Are these the ruins closest to Progreso, MX?  We've been to Ultan Ha in Belize and have seen pictures of some of the other ruins in Belize, but these look spectacular!  Love how that one is a lot taller than the trees.

Edited because I don't know how I got both posts to quote.  The ones in Cozumel are gorgeous too, love the water.  🙂

Yes, Uxmal is about an hour-ish drive from Progreso. This was the only excursion that we have ever booked through Carnival because of the travel time. The ruins are absolutely spectacular!

We also register our travel plans using the US Department of State’s STEP program.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/step.html

    Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)

The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program is a free service that allows U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad to receive the latest security updates from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

    Benefits of enrolling in STEP:

    • You’ll receive the latest safety and security information for your destination country, so you can make informed decisions about your travel.
    • The information you provide enables the U.S. embassy or consulate to contact you in an emergency.

    Stay Informed

When you enroll in STEP, you will receive current information about your destination country, including:

Set up one account, and then add trips later for all your future travel plans!

    Stay Connected

Enrolling in STEP will help the U.S. embassy contact you and provide assistance during an emergency overseas. And, if your family or friends in the U.S. are having difficulty contacting you with urgent news while you’re traveling, we can use the information in STEP to try and reach you.

We also do this. We do check the travel advisory levels, but since we usually stick to the touristy places, we have never changed out plans.

Because it is hot and humid. It is low season for land visitors.

Isn't it always hot and humid? :classic_laugh: You have to excuse my teacher mentality when it comes to vacations....summer is the only time that I can go on extended vacations and I forget that other people travel at other times.

we went to both Playa Palancar and Money Bar in one day.  We really enjoyed both.  The only thing I didn't like about Palancar was their loungers were made of wood so they were really uncomfortable to sit on but that was a couple of years ago so maybe they have different ones now.

This July we will probably just go to the Money Bar since it's closer and we don't get into Cozumel until noon.  Hopefully it doesn't get too crowded in July?  I would imagine it would be off season for them?

Why would the middle of the summer be the off season for anything in Cozumel?

Maybe its just weird to me because I live in Florida, but do all of you poncho people not own rain jackets?

I don't own a rain jacket, but I also don't take a poncho either. If it rains, I just get wet.
