Quantum might do some pacific costal cruises before heading over to Hawaii, even for Serenade looks like a bit of a long Alaska season.
Where would the Quantum be sailing from?

As a solo traveler, do you have to pay double? There are some cruises I'd like to take, but friends and family can't get away. Going by myself wouldn't be bad.
I've always had to pay double for solo but think you have the whole closet and bathroom to yourself! Presently solo gets double points. Pricing studio rooms I find sometimes they are as expensive as a single - smaller and no double points.

Are there any hotels in the Galveston area that offer a shuttle from the IAH airport?
thanks!
I've stayed at the Doubletree and another (can"t think of name) - took hotel shuttle to airport and then shuttle (booked ahead) from airport to pier and from pier back to airport. Worked well.

Is this what you think will happen or is this real. I could not find it on Royal site. Thanks
Who opens the ports in Hawaii - Federal or State gov"t?

I would think so. I think that the next extension might take it to the end of the year. They extended the last time for 2 months.
Any crystal ball idea when it might be extended beyond Sept 1. I cruise Sept 6.

Maybe they will have masks that they give every passenger at boarding from now on
I hate a mask for even a short period - can't imagine taking a vacation in one. Anyone planned for eating and drinking aspect?

Got the same email. Yes it does seem like they made a mistake and are reimbursing instead of giving OBC at 125%.
Payment for on board purchases is not part of the original cruise cost so they are refunded in form that you paid for them.

Give everyone an automatic one level upgrade in status...
Diamond become Diamond Plus
Diamond Plus under 350 points become D+ with 350 benefits
Diamond Plus with more than 350 points become Pinnacle
Pinnacles become? Any suggestions?

Maybe instead of the over 70 crowd they should eliminate the people with kids, or maybe the 50's. Just because you are 70 does not mean you are in bad health. There are lots of young people that have major health concerns. And you all are assuming that they will keep the social distancing once this virus has calmed down. I know there will need to be changes made but to exclude an age group just because they are a certain age is asking for someone to implement a lawsuit against all the cruise lines.
I;m well over 70 and in good health. Someone mentioned not seeing many cruisers over 70 - maybe because we don't fit the profile of "old" that they have in their mind. Those with walkers and riding cars often are not "seniors".

I don't think people are being impatient. I think we all see what is going on in the cruise industry and are concerned about our cash flow just like the cruise industry is. I will gladly give it back to them in the future but I would rather hold on to it myself.
I agree. I don't want a FCC. I may cruise later but the "fall out" over and be able to access what the "new" experience may be.

Most people.
But the ones over 70 have all the health problems. Generally.

RCCL themselves consider anyone 55+ a senior, and you receive a senior discount when booking a room. Your age is just a number, and it does designate you a label-just like any other age group. But your age doesn't define how you feel. I know 85 year old's who have the spirit of a 25 year old. And I think that's wonderful....however for this purpose of this poll, seniors are the most represented group on this message board-and nothing wrong with that.
Think the senior discount is like the resident one - only occurs for a particular sailing. Never got a senior discount and a resident one once. Maybe I should change to another line!

Canada has an agreement for care of their citizens abroad? first I've heard of that.
Canadians travelling outside of Canada must buy health insurance.
Yes and it is also best to also buy something like Blue Cross to supplement the provincial health plan especially if you are a senior.

I'd be a bit more optimistic than that.
I think Canada will take that long to recover and still not tackle our debt made much larger by the covid programs that seem to roll out daily.

Good
Good points although I would highly dispute airlines ever “disinfect’ anything I’ve never gotten sick on a cruise...on a plane though, very often.
Agreed - no time between turnarounds. There is no distancing!

If a person is on blood pressure meds, doing fine, will that be enough to exclude him? Isn't that better than a person being undiagnosed and therefore not treated? I also think about the seniors who walk laps around the ship, use the stairs, etc, drink only moderately, have extensive travel experience and understand safety in ports, etc. I just find the doc note to be potentially hurtful and offensive unless applied to all across the board.
Agree - I have noticed many "younger" people who seem to require scooters and walkers. All require note regardless of age.

The chart would seem to suggest no Alaska and Pacific Coastal cruises in 2020.
I agree - especially none out of Vancouver until at least June 30. This virus outbreak hasn't even peaked in
Canada yet . -

They just added drink packages to my Harmony cruise for March. The refreshment package is showing at $45.22 CAD and the soda package is $17.96 CAD. That's pretty high.
But the deluxe package....get this....is $118.37 CAD! Say what?!?!?
A new high record. Anyone else seeing these kind of prices?
I noticed that several days ago the exchange rate was raised and the excursions for my Hawaiian jumped 12 to 15$. Another reason I`m probably going to cancel. Most are over $200 to as much as $700+. They were too expensive before.

Yep, some Travel agencies are being real a holes. It’s really sad because Roysl is still paying them their commission on cancelled sailings under the cruise with confidence policy.
are you sure it was a refundable deposit. The $100pp is a non refundable deposit.
You should look for a new TA. There are lots that do not charge these fees.
Last year I canceled a cruise with refundable deposit and the agent was rather `snippy`and said if I kept doing that she would charge me $100 for her work. I am weighing canceling my Sept cruise before final payment or gambling on the `cruise with confidence```. Presently it only extends until Sept l - I cruise on the 6th.

Well, if RCI is going to require a doctor's note to get on the ship, I guess will be in North Myrtle Beach enjoying the sand and restaurants....or Las Vegas and the shows. We are both 70+. My wife has mild asthma and I have A-fib. Both conditions are under control and have been for several years. We have a very fine family doctor, but I doubt he is going to sign anything like what RCI put out. So much for being a D+.
Also $50 to have Dr sign the note. I'm over 70 but am in good health just at the stage to enjoy a few "perks"! Not fair to have to stop cruising now.

I can’t imagine any cruise with passengers for at least a year from now and probably longer than that.
Is the State of Hawaii hit with a large percentage of covid19 cases?

Doubt it is gone but I am more optimistic about the cruise happening. Hope you are healthy as they may have tight restrictions.
I'm also on that cruise and am waiting until closer to final payment to make a decision. I think the problem will still be here and am concerned. Vancouver port is closed until June 30 - will it be that late before RCI makes a decision to cancel?
Will the buffet disappear with new changes ?

I feel with cruises within the last two years or so the dining time is less than that. In fact some ships have adopted the route of serving the appetizer and salad together and seem to speed up the service of all courses. With having to order dessert at the same time as the rest of items I've noticed dessert may arrive while one or more are still on main.
