  1. Testing. If this link works, you will see one my County’s turtle nests boil”. A mass hatching is referred to as a boiling! If it doesn’t work, I will delete it. https://www.facebook.com/100064244667299/posts/pfbid02PzsPcDQJPRhU3JzAFK21uJC3b9WsCT5TXjzE44iarUZhtyWcbMLbFC5K978Y6zgXl/
  2. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! A bit of a marine layer this morning, after a night with such oppressive humidity that I hoped it would rain. I love today’s quote because of how we all interpret it a bit differently. I do believe that many people viewed the women who stood up against the wrongs of society as not well-behaved. I have been called a trouble maker by many people in my career, because I questioned wrong doing and poor decisions. I wore that badge proudly and it landed me in an amazing position from which to end my career. Vanessa, thank you for taking the time to scour our posts and share important happenings with us. Bindi walks, chores, Zumba & maybe some pool time should fill my day. @0106 I am going to use that hummus dressing recipe. Sounds amazing, Tina! Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. @lazey1 Happy Birthday for real! @Mr. Boston getting really close! Get well & stay well everyone! ********** Ringbolt - Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River 2021 A lively, easy to find, reasonably priced Australian Cab with a lot of fans. Available from numerous online distributors with prices starting at $15.90. Winemaker Notes Crimson in color. The nose is classic Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River. Layers of intensely flavored ripe forest berries infused with tobacco leaf, blackcurrant, sea spray and a hint of brooding cedar oak. The medium-bodied palate revels in bright berries and a spicy mid-palate freshness. A fine expression of varietal definition from a cool vintage that yields soft luscious tannins and a long, fresh finish. Enjoy with Angus beef fillet topped with garlic poached marron (what the locals refer to as steak and lake), or char-grilled kale with brown rice and onions JS91 James Suckling A fresh and youthful cabernet with aromas of blackcurrants, red licorice, rosemary, graphite and tobacco leaves on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Excellent freshness and drinkability. Drink or hold.
  3. @lazey1 Jane May your new year be filled with love, laughter, great health & a cruise!
  4. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! It is very cloudy this morning after a day without rain. Looks like Daytona is getting some early morning showers. Thank you for keeping up with us, Vanessa! I need to get out and do some dead-heading. I am astounded that my hydrangea is still producing blossoms. I wish I could figure out why this year is different. I have plenty of things to keep me busy inside, if we do get rain. Bindi walks, HIIT and 🤞🏻 pool time might just keep me busy. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! @Mr. Boston enjoy your last few days of work! Get well & stay well ever! ********** Trapiche - Oak Cask Malbec 2021 I want to try this Malbec just so I can learn what the winemaker means by “in the mouth is round”. This Malbec is widely available and all vintages share similar reviews. Numerous online distributors with prices starting at $6.99. Winemaker Notes Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec is an intense red colored wine with some violet hues. Fruity aromas with notes of plums and cherries. In the mouth is round, with a touch of truffles and vanilla. JS91 James Suckling Ripe plums, cooked cherries, cocoa and a hint of beetroot on the nose. Medium-bodied, ripe and fruity with soft tannins and bright acidity. Plummy, juicy finish.
  5. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! It is lovely this morning, though the humidity is already present. Yesterday’s trip home was uneventful. We were a bit delayed taking off, but made up most of the time in the air. Traffic on 95 was decent, since it was only midday when we merged into it. Dropped my Sister and her grandson off, picked up Bindi and headed home. It was so good to be here. I had a huge salad for “lupper”, did my laundry, took Bindi for a couple of walks and then just chilled. Vanessa, thank you for sharing our happenings. Today I head to the gym, then Aldi. Chores, Bindi walks and some picture sharing should keep me busy. If I am really lucky, I will get some pool time in. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! ********** Blandys - Madeira Rainwater Medium Dry 0 I do not remember ever having Madeira, but it sounds interesting. I would definitely taste it. Numerous online and local distributors with online prices starting at $14.99. Winemaker Notes A medium-dry Madeira which combines soft fruit and dry nutty quality. Serve lightly chilled as an aperitif. WW93 Wilfred Wong of Wine.com The Blandy's Rainwater Madeira is fresh, bright, and tangy on the palate. TASTING NOTES: This wine shines with aromas and flavors of nuttiness and a slightly salty tang. Serve it with a plate of lemon-accented, raw oysters.
