First elegant night was the full see day and the second is tonight and we’re at Ketchikan today.

Thanks. Were there any themed deck parties like 80s or White Night?  I don’t ever dress for these but I said I’d ask for her.

Someone in my roll call on another social media page😉 just asked which nights are elegant and what theme parties there are. Can you help answer her question?  Thanks!

Mine was in ‘87.  I was too hammered to know if it was a time change weekend or not.  My only memorabilia from that night are the surgery scars and the video from the arthroscope.

While we definitely had fun (and the people watching!!!) we didn’t get to get too out of control. We just drove down from Baylor for the night and had to drive back home.

He's been laying down hints for months. The 55 days of Spanish one on the Tribe today was a hoot! :classic_biggrin:

🤦‍♀️. I was so focused on him adding the Alaska cruise on NCL that I completely missed the clues. Just assumed the Parking Spot rates were for that one. Obviously didn’t pay attention to the dates or length.

I spent one Halloween night on 6th street in Austin in the late 80’s and ended up needing knee surgery after that night.  🥴

Hmmm…I was on 6th St in Austin for Halloween in 1987 or 1988 (I think). It was also time change Saturday so we got an extra hour!

We didn’t do CHEERS on this trip for the first time since Miracle to Alaska last year. 10 out of 12 days are in port, so I figured it probably wasn’t worth the considerable expense. But still, I know I’ll run up a decent tab, so TBD on if this was the right decision. I’ve read in a bunch of places that it’s not an issue to bring booze onboard in Europe, but that concept is so foreign to me I’ll believe it when I see it…..

“Officially” Carnival says no. Same rules as US ports. BUT on our TA on the Pride last fall we took a bottle of liqueur in our carryon when we boarded in Lisbon and people we travelled with took 2 bottles of Baileys in their checked luggage. We were all prepared to have it confiscated. No one even looked at it. Then after we went through security in the terminal there was an entire liquor store😮. Saw lots of people carrying bottles on straight to their cabins.  Can’t say what will happen at any given port this year, but I think chances are much better you can carry anything on at any port (embarkation or not) than that it will be taken away.

  8. We had a white and gold night/Love Boat party on the Ruby in April. The party was well attended but very few dressed in white and gold. But it was also the last night of the cruise so most people had already packed. I thought that was kinda weird. I did hear a few people talking about deciding what they were wearing earlier in the day so it really is just up to you.

  9. Yes I know it is too early and the itineraries have not been announced yet. But I am new to Princess (one cruise) and want to research ships that are “likely” to be in Europe in 2025 just to familiarize myself with the different classes and amenities.

So what are your best guesses?

  10. I agree completely with those saying they do t watch the news anymore because of the frustration it causes. Funny thing is I think many people on both sides of the issues would  say the same thing!  If only we could all focus on that.

Back to happier topics like food, drink and cruising!

I know there are a few Survivor fans on here, as am I since I have watched every episode since day 1.  I found out that one of the fan favorites, Keith Nale, passed away from cancer on Tuesday.  I met him a few years ago when I was volunteering at the Byron Nelson golf tournament.  He was gracious enough to spend a couple of minutes talking with and posing for a picture with me.  He even follows(ed) me on Twitter!

I also found myself seated next to Survivor winner Mike Holloway one night at a Dallas Stars game (he had season tickets before he won Survivor).  Also a very nice guy.  We were talking during the game, and he happened to get a Facetime call from his now wife, Meg Maley (of Big Brother), as they had just started dating.

I have a VERY good friend who I’m actually cruising with in June who was on Survivor in Season 12. She used to live in the DFW area but moved a few years ago.  I’ve never watched an episode of Survivor or any other reality show (just not my thing) but love to hear her stories of her experiences.

Thanks for the update. I just bought my first Lands End items last month and I’m hooked!!  I never look for anything but Carnival cards but this is good news!

Yes, that's how Carnival is doing things with their new ships.

I agree it's a poor experience for set dining cruisers.

I don't see why they don't just allow everyone to reserve a table at the restaurant of their choosing when they want. Go to 100% "freestyle" dining.

Personally I like having a choice. I gave no problem with people choosing YTD, but I avoid cruise lines that have no set time dining options.

    Hi Everyone,

I had mentioned booking an Alaska cruise next Sept a few weeks back.

We are going to fly to Dallas after the cruise and do a 3-4 week round road trip through Texas,New Mexico & Arizona. Does anyone have suggestions for things to do(not hiking) or great places to eat at any of the below towns/cities?

    San Antonio,Las Cruces,Tucson, Albuquerque,Amarillo & Lubbock(Buddy Holly Museum we'll do).

    Thanks.

Here are the few restaurants in San Antonio that I know anything about:

This is the Mexican place on river walk I go to
    https://www.casario.com

This is a very famous Mexican place in the Market area. Even if you don’t eat a meal check out their bakery
    https://www.mitierracafe.com

This is on the river walk. Don’t know about their Mexican food but it used to be called Kangaroo Court and was famous for their cheesecake. Apparently they still have the cheesecake so I’d go just for dessert

In Amarillo there’s a famous steak place. Not fancy, but fun. https://www.bigtexan.com

Something touristy that I’ve never done but always heard of https://tailfins-at-cadillac-ranch.myshopify.com
