  1. HI

Im going on NCL Jade in April. Im looking for some reviews on this ship. Thank you

Just go to the Reviews section of the Cruise Critic web site and put in the Jade. There are hundreds of user reviews. I wrote one for our February Panama Cruise and there are plenty more.

  2.:cool::cool:Just wondering about the coffe pot in our cabin. Never had one before. Is it furnished with enough coffee for two people to have a few cups? Room service is great but sometimes all we want is coffee and don’t want to be woken up by a call from room service

Our balcony cabin had a machine that would make one cup at a time. I just told my steward to make sure that there were four regular coffee bags in the cabin at all times and he made sure that that was done. They also have decaf if you prefer. Unless you are a "coffee snob" that is used to $5 cups of coffee you should be happy.

  3. Starting to plan on taking our 5 kids + hubby and I on a cruise next year. We are wanting to stay with Norwegian :) Because they are the BEST!!!! We are trying to decide if 2 rooms vs mini suite. Best value...does anyone know? They are ages 18-28. So there are 'big' bodies in the room. Not little tots.

I would consider two mini suites. You get a bigger bathroom and the cabin is a tad bigger. Putting four adults in a balcony cabin might be a squeeze on NCL. We did a mini suite on Princess and the cabin was much larger than an NCL mini suite but it was also more money. Good luck.

  4. Family of Four..... NCL Getaway. Would you risk a flight from FLL at 11:10am? Its this or drive to Orlando for an afternoon flight.....

If, after all of the feedback, you decide not to take a chance, you can check and see if a flight that fits your timetable leaves out of Miami. The cab fare would be a little more but you would have less stress about making your flight.

  5. This would be my 7th Cruise and first on ncl. Mini suite is nice, food pretty good but that’s about it.

Bar service...awful. Lines, being ignored. one time I was sittings at bar and was told to get in line if I wanted a drink. Really? WTH. Waiters by the pool? Nonexistent. Lost laundry. Ncl booked excursion Jeep tour with beach...no actually just an hour and a half in a sandbox because you can’t go in the water it’s not safe...

rude staff everywhere. Guest services not really helpful. We’ll get back to you...no they won’t.

I’m pretty sure the slow bar service is because of the UBP I believe they are trained to slow it down. None of them would survive a Friday night even at a local small bar. I feel sorry for people that didn’t get the UBP because they had to wait as well. I’m pretty sure there’s no way I spent even close to the cost of the package, I’ll know tomorrow if they itemized all the drinks on the final bill. Many times I just gave up.

Dinner in the MDR was a 2.5-3hr endeavor. I carried my daughter back asleep a couple times. Didn’t matter when you went it was slow, this was also a way to push you to the pay restaurants. Some odd things, at one bar a drink could be 13.95 and 17.95 at another. Or one thing was covered the next day it wasn’t.

Balcony never got cleaned from day one and had potato chips scattered about even after it was requested to be cleaned.

That’s what immediately comes to mind. Let’s see how they can botch up disembarkation....

When in comes to poolside waiters, the lack of them may be due to the fact that in past years one of the biggest complaints was that you could not have a two sentence conversation without a waiter interrupting and asking if you wanted something to drink. It was a real pain. I would rather go wait at the bar. We also don't cruise during spring break or when kids are out of school.

  6. We are going on the Getaway in January and our favorite excursion in Cozumel is the Fury Catamaran. They have 38 excursions listed now and Fury Catamaran is not one of them. What are the chances that it will show up eventually? I looked to book it separate from the cruise line and the date we are going to be there you cannot book independently.

  7. My family (all 25 of us) are sailing on March 18th on the Breakaway. We are all driving in seperately and arriving at different times. My family and I and my neice will be arriving at the pier around 10am to board. Can my niece check in with us even though she is in a different stateroom? Or will she have to wait until her family arrives.

She must be over 21 and have a copy of the boarding pass. Even if she is a minor you may be able to get her on with you if you have a filled out consent form. You should call your travel agent and have him/her get you a definite answer from NCL. If you call NCL the person you get may not give you the correct information which is a common occurance.

  8. I hate the hot stuffy cruise line shuttles and have been using cabs for the past few years with the exception of LAX. Trying to find a definite cab cost on line is about as easy as getting a Have suite for the price of an inside. Any help would be appreciated.

  9. My son got a 2 bedroom Haven cabin with the minimum bid. On a later cruise we bid a little more than the minimum and did not get the Haven. I think that it is just the "the luck of the draw". We were happy with the cabin we booked and bid what we could afford; if we got it, nice; if we didn't, nothing lost. Good luck.

  10. Norwegian is still honoring the 9+ month in advance double points like what they did with the old latitude perk before they changed it last year. it depends on the booking date.

i had a cruise booked in January 2017 for may 2018, all of my documents say the booking date is January 2017 so i should get the double points for booking in advance.

Booking nine months in advance does not automatically give you double points and has not in some years.

  11. I want to know for the exact same reason as you. If we earn double points on our upcoming cruise( which I believe we will earn as I’m almost 100% positive I booked a latitudes offer) we will head into our 2019 cruise as platinum members. However I cannot find confirmation on any of my documents...

Cruise points do not count until the cruise is completed. We have been on 10 Norwegian cruises and I don't believe that our points showed up in "my NCL" until the cruise was completed.

  12. I can't comment on RCCL but when it comes to cruising (we have been on 9 NCL and 5 Princess) we prefer Princess when traveling without any kids. It is a little pricier but we find the cabins bigger and the food and amenities better. When traveling with kids or trying to save a little money we go NCL. We have been on the Royal and Star and there is no comparison, Royal hands down. The Breakaway has plenty to do for kids and kids at heart. I hope this helps, it all depends on what you are looking for in your cruise experience.

  13. I know that his type situation happens once in a while. A couple of years ago I saw something similar happen to a cruise in the Caribbean on the Pearl. When I went on line to do a little more research I saw that no such cruise was listed. I called my travel agent to see what the deal was (one of the many reasons that it is nice to have a travel agent as they can get correct information faster than you can get yourself from a cruise line) and she found out that they had the whole ship booked for a charter group.

  14. Yes, to the above. With the promos , many do not understand the additional fees added for these.

Dining package and beverage package promo have 18% gratuity that you must pay.

As of June 6, suite guests must also pay these gratuities . This is in addition to DSC.

These items are already added to your cruise price, you will not get a bill for them later.

  15. I believe the service charge was in effect last year - unless you were in a suite or a UK booking. But if you have booked and paid for your cruise - the service charge has been paid if it was applicable to your booking. It's added onto your invoice when you book like port fees and taxes. Nothing additional on your room bill.

That is absolutely correct. I noticed when I "practice book" that if I pick the UBP as a free at sea choice my bottom line for the cruise is a couple of hundred bucks more. I do not choose this option but the UDP. On our last cruise I had to ask for my drink bill because a bartender and a waiter didn't look closely enough and threw my ticket away because the thought I had the UBP. If you look at a card real quick it is easy to see how they could make that mistake; in addition to the fact that so many people pick the UBP. When I saw the receipt there was no gratuity charge added.

  16. Anyone who has done a lot of cruising knows better than to expect a quiet cruise when school is out or spring break. I have read many reviews of the Haven and they have been far a wide positive. My son just did the Haven the Breakaway and loved it. The smaller ships Have a much smaller Haven area without a restaurant or bar; so that should be kept in mind.