  6. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! What a stunning morning here! A perfect ending to a very quick visit. I am sitting at the gate ready to board. Yesterday was just as spectacular. It was 59F when I left for the “big city”. I met my friends for lunch at Smith & Wollensky across from the Tea Party Ship & Museum. And we were a bit early, so we got to hear the Museum guides lead the visitors through a reenactment of the insurrection! Lunch was lovely, and since we were celebrating two birthdays, the birthday girls got to choose a dessert off the menu - on the house! The entire meal was spectacular. And it was lovely to be able to sit outside. After lunch, we walked the Rose Kennedy Greenway. My first visit. This spectacular park was created after a major thruway was placed underground. They had a fog station, a huge play fountain, a carousel, and a series of 20+ artist vendors selling their creations. And some beautiful views. I picked up a new headband for my workouts. Lots of kids, dogs, butterflies and just a wonderful way to walk off lunch. After a three hour “tour”, we headed back to where I parked the car. Then I dropped them off at the train station. One heading to Portland Maine on Amtrak. And the other heading to Gloucester on the T. I dropped the rental car off & then Ubered to the North End to meet the family for dinner. My driver had a Tesla. My first ride in one. Very interesting. My driver had to show me how to use the door handle. 😜 The North End traffic was as crazy as I remember it. But the food was as good as I remember. I had some Antipasti, and shared a dessert. I was still fairly full from lunch. Then back to my Nephew & his DW’s place in Charlestown, to chill a little bit before bed. It was nice enough to sit outside. We could hear some fireworks, but could not see the source from their rooftop deck. But the view of the moon made up for it. My DN & his DW’s hydrangeas. This morning my Nephew dropped us off after a 15 minute, stress free ride. 😎 Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with us. It will be good to be home. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone! ******** Cune Rioja Crianza 2018 Another widely available Rioja that sounds sippable & tasty. Available from a decent number of online distributors with prices starting at $12.99. Winemaker Notes Bright cherry color with some violet nuances. In the nose, red berries aromas. This red wine shows an elegance in the mouth, yet very lively, with some spice back notes and a very balanced acidity. JS92 James Suckling Attractive berry and cherry aromas with hints of orange peel, following through to a medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Hints of peach and spice. Light and delicious. Tempranillo. Vegan. Drink now.
  7. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! After an afternoon & evening of storms, it is a beautiful morning with expected highs in the 70s. Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with us. Yesterday was sad, but wonderful, with some fun thrown in. My nephew’s 15 year old son was finally able to release some of his grief at the memorial service yesterday. Hearing all our memories helped all of us. Then we headed to the place with the best ice cream in the area. It has grown from an ice cream stand & farm to a mini amusement park. Pony rides, goat pen, tortoises, bumper boats, zip line, mini golf, batting cages - I might be forgetting something. What a great way to repurpose the farm. And since we arrived early, our ice cream was free! The first hour of the day, the stand was promoting going green by not charging for the ice cream. And best of all the ice cream is amazing as I remembered. My cousin trying to finish off the melted remnants of his banana split. 7 year old Cara loved it! Today I head into Boston to meet two longtime friends for lunch. Then a visit to the Tea Party Museum, and a walk around Rose Kennedy park, before heading to the North End to meet the family for dinner. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone! *********** Bodegas Ego - Goru Gold red blend Jumilla 2018 Boy I need to taste this red blend. Lots of fans and a price that makes it an easy mistake to overlook. And very interesting name. Numerous distributors that ship to me with prices starting at $9.09. Winemaker Notes Intense cherry-red color with violet shades. Delicate black fruit aroma with high roast and smoky features. Structured, subtle and smart palate, ripe appetizing and a sweet tannins marked by elegance. Pair with beefsteak with mushrooms, hare, partridge, leg of lamb suckling, lamb, smoked meats, stews and rice with meat, hake stewed, salmon, codfish and red tuna, eggplant with parmesan, blue cheese and cured cheese. WE92 Wine Enthusiast This dark ruby wine has a bouquet of black currant, espresso bean and aniseed. It is soft on impact, then plush tannins set into the palate with flavors of blueberry, dark plum, mocha and oregano that dissolve into a Valencia orange finish.
