Also Oliver in the Haven taking care of the food area and taking drink orders by the pool. He was awesome. One day he even hunted down oatmeal raisin cookies for my mom. LOL!

We had Pedro as our butler. Omar is the best we've ever had. Can't say enough good things about that man

  10. We were on the same cruise and a 2 bedroom suite as well.

I agree, Omar is the best. Butler was good but didn't see him a lot. Just found multiple deliveries of snacks and chocolates all day long.

We got on board from VIP lounge before anyone else. They escorted us. We went right for the great outdoors, got our table and then went in pairs to get our lunch.

Food was great and we enjoyed a couple hours there with our cocktails.

Suite was awesome. How can I ever go back to other cabins.:eek:

Cagney's for breakfast each morning although they have a limited breakfast menu. Thought the breakfast in the buffet was surprisingly good. So many choices.

Had dinner one night in Jasmine. Many in our party had sour stomachs after. No sickness, just sour feeling. Ones who didn't have the fried rice didn't so we assumed that was it.

Only issues we had were people smoking in non-smoking areas and the same group of about 30 hogging chairs in prime location. They would get out there first thing when chairs were being put out, make their claim and leave. On port days, they'd mark their territory and head off ship for the day.

We told pool area people but nothing was ever done.

Wasn't a big deal to us (I know, it does sound like it was) because we found sitting upstairs to be more fun. This way you could people watch. That's always fun.

Just walked around Cozumel for about an hour or 2, then back on ship.

Ruins tour in Belize. Was good but wouldn't do again.

Pirates of Caribbean zipline in Roaton. That was a blast. Our 4th time zipling in our travels and this one was awesome. We'd go back there.

Thought Rodrigo was awesome. Enjoyed chatting with him. Ricky needs to invest in better jokes (he's still a great guy) and Lester is just a kick.

As VIP's, we had no issues with embarkation, embarkation or tenders. Priority for all.

Used Abdel for car sevice. 20 to 30% cheaper than other car services for RT from IAH to Bayport

Tip: If you sit in the Grand Pacific, ask to be seated in the extension off area 1.

  11. Is the upsell dept open on the weekend?

No, weekdays only- 9 to 5

Regarding the upsell, we got the call on Jan 13th, called back and took their offer. We booked thru our PCC at Norwegian last summer. We took the unlimited drink package. Since we upgraded to a suite, does that mean we are eligible for all of the freebies (Unlimited drink, unlimited dine, $75 towards excursion, etc) they were offering all year or is that not included in upsell?
