  1. The one thing that I really didn't like, was tendering into Princess Cay in the ships life boat. They used 4 of them. On the way back, the pilot had a really hard time tying up to the ship. He made several passes trying to get close enough. One time he came in fast and slammed into the side of the ship jolting us. There was a loud crunching noise on the life boat when we hit the ship. It was life boat #16. The tenders that come out to all of the other private islands that I have been to have pilots that are more experienced at coming along a ship. There were many black marks on the white paint where other life boats must have hit the side of the ship.

  2. Thanks for the review. We were also on this sailing.

I didn't like having to walk through the buffet area to reach the Horizon Court. Later in the cruise we learned to just use the aft elevators to get there. I also thought the Atrium was too busy, 3 decks with many venues in a close area. All of the noise and people made it hard for me to hear. By busy I don't mean a lot of passengers, just too much going on in one area.

We did have a great time on board, the crew were fantastic. Loved the movie choices on the room TV's, they had a small selection of live TV however, I just wanted the news, forget about it. The food was great, we had no problems anywhere.

  3. I sugegst another method.

    a) Call the DINE line from your cabin. If they will allow anytime reservations, it can be done this way.

    or

    b) Stop by the Anytime dining room when it opens and ask the headwaiter there.

I would avoid the Matre d' meeting. There will usually be a long line of people wanting to change from fixed to any time or from one fixed tiome to a different one or wanting to change the size table they are at. You could easily spend an hour in that line which could be better spent exploring the ship or unpacking.

When ever I tried to call for reservations, nobody answered the phone. We just went after 8:30 every night and got right in.

  4. We were on this sailing also, we did have a good time. We did have a few problems, our AC was not very cool, they came twice, then it was fine. Our toilet sometimes would not flush every time. We would have to either turn the shower on or the bath sink to get it to flush.

Getting to the Horizon Court you had to walk through the buffet area. This normally had many people going in all directions. To fix this we had D147, we would walk to the aft elevator then go up to the deck. To get anywhere, there is a lot of walking involved. Many times the elevators were full so you had to wait. I have bad knees so the stairs are hard on me.

We never had anything bad to eat, loved the food. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room TV's were great, there was a large selection of movies that you could watch with no charge. Plus the movie starts when you clicked it on.

The little complaints are not deal breakers. We really enjoyed ourselves.

  5. Can you give me directions like a 5 year old to Casablanca?

I'm pretty familiar with the port area.

    Thanks so much!

is it the place on the left where all the stools are outside? and the only "inside" is the refrigerator room?

It is just past the straw market, before Senior Frogs. It has a blue awning with stools and a small room where she gets the drinks.

  6. I maybe counting ours wrong for the upcoming cruise. My husband & I will be in a JS ( 13 day NZ ) & ( 18 day Transpcific). We now have 35 points and are Platinum. I am figuring 2 X 13 = 26 and 2 X's 18 = 36. We are Platinum now so believe we will reach Emerald at the end of NZ & Diamond at the end of the Transpaicfic.

Go on 2 cruises, jump up 2 classes, not bad.

  7. Royal??? Advance notice of changes??? Accurate and timely info to all the booking people??? ;););)

Sorry Bob, I lost my head for the moment, I got it back now.

crap, I missed it by ONE day :(:(:(

I had my TA call today about my solo Dec. 11 day cruise that has been booked for some time. She called back and said that I will get double points regardless of when I booked.

  8. I wish RCCL would let us know that they were going to do this ahead of time. I have an 11 day solo cruise booked for Dec., I was going to do a B2B solo on the Majesty before this cruise to help me get to Diamond Plus. Then RCCL does away with Diamonds in December, so instead of the Majesty, I booked a 3 day cruise on a MSC ship with my GF. Had I known, I would have done the Majesty and been 1 point shy of the next level.

  9. You could also go to the Daiquiri Shack. They mix what ever type of fruit that you want in a blender, then a little juice and ice then they mix it and serve it with rum. To get there take the #10 Jitney bus, tell the driver that you want off at the Daq Shack. It cost $1.25 per person each way. I think the drink is $6.00.