  8. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Yesterday was tough. Lots of crashes slowed down the trip to the airport. The arriving plane was late, so we were almost an hour late leaving Jacksonville. We made up a little time in the air, but we were still 40 minutes late. Picked up the car and then merged ourselves into Boston Friday afternoon Summer traffic - aggravated by one tunnel closure. Two hours to do a one hour trip. But we made it! And then enjoyed a wonderful family meal at a great Italian restaurant. That was our reward. And then I hit the bed. Vanessa, thank you for sharing our happenings. Today we say goodbye to my nephew. We have all collected our favorite memories and pictures, so we can celebrate his life. After the cemetery, we will reconvene at his favorite ice cream place. I don’t believe any of the youngest generation has ever visited - they are in for a treat! Not sure what I will do tonight. I need to get a workout in. I don’t think yesterday’s stress counts as a cardio workout. But it should. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! Yalumba Shiraz Viognier The Y series 2020 Another lovely Shiraz - Viognier blending. I found a few online distributors that only ship to within their own Country. There are several that ship to me with prices starting at $9.75. Winemaker Notes Bright crimson in color. Luscious and exotic aromas and flavors of Turkish delight, red cherries and boysenberry with hints of white pepper and violets. Enjoyable velvety tannins provide a perfect complement to the cherry and chocolate finish which shows the synergy between these two varieties. Enjoy with sausages and mash, vegetable and bean chilli or guacamole, salsa and grilled corn.
  9. Just a quick post before heading to the airport. Hope everyone has an enjoyable day. *********** Bodegas LAN Crianza 2018 This Rioja sounds lovely & very sippable. Fans amongst critics & consumers. A decent number of online distributors with prices starting at $11.99. Winemaker Notes Bright cherry red with a garnet rim. A refined nose with predominant notes of red and stone fruits: strawberry, raspberry, and peach. Patisserie and cream encased in elegant notes of vanilla, caramel, and a subtle hint of cinnamon. It is flavourful and expressive on the palate. It is immediately inviting, enveloping the palate and leaving a long and pleasant aftertaste. WW91 Wilfred Wong of Wine.com The 2018 Bodegas Lan Crianza is medium bodied and layered on the palate. TASTING NOTES: This wine exhibits aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, savory spices, and hints of oak. Pair it with grilled lamb chops.
  10. Jacqui, you don’t owe me an apology. I posted at the last minute.
  11. Thank you Jacqui. I actually had time to go hunting today. So my posts are prepared. I may not post the info very early, and that may be the only thing I post - but it will show up eventually. Ann
  12. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich. A lovely morning following a day without even a brief shower. Thank you, Vanessa for sharing our happenings. Zumba, Bindi walks, chores, packing and an evening with my next door neighbor. Her daughter has been staying with her while she finished up her career, while her husband was overseeing the house they were building in Utah. It will be tough to see her go. I am packing for a short trip to New England for my nephew’s memorial service on Saturday and then a birthday celebration with two dear friends who entered new decades during the height of the pandemic - so I missed the parties their families threw for them. Is there anyone willing to take over the Wine du Jour postings for 4 days: this Friday - Monday? Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone! ********** Rubus - Old Vines Zinfandel Lodi 2019 This good - very good California Zinfandel has quite a few fans in the consumer ranks. It is easy to find with a decent price. Available from quite a few online distributors with prices starting at $13.98. And now I know that Rubus is Latin for raspberry. Distributor notes Rubus Old Vine Zinfandel Reserve is made from 100 percent Zindandel. The Rubus Project was created by Fran Kysela as a way to source & sell incredible wines at value prices. 13. Joy Hope Allen is not dealing with anything serious. And all tests are negative. You might search for a bee keeper, or someone in your County who will relocate the nest.
