What ship are you on and when is it sailing?  That would influence my decision.  Personally, I think a suite might be really nice during this covid period .......a place to hang out other than public areas without your mask.  But this is my opinion, and only you know the value of having more room..........inside and outside on your balcony.  Whatever you decide, have a great cruise!

We are on the Pride, Deck 7 extended balcony.

  2. I am currently booked in an extended Balcony on the 7th. floor.  The fairy called and offered me a vista suite for $600 more total, for the two of us.  I have never stayed in a suite.  We have already spent a decent amount of money on this cruise.  It was a cruise that we booked 2.5 years ago.  Not a recent super cheap fair.  What would you do?

  3. I am not allowed to refer you to my PVP.  I can say  this.  I own a bakery in Denver, Colorado.  We make a pretty famous lemon mint white chocolate bread.  If you google it, you can find us. If you put in your email address, I can answer any questions you have.

Yes, Sorry for the long delay, I often take breaks as I also post on Virta Health.

My last 2 cruises November 12 & December 18th were smack in the middle of Omnicron.. I always use those tissues in the public bathrooms and if none are available then I use toilet paper or paper wipes, this has been common practice since I was a kid, often seeing men handle their Junk and then grab the door handle just make me cringe and then they go touch everyone else and shake hands with other people. I am very conscious about that.

My biggest test will be in a few weeks as we embark on a 4 day cruise onboard Carnival Miracle. The good thing is that there are no roll calls on cruise critic or other sites for this sailing and with many cancellations it’s possible I might be sailing on a not so crowded ship.  I am still wearing my N95 mask with my Black cloth mask over it what I have done in the past, but this time even outdoors.

So #1 can’t get sick prior to this cruise and #2 be very careful while at the terminal and onboard.

I wish you the best of luck!

I completely agree!  It's still just a random guess as to who is going to get it and how bad it will be.  There have been numerous folks around here who have the booster who have tested positive for Covid in the last few weeks, including our Lt. Gov. The booster isn't stopping Omicron either.

I agree that it doesn't matter which shot you had.  Myself, my husband, and one of our adult sons had the J and J and then a booster when we could.  Our other son had Pfizer and his booster.  We all got covid at the same time. Who knows???

I had an e-mail issue where the results were sent via e-mail.

The people in my group who had gmail, hotmail, or yahoo accounts didn't have a problem. I used my ISP provider e-mail (comcast.net), and my e-mail never arrived. Not even to junk folder. Comcast just blocked it.

    Great information!

The funny part about wearing the Mask, I haven’t had a cold since Jan 1st 2020, I used to get an upper respiratory infection all the time, that’s a thing of the past now.

Booster tomorrow afternoon, wish me luck.

    Hi Fred

May I ask a question? Were any of your cruises as recent as when Omicron came to visit?  I feel like it will be much harder to escape it this time.  We are at home with Covid right now. (not from a cruise ship) I canceled my 12/31 cruise on the Vista.  Have another one coming up on 1/23 on the Pride. I feel much more protected now that I will have antibodies.

Even before covid, we try not to take the elevator at all, I use my knuckles too!  I also use my elbow.  I never touch the handle with a bare hand leaving a public restroom.  It's amazing how many people leave a public restroom without washing up properly. My husband used to tease me about these things, he doesn't anymore. I wish those little tissues that they leave by the bathroom door were just a little bit bigger and thicker.  You have to make sure your hands are very dry, or they tend to fall apart.

Stay healthy, and have so much fun on your cruise!

Thanks! We are doing relatively well, she's already feeling better than she did a few days ago. I've developed a small cough so I probably have it as well now. They gave us the option to isolate separately (i.e. I could have stayed in our original room as long as I was testing negative), but that would have been boring as hell so I decided to go with her. Happy they moved us to an aft balcony rather than the interior I was afraid of

You are a good husband.  I think my husband would do the same.

That's only about 73% of Max Capacity though. Typically, as in before Covid, ships would routinely sail with Max capacity meaning all 3rd and 4th berths were sold as well. 3650 is 90 percent of Double Occupancy Capacity.

According to carnivals website.  Passenger capacity of the vista is 3.934.  3,650 is slightly higher than 73%

I called 8 hours before that email so yes before the policy went into effect.

The total price of my cruise for the 2 of us is only $445.00.  That includes $200 OBC, $200 for me to play with in the casino, and cheers for me.  This is for a balcony cabin.  I think the biggest reason I am so bummed about the prospect of canceling is that I know I will probably never get a deal like this again.  I just wish they would let me save the deal and change my dates. I understand why they can't though.

By the way, I never did receive this email,  or the one from last week about the new safety protocols going into place. I wonder how they decide who gets notified about changes.

I called to cancel my January 9th Magic sailing about 8 hours too early.  It was lose my fare or move to a future date.  I pushed it out to a future date rather than lose the fare.

Will they let you do that?  I am supposed to cruise on the 31st.  It was a very, very cheap fare!!! That deal is now expired.  Will I be able to change the dates and keep that fare?

Yep. On board now.  We were in Curacao yesterday and left like 4 hours late.  Not a big deal. But things seemed odd somehow last night.   Then this morning captain came on and said not happening due to some positive cases on board that they are dealing with and following protocol on.  Bonaire wouldn’t have us.   Already assuming no Aruba tomorrow either.   Rumors are swirling that we are headed back early but no official notification on anything yet of course.   Also rumor that cruise director TJ has it.  He hasn’t been seen or heard from since Sunday (we boarded Saturday).  Speculation of course who knows.   Will update any official news I hear today or tomorrow.

Will you keep us posted?  Or start a new thread, if necessary?  Supposed to sail next week.  Leaning more and more towards cancelling.
