I have a Seattle departure for an Alaskan cruise in July. I am hopeful but not totally convinced it will happen.
I have put a minimum deposit for the same cruise for next year just in case.
The only way I lose is if NCL goes bankrupt. But, I am willing to take the chance.

That's an easy question for me. All it takes is the cruise I have already booked for my Alaska cruise in July.
But, in order to cover my bases, I have put the minimum deposit on the same cruise for next year, just in case.
The only way I can lose is if NCL goes bankrupt. But, I for one, am willing to take the chance.
Life is too short to spend too much time worrying about it.

And worse than that, if they are holding your cash for months to ease their cash flow, how safe is it, some travel agents are in bad shape right now.
My travel agent always sends me a copy of the receipt from NCL when I make a payment; so, I don't run into this problem. A good travel agent is priceless.

I swear I saw someone post something similar to this but can’t find the post. We have cruise booked for Dec 12, 2020 but received an email from our TA asking for final payment. I am obviously trying to get additional info from her but am awaiting a call back. Our original final payment date when we booked the cruise was August 7th. Had anyone else been asked for final payment so far out?
If you are having trouble getting your travel agent to return your calls, it might be time to find a new travel agent. Don't accept the 'in these trying times I am having trouble getting through to NCL' from your travel agent. I have emailed my travel agent a lot in the last month and she has always gotten me answers in less than 24 hours.

Unfortunately, this is not a Cruise Critic issue. Its a bad ad from the ad network.
The problem that I have only appears after I 'click' on the NCL part of the Boards page, not on any other part of my browsing.

Another reason to find and use a reliable travel agent. Let them do the calling and worrying.

We have sailed out of there and loved it. But, one problem that can occur is heavy fog. Our coming into port after a Panama cruise was delayed by about two hours. Plenty of passengers who had earlier flights had to find new flights home at extremely high last minute prices, if they could find a flight at all.
So, the one piece of advice that I would give is to make sure that you get an afternoon flight home and not cut it close as you may have in the past.

Every time I have 'clicked' on the Boards portion of the CC web site a pop up takes over the page and tells me my Windows 10 firewall has been breached and I must download their program. This is the only site I have had this happen; so, members beware.

I would think that if NCL is going to require 'fit to travel' forms for those over 70 shouldn't they make easy to find forms available on their other than stellar web site? I don't want to bring a form from elsewhere and have NCL tell me that this form doesn't have what they want on it.

'Someone'? I think I'll just wait until the 'someone' is a person authorized to make such a statement.
I am a 'glass half full' kind of guy and am hoping to still make my July Alaska cruise out of Seattle.
But, as a cautious kind of guy, I have also put a deposit on the same cruise for next July. That way if we still go this year I can cancel after the cruise. If not, I just use my FCC to pay for next years cruise.

So, right on the top page https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/book-with-confidence
The NCL site seems to lay it out in clear language. Not sure why this explanation is "the worst". Policies are frequently changing now. You should always use what is on the NCL site before looking to CC members for their recollection of what policies are.
• For all cruises through September 30, cancel up to 48 hours prior to your vacation start date and receive a Future Cruise Credit for sailings through December 2022.
• For all cruises October 1 and beyond, you can cancel for a full refund up to 120 days before your cruise.
I apologized in advance and yet you still decided to castigate my abilities to navigate the NCL web site. Classy.

I have a 2019 - 2020 NCL worldwide cruise guide book.
In the book there are deck plans for the Encore.
But, if you go to the NCL web site the cabin catagory part of the deck plans do not match what is in the book.
What gives and which one is correct??

I have to apologize, in advance, if this is covered somewhere else.
I have tried getting information about cruise deposit refunds by going on the NCL site which is the worst and always has been.
I tried to search on the CC web site with no results. So, I am humbly appealing to my fellow CC members for an answer.
We want to cover all of our bases and want to put deposits on an Alaska cruise for next year now because of the great deals in case the cruise we have booked for this July ends up a no go.
Are the deposits refundable if our cruise goes ahead as scheduled and we cancel the cruise we book for next year?

If you stay in the Haven or one of the suites you get them mailed to you. All you cheap guys have to print your own. If It's a fiscal or logistical burden you can always have the luggage receivers put a tag on for you. They do expect a tip for such extraordinary service.
I would hardly call a balcony 'cheap'. It may be considered 'cheap' by a one percenter, but for the rest of us, a balcony is at the high end of 'affordable'.

Just got our tags also for May 10 cruise. No way we are going but we got tags.
How are you getting tags? I have had to print my own off for years.

I don't get this prevailing thought they're not sailing. How long do you think a business can survive without taking customers? They'll be sailing in May, probably late April, it'll be up to you if you're going or not.
I love your optimism. You, like me, seem to be a 'glass half full' kinda' person. Kudos.

I haven't reached the point where NCL has cancelled my cruise to Alaska in July. But, if they do, how quickly would I be able to use an FCC to book a cruise?
-
I would think that, if they were limited by logistics to slowly ramp back up, that the cruises with fuller ships and the most profitable will be put on line first. That is, providing the itinerary ports are all open.

What insurance company did you use ?
AIG Travel Guard. We have used it for every cruise we have taken.
We have had one claim when my father in law was diagnosed with cancer the week before our cruise.
I called to file a claim and talked extensively with the representative. They sent me all of the forms and I filled them out, following all of the directions implicitly. I was told not to call concerning my claim for 6 weeks following my filing. I received a check within two weeks. I have seen many complaints about this company; but, something tells me from reading their reviews that they did not follow instructions, thus delaying any returns.

What’s everyone thoughts on this ?
what do you think would happen if you have a paid in full cruise??
I have a May 2nd cruise and starting to worry a little bit with the market dumping as it is. NCL is now down to $7.xx A share.
what’s everyone thoughts.
I'm safe, my travel insurance covers bankruptcies.

I think that 'panic' mode is at work here; so here is my take.
The cruise lines are being 'socked' big time, financially by having to cancel all cruises for a certain time period.
They borrow money like all large corporations and have payments to make.
The FCC is one way to help avoid or delay the need for bankruptcy.
As time goes on some of these problems like your FCC will be fine tuned and I, for one, will let things shake out for a while.
Unless you have good travel insurance that covers bankruptcy, you should be glad that they are doing what they are; because, if they do declare bankruptcy you lose ALL of you money with no recourse. So, just be a little patient.

I thought that all cruises were cancelled through April 11?

I saw the same statistics and it seems that are not so much protecting others from getting the virus but helping to make sure that the most vulnerable (those over 70) are protected. I am with NCL on this. By the way I am 72 and have a cruise booked. I have no problem going to my family physician and getting the certificate. Just chill and do be so easily offended.
NCL age 70 policy??

Yes. And the problem I have with it is that NCL does not have an appropriate form available on their web site.
So, if you get something from your physician that doesn't meet their standards you may find yourself standing and watching your cruise leave without you.
If you require a form, you should provide one.
