No. That doesn't satisfy the requirement.
I don't believe that that is true. As long as the ship docks, it fulfills the requirement. Nothing says that anyone has to get off.

Would the cruise ship be allowed to dock, but no one get on or off to satisfy the international port requirement.
The Canadian government said that the ships were not even allowed to cruise in Canadian waters; so, no docking.

Does anyone think the US would ever temporarily suspend the Jones Act for cruise ships? This would allow the Alaska cruises, just would have to skip the CA stop. I bet the Alaskan government would be begging for it.
There is no way the current administration is going to do that.

If Norwegian requires vaccination in order to board and you have not yet been able to get one because you are not in a catagory that has come up, will Norwegian refund your money or FCC?
-
If I am going to do that I would use my cruise money to do an all inclusive. No tendering required.

I have no problem wearing masks in indoor public areas, but wearing a mask while laying by the pool? Umm, nope. This sounds incredibly restrictive (removing only to eat, drink and take medicine). It won’t stop me from cruising, though. We’ll just make sure we get rooms with large balconies so we can enjoy our time without masks. I appreciate your optimism! At this point I’ll support anything that gets us cruising.
It, wearing a mask while on board, will definetely stop me from cruising. I'll use up my FCCs and do all inclusives after that. A shame because I love cruising.

We have been on 16 cruises and have one more booked for this year to Alaska and, if those restrictions are kept in place, it will be our last.

The origianal Regal Princess.
The reason - it was our first and, at the time, thought to be our last as we did not know if we would ever be able to afford another one.
Well, now that we have been on 16 cruises, that was not the case.
The cruise itself was to Alaska and I can remember more events from that cruise than any other.

I saw recently that it has been proposed that ships be required to sail with no more than 50% capacity and a whole list of medical requirements.
I can't see how any cruise line will be able to operate under these conditions and stay in business.
They will either have to, at least, double their cruise charge or go out of business. And, by doubling their prices they will just be delaying bankruptcy.
I believe that most large ship cruise lines sail at or near cost and make their money in the casino and all the other add ons.
How do the rest of you readers feel?
Just askin'

If you have a good travel agent, just call them and have them get the information for you.
This is one of the many reasons I have used the same travel agent for 20 years; she does all the leg work an gets any question I need answered without having to spend inordinate amounts of time on the phone.

Accpect my apologies if this has already been addressed.
If the cruise I have booked, with a FCC, is cancelled by NCL do I get the FCC put back into my account even up or do they add a percentage to it?
-
This is the result of another of the many goofy laws that our representatives refuse to address. Any foreign flagged ship that cruises our of a U.S. port must make at least one stop in a foreign country. No one wins with this law and U.S. ports and cruisers are the ones to suffer.

I have used the same travel agent for 16 cruises and never have had a complaint.
She does ALL of the communications between me and NCL.
I have never had to sit on hold on the phone and, as I have heard happen, have NCL say that my PCC no longer works there and whatever he may have told me is not true.
But, if you decide to use a travel agent, make sure that you get a god referral from a friend or family member. All travel agents are not created equal and many just take the booking and make you do all of the other 'leg work' from then on.
Good luck, whatever your decision.

The prices are 30% off. How can you refuse?
🤣30% off of the same cruise that before the pandemic was 50% cheaper - not such a deal.

Huge demand, tons of FCC that needs to be burned through, prices will be high for about 18 months after sailing starts back up. They will only come down if demands starts to go down, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Sad, but probably true.

What I've noticed is that the inside starting price doesn't seem out of this world, but when you dig in deeper to a balcony cabin prices are much higher. Think it may have to do in part with which ship/how many balcony/suite cabins there are.
The one I checked was on an older ship, the Dawn and, again, WOW

We concelled an Alaska cruise this year and got a FCC that paid for the same cruise next year with a $3000 credit left over for another cruise to be before May of next year.
Today is the first day I really started looking for a Caribbean cruise for winter of 2022.
OUCH, the prices were out of this world. Like I might be able to book a flight to the space station for about the same price.
I know that this has probably already been discussed by those who did not wait as long as I have to start looking; so, just consider this a vent.

Gotta' love my travel agent. She handle it all without any effort from me.
Your situation sounds like another good reason to get a good travel agent and stick with them.
If you do have a travel agent and they are not taking care of this for you, time to get a new one.
-
I always use a particular travel agent as those that do not give you a specific person don't always seem as accessable if there is a problem.
Also, make sure you only make a minimum deposit just in case things with the cruise lines go south.
Best of luck, and Alaska is a great choice for a first cruise.

I am sorry to hear about your plight but, by the same token, whenever you use a travel agent, never contact the cruise line directly; all communication with the cruise line should be made through your travel agent. Otherwise there is no reason to use a travel agent. It is their job to take care of all communications with the cruise line.

It seems that many seemed shocked by the constant changing of the rules, prices and benefits of booking a cruise.
It is starting to remind me of what I was told at the Social Security office when filing for retirement benefits.
The person taking care of me, when answering questions, made clear to me that any answer given today was correct, but, do to the bureaucratic rules changing, that next week it may not be.
Thoughts?

We took the fcc and, being half way intelligent, literate people, we knew that we were taking our chances.
NCL could declare bankruptcy at any time and we would be out of luck. And, like many others we were willing to take that chance.
You can't have it both ways. As the old adage says, 'you pays your money, and you take your chances'.

I Guess Alaska Cruises Will Be Cancelled Soon
in Norwegian Cruise Line

After reading as much as I found available on the Jones Act; there is no mention of any passengers having to get off in order to comply with the law. The ship just has to stop at a foreign port.
