  1. I'm sorry they wanted to reprice the cabins and charge you a few extra hundred more. It might be worth calling back again when you get closer to sail date to see if they can give you a better price. Or ask really nicely at the front desk when you are on the ship. Good luck.
  2. Oh, that reminds me - I was pregnant with my first on a cruise tour in denali. You spend 4 hours on a converted school bus, with no hot food available, only prepackaged food you bring with you. I got really nauseous and was trying not to throw up as I was staring out the window, when I saw a mommy bear with her two baby cubs. It was early June, just the start of the tour season and it turned out the babies had not been doing very well the previous fall, which was the last time they were seen. They stopped our bus and the rangers were all excited that the mommy and babies were doing well because they weren't sure they had survived the winter.
  3. Hi my kids would love to swim with the dolphins. But my youngest is 3, and is only eligible for a dolphin touch (not swim) program. Unfortunately, although the dolphin swim options are available all day long, dolphin touch is only available at 9:30 and 4:30. Our ship docks from 8 am to 4 pm. Would we have enough time to get to the dolphin place by 9:30? Cruise tour not an option because they only offer dolphin swim with a minimum age of 6. Also, are there any other places in Bermuda you'd recommend a family visit (kids are aged 11, 6 and 3)?
  4. Get a note from your dr stating your due date, and the fact that it is a healthy pregnancy and you are medically cleared to sail. I needed to eat small meals frequently when I was pregnant, so take food off the ship (sealed containers best. Fruit prohibited, yogurt in sealed containers or if they still have cereal boxes that's helpful). I was pregnant with my first two children on cruises (Alaska with my first, Baltics with my second) and it was quite lovely. tiring, but lovely. I loved always having easy access to food when I was pregnant. Oh, and bear in mind you can't have cold cuts unless they are heated to steaming (which most places don't understand and can't accommodate) so you might need to purchase food ahead of time for the plane.
  5. thanks - that's very helpful. Is there anywhere on the ship with good desserts (we are sailing on RCI adventure for the first time in August)
  6. It's a good, solid intergenerational line with very strong itineraries. The food on Princess is very good, so although on NCL we needed specialty dining, we were happy with the regular free food on Princess. The cost is reasonable. there's an excellent kids club for younger kids, although older children might prefer newer Royal or NCL ships. We've traveled with grandparents, parents and young children, and everyone loved princess.
  7. Here's an article addressing this issue: https://www.yahoo.com/news/cruise-lines-canceling-sailings-closing-115700546.html
  8. What were the buffett hours during your sailing? Was it crowded?
  9. Oh goodness - final payment was just last week, so I hadn't made any other purchases yet. Thanks for warning me - I'll know to keep a close eye on everything once I start purchasing internet or other add ons.
  10. I just wanted to post this in case it happens to anyone else when RC offices are closed. I booked 3 cabins directly with RC, and paid final payment on time online. Their system was a little glitchy, so I logged into the RC website to check that the balance was paid, and all three reservations were listed as having no balance due. A week after final payment, I got an email from RC telling me that two of the reservations were cancelled. The website still lists all three reservations as being active, and I called and they told me their system still has our reservation and the emails must have been generated in error. I'll need to check periodically, because we are traveling with 3 small children so there aren't a lot of cabins we can even use (need something quiet and one of the rooms has to hold 3 people) so if they give away our rooms we'd be in terrible trouble. I found this out at 1 am EST, and their offices close at 2 am. So I'm posting this in case this happens to anyone else at a time when their offices are closed.
  11. Under normal circumstances, Ocean Adventure has excellent hours for children age 3+. However, please be prepared for the possibility that covid restrictions may affect this. Prior to covid, it was rare for kids clubs to restrict hours, but they did have capacity limits and on some holiday cruises on some lines (I don't know about RC) children were turned away and parents lined up before opening hours to ensure a slot. The number of children sailing is likely to increase during the summer, so if your cruise is then you might want to ask here and on the family board close to your sailing to see how RC is handling it, and bring toys or electronics as a backup plan if AO is limited (and again, I have no information that might happen. I just know on some cruise lines there has been precedent for limiting admission during peak sailings for children in the past). I really hope that if OA needs to be limited that they do activities on the ship for kids - like turning a disco venue into a kids dance club and blowing up balloons and flashing the strobe light, or having the kids "make" cookies by mixing ingredients together (sandals did this, took the dough away and promised the kids they'd bake it and the kids could find their cookies in the cafeteria) or cookie decorating stations because otherwise there will be lots of unhappy parents, and other unhappy cruisers when a bunch of poorly supervised kids are running all over the ship.
  12. Thanks - I think that would be the only way to survive, and I'm glad I learned about the silverware on these forums because I wouldn't have thought about that or realized it ahead of time.