  14. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Another lovely morning. And just a few sprinkles yesterday. Vanessa, thank you for all you do to help us keep up with one another. I have an early manicure appointment, then Bindi walks, chores, HIIT and possibly pool time. Prayers for all who need our support. @StLouisCruisers, Sandi I was sorry to read about Madi. Hugs to your twin. Hope wonderful memories help are her pain. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone! ********** Elderton - Barossa Shiraz 2018 I would love to taste this Australian Shiraz, but it might be a bit too “intense” for me. It has a great many fans amongst consumers & is reasonably priced. A decent number of online distributors with prices starting at $18.94. Winemaker Notes Full bodied, rich, elegant, classic. A rich and vibrant dark purple. Aroma of black forest fruits and a hint of creme caramel. On the palate dark plum fruits and chocolate with subtleties of anise and spice. A seamless tannin profile elevates the fruit providing depth and length to the finish. Drink now or cellar confidently for 10 to 15 years from vintage. JS91 James Suckling There’s rich and intense fruit on offer here, from raspberries to red plums to blackberries and assertive American-oak influence. The palate has a very rich and plush feel with bold, fleshy blackberry flavors, as well as some chocolate, smoked meat and spice. Intense and fleshy.
  15. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich. It is a lovely morning here after another round of afternoon T-storms yesterday. Vanessa thank you for keeping up with everything that goes on here. Espresso martinis - or fauxtinis, if you prefer are my go to pre-dinner drink on a cruise. Gym, Bindi walks, chores and then a gathering of friends at the local wine bar to continue celebrating our friend entering a new decade of her life! Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! ********* Gsm Stump Jump Red Mclaren Vale 2017 I have enjoyed the Stump Jump red & white blends, so I suspect that I would enjoy this GSM. Excellent consumer & critic reviews, and available from numerous online distributors with prices starting at a very reasonable $10.49. Winemaker Notes This wine screams value. A rich ruby red appearance with a fragrant nose of raspberry, a hint of dark cherry and spice. Silky texture on the palate, but with a juicy fruit core that shows plum, red berries, and a savory finish. There are lovely soft tannins and some slight acidity. The fruit weight and silkyness means this wine can be enjoyed now, but it will keep developing over time. Blend: 46% Grenache, 42% Shiraz, 12% Mourvedre WE91 Wine Enthusiast Ripe, fleshy blueberries and raspberries drive this red blend without too much oak getting in the way. There's an underbelly of flowers, cinnamon and peppery spice. The tannins are typically muscular, while the fruit is juicy, silky and fresh. Best Buys
  16. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! A lovely start to the day, after another round of evening rain & T-storms. Vanessa, thank you for sharing our happenings. Gym, Bindi walks, chores, a celebratory ice cream with friends in honor of my friend who just entered a new decade! Hoping the afternoon storms work with us, not against us. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone! ********* dArenberg - Shiraz-Viognier McLaren Vale The Laughing Magpie 2016 This Australian wine is a bit harder to find than yesterday’s, but the price point makes it worthwhile to hunt for it. The 2018 vintage has an even higher rating from the critics, and just might be easier to find. Again, the Viognier helps to soften the Shiraz - and makes me want to try this. A few online distributors with prices starting at $24.95. Winemaker Notes The nose is particularly intense, with peppery spice, hints of fragrant flower and perfume aromas, plus nectarines, apricots, ginger and herbs from the small parcel of Viognier that the Shiraz is cofermented with. The palate is rich and generous, with ripe black fruit and soft silky tannins. WE92 Wine Enthusiast With 4% Viognier, the nose of this Shiraz-based wine offers an appealing mix of plum, fig cake, mocha, olive and large helpings of savory spice. The palate is powerfully tannic and chalky in texture. Nevertheless, the spicy, brambly fruit finds its way to the fore, providing much needed softness. Give this a decant or air time or plenty of protein if drinking now. Drink until 2028. JS91 James Suckling Bold aromas of cherries, yellow plums and other orchard fruit here. Some brown spices, too. Very upbeat, fruit-driven palate that carries such plump, fleshy, ripe red-plum and berry flavors. Drink or hold.
