First time in decades I've seen the Galactic disc in all its glory.  It, plus all the stars just popping out, was positively breathtaking.

Just an FYI, about 2 hours east from ATL is a dark sky location. (I have land near there...otherwise would have no idea😂)

Denise - I hate packing up for a cruise and then it's over before it's even begun. I only take long cruises, but I really like the smaller ships and wanted to sail Elation, which only does short cruises. I'm driving from Virginia to Florida so I only have one trip for three cruises. The trade-off is I am repeating some ports.

    Safe travels to Jax!

Carnival Fantasy out of New Orleans in 2007. I was 8 years old at the time, and remember looking up from the port terminal, dumb struck, and shouting "Wow that ship is ginormous!" 13 cruises and 17 years later, that all seems tiny now.

I thought I was going to be the first Fantasy! 🤣

2006 Wife's new to her at the time company (been there nearly 20 years now) took their employees to sea for a kind of mini-conference. Spouses could tag along for a nominal fee.

The atrium, bars, and the cigar bar with Poker and all the wood in the back of the Fantasy class hooked me. I still miss those lounges.

Came home to my Mother in law totaling my boat and hitting my new car on the way by for good measure...Good times!

  4. Also note, someone on the cruise last week tried to cash in 4-5k in chips at the cage, and was presented with some form for SSN and info...

BTW adding the gift cards at the kiosks takes FOREVER. But, going to Guest services is no faster! lol

I liked Mardi Gras - but it's definitely a "cruise for the ship" as opposed to a "cruise for the ports" type thing.

I would definitely go on MG again, but my complaints would be:

    1) It's a huge ship - so plan on walking a lot.

    2) Comedy clubs are undersized and you will wait in a 20+ minute line if you want a seat

    3) No bar in main theater. No drink service either.

    4) Not enough public bathrooms - particularly near the theaters

Just finished an 8 day, never got off! Been to all the ports so many times. The boat was the destination for us.

  6. Just off the MG. Can confirm the cloth material was a bad idea. It's what 4 years in now? They show it. The Vinyl would have been a much better and likely durable choice. Mine wasn't anywhere near the OPs horror show but, there were...lets say color variations.🤢 Parts were getting a little threadbare. Covered the bottom cushions.

Cause now that's in my head. Great, more OCD!🤣

Just curious.  What exactly are you planning on doing if it's your room?

Skip the cashier and use one of the self-service machines.

They'll still catch ya if you go to the well to many times. Must be automated. Do it once, should be golden.

Buy gift cards at 10% off, still up 7%:classic_tongue: Gonna try guest services this week, Will report back lol

  9. I've never tried to cash them in at Guest Services. May try that this weekend.

So, I'm pretty new to cruising I did a Royal Caribbean last year and this year i am trying Carnival. I have been buying gift cards throughout the year with the intention of using them at the Casino. How ever i have never been a fan of slots I prefer table games. This trip I plan on trying my hand at Craps. So my question is how can i use my gift cards at the casino. I see people saying i can apply them to my S&S account then charge to your room at the table. but I'm also reading they charge like a 5% fee to do this(some locations say 3%) Which blows my mind. I have about $2500 worth of gift cards and I really don't want to start off down $150 before I ever place my first bet. Is there anyway to avoid this? This just seems greedy to me I mean they are already making money with the house edge and reading this feels like they are trying to nickel and dime players. I wish I had just saved cash now but this was a way to lock in the funds for onboard activities.

It's 3% unless you're on a casino deal. Or you can do the play the slots for a bit, and cashout to your bank and get chips that way.

I was not questioning your choice, just stating the difference in the two ships.

and closer by a significant margin for you.

Agreed on both counts. Miami means at minimum an extra days worth of costs.

It's weird walking through, mainly the area where Emeril's is. I like the overlook from Alchemy on the Celebration with the "Windows to the world" or whatever the windows are called.

How is the Jubilee setup? Is Emeril's on the outer wall of the ship, or some rodeo bar? 🤣

They are sister ships and the Celebration has a hundred plus more people.

They are but, things are slightly different and I prefer the layout of the Celebration.

That said, I board Mardi Gras Saturday again as I've had enough of Miami for a while.
