They didn't say a word with what happened to it.  The X lost and found department said I would be responsible for the bags shipping charges, I was never charged for shipping, I did pay the $30 for the port valet service.  Perhaps I should have asked for a refund.

A bit off topic but I thought the port of Seattle luggage valet was free?

  2. While I don't disagree that there needs to be a level of collegiality on board, and behaviour needs to be that of a good citizen, rules are really only guidelines aren't they?   If one becomes offended at minor "infractions" like wearing a cap, then life outside the confines of the little city we call a cruise ship must be so anxiety producing that benzos are required.  Lighten up, life is short.  Ignore it.  When the situation becomes law breaking (and I do not mean rule breaking) then there is a case.  Sorry I hijacked the thread, but the OP must have known that their opinion would raise a few oppositional opinions.

  3. When I first started cruising in 2000, I fell in love with the way I was made to feel by the staff because I truly felt like I was treated the same whether I had an inside cabin or a suite.  BTW, first cruise was an inside, and I have considered it again due to recent pricing.  We have been fortunate enough to try all of the categories and have found that the so called entitlement (and that is really what this thread is about, isn't it?  Let the flaming begin) is really out there...maybe I just didn't notice it at first, because I didn't care.  One time I listened to a 10 minute...yes 10 minute, dissertation from a guest on my phone, who thought she had reached the Concierge.  She went on and on about the equality of the sheets and how they did not warrant the price she paid for the cruise.  That poor man if she ever found him, seriously. With Suite only restaurants and seating at events, and privilege allowed because the money was spent, it is kind  of a big turnoff.  Sorry us common folks who work super hard just to afford a vacation on a cruise ship are not more refined.  Why don't you find a Crystal or Seaborne cruise that might meet your very specific decorum needs.

I am not rich in money, but I am rich in happiness.  I won't stop cruising because of the few who might complain of my less than perfect ways..but I will wish them luck with their life, they will need it.

  4. Hello fellow cruise lovers...is Celebrity currently offering luggage valet on their Alaska sailings disembarking in Seattle?  My cruise is not until August 2020 but I now am taking a 6 pm flight out and sure do not want to just sit at the airport or lug around by bags.  Thanks, Julie

  5. We stayed at Hotel Seward which was nicely located to the Sea life Center as well as downtown and the free bus.  They have rooms with shared bathrooms and, of course, rooms with private bathrooms.  I believe we paid under 250/night for private bath room.  They have a shuttle to the ship.  Rooms were nice and staff were informative

  6. We also had a FV on a Caribbean sailing, and moved to it about a month before sailing.  So I know how wonderful the cabins are.  Since this is a summer sailing in Alaska, I am going to bet that there will be families on board utilizing these staterooms.  So, if I go to Celebrity website daily and type in 5 passengers, I will be able to see if they are open...but, I am sure my TA would not like a daily call to see if we could move into said stateroom yet.  When do they open up for smaller parties...anyone know?

Why do you have to have five?  There will be three of us and would love a FV.  We are doing a trip through AAA so booked a veranda through them.

We have 3 sailors and I was told by my TA that I needed 5 to book the family veranda.  I did not question that any further

  8. From Scootaround, recliners are standard sized and they can deliver to any cruiseline as long as the customer has an ADA room.  If not in an ADA cabin then it is at the discretion of the cruisline.  Rental cost on a 7 day cruise is 175 dollars

  9. This topic is of interest to DH and I as DH also needs to sleep in a recliner due to back problems.  However, while we have an accessible room, there are 3 of us in it and we would want the chair to take the place of the sofa, not the bed.  I suppose I will call Celebrity and Scoot Around to get more details.  Thanks for this thread, did not even think about a recliner rental.

I can partially answer this. Visibility in Talkeetna is arse right now. Depending on what happens with these fires it may be arse when you get there. There may be rain in the forecast in the immediate future but who knows. Also be advised the Parks Highway is partially closed due to fire behavior and there are multiple evacuations between Palmer and Talkeetna. I've heard of extreme delays trying to get up and down the state.

As far as Seward, it is also bad. The Swan Lake fire decided to have an encore and stood up for the first time in a month a few days ago. That may be more of an issue depending on the weather.

Air quality is going to blow for a while, especially on the Kenai. Good luck!

    What is arse?