  17. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! A lovely start to the day after an evening and night of heavy rains and T-storms. Vanessa thank you for all you do to help us keep up with one another! @summer slope Dixie, hope your new year is filled with love, laughter, great health, tasty cocktails & a cruise - or two. Gym, Aldi, Bindi walks, chores and maybe some pool time 🤞🏻 - should keep me busy. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! ************ Henschke - Henry's Seven Barossa Gsm Blend 2021 This Australian GSM is a gem! It is amazing how much that tiny bit of Viognier helps temper any harshness from those bold red grapes. It is available from a decent number of distributors with prices starting at $41.94. Winemaker Notes Deep garnet with violet hues. A striking bouquet of ripe plum, raspberry, blueberry and notes of blackberry intertwine with savory notes of cracked black pepper, flowering herbs, fresh tarragon and bay leaf. Dark plum, berry compote, rhubarb and raspberry flavors lead to a peppery mid-palate of vibrant red berry acidity and fine-grained tannins, finishing with lingering flavors of mulberry and black pepper. Blend: 72% Shiraz, 13% Grenache, 12% Mataro, 3% Viognier JS95 James Suckling Aromas of black fruit and green tobacco with bark and wet-earth undertones, following through to a medium to full body, creamy tannins and a juicy, savory finish. Intense and balanced. RP90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2021 Henry's Seven has a purity to the expression of blackberry fruit in the mouth—it is vibrant and luminescent and succulent. There are notes of tobacco leaf, raspberry leaf tea, bramble, aniseed and a crack of pink peppercorns. The fruit doesn't persist as I hoped it would through the finish, but the flavors are so lovely it hardly matters.
  18. @cruising sister Lorraine, praying that Murphy licks this setback quickly and gets back on the road to full recovery.
  19. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich. It appears that we were both a day ahead of ourselves with yesterday’s wine - we used today’s wine yesterday. 😎. So Dailyites - here’s another great opportunity to post your latest favorite wine! I will be sitting back & taking notes! Vanessa, thank you for sharing our happenings! A lovely morning after a hot one, two miles inland from me the heat index was 114 F. A strong ocean breeze made it tolerable, but Bindi was stressed that I wouldn’t let us do long walks. If she would walk on the grass and not the hot sidewalk, I might reconsider. Zumba, Bindi walks, chores and then dinner at a friend’s. Maybe some early afternoon pool time. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Bon Voyage @NextOne@Crazy For Cats Jake & Juan and @dfish Debbie & Sue! Enjoy yourselves! Get well & stay well everyone!
  20. Thanks Rich. I used the list you sent me last night to post. I just could resist the “fake drama”. And you really do not have to apologize. Some Dailyites are using the opportunity to share some of their favorites.
  21. Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Good thing you sent me the updated list, so I could keep my job!😎. Couldn’t resist the “fake drama”. Another lovely morning. And we have now had two days with no rain! And Bindi says every day is her day. Vanessa, thank you for keeping our lists! @0106 Tina, thank you for covering for Debbie! @dfish, Debbie, hope you & Sue have a safe trip today! @Sharon in AZ Happy Birthday to Craig! Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! ********** Unión de Cosecheros de Labastida - Rioja Montebuena 2019 This Rioja is lovely - full bodied, but smooth. Sippable on its own. Great with food. Available from numerous sources with online prices starting at $9.00. Distributor’s notes Produced from 100% Tempranillo grapes, which are hand harvested from the Montebuena vineyard. Brilliant deep ruby red color, fruity aromas . Montebuena Red has a spicy vanilla bouquet and is smooth and fruity in the mouth with some well-integrated secondary nuances, full-flavored and a persistent pleasant finish. Pairs well with beef & lamb dishes, stews & cheeses. Review: "Lots of toasted oak with coffee and chocolate to the ripe-plum character. It’s full-bodied and chewy with a polished undertone. Drink or hold." - James Suckling (September 2020), 92 pts
  22. @richwmn Rich, is this your way of giving me my notice? 😱 “Meal Suggestion for today - Vegan MeatballsDrink of the Day - HorchataWine of the Day -Destination of the Day - Skagway Alaska US”
  23. Thank you for the head’s up on Boston traffic, Terry. I will be up there at the end of the month for my nephew’s memorial service, and am dreading using Route 1 from Logan to points North - since the Sumner tunnel is out of commission. At least I only have to deal with it for a few days.
  24. Thank you for taking the time to share all this great information! Are the outside tables at Le Bistro part of the Waterfront & on the open deck?
