  1. We did Celebrity Constellation med cruise last year from Amsterdam to Istanbul. Then b2b Black sea Istanbul to Istanbul had extra days in Amsterdam and Istanbul before flying home. Had a wonderful time even with the change of itinerary for the Black sea. Had a few sea days in-between to rest up. DH still keeps telling everyone what a wonderful time we had. Did quite a few tours with CC members on both legs.😃

  2. We landed in Zurich in mid-December and it had recently snowed. It was like being in a fairytale especially in the old town where we were staying. However we were told that it was a bit unusual to have snow that early so it's probably not a good bet for a guaranteed white Christmas.

The Christmas markets in Europe are just beautiful too and well worth a wander around.

We haven't been in Norway in winter but I think Austria might be worth a thought for a white Christmas and probably a bit less expensive than Norway.

We too are thinking about going. :D

Yes it will be great to do something different. Keep in touch would love to know what you decide to do. ☺

  3. I lived in Norway for a while. Over Winter note that it gets really dark, especially the further north you go. In Trondheim, you just see the sunrise around 11:30 and set a couple of hours later, and don't really get daylight. Further north, you won't even get that.

So it's good as an experience, but not the best time to go as a tourist. Oslo gets a bit more light, but it's still not a great time to visit.

You still get the white Christmas in mainland Europe - imo Germany is the best for that, with the Christmas markets and architecture.

Thanks for info. I am doing a River cruise end of August maybe we can do it again for the Christmas 2016. That's if they are half price again😃

  4. We've done white christmas's in London and Paris. Very different experience to those here down under. Unfortunately they've been land based, as with cruise ships following the sun generally, it's hard to tee-up a cruise with a white Xmas (can be done mind you...)

Having said that, we are actually doing both this Xmas. We are having Xmas in New York, and then flying down to Fort Lauderdale for a Caribbean b2b cruise.

Packing is going to be fun for this one.....

I have had a couple of Xmas in New York State when my sister use to live there. They are now in Florida have been to Caribbean but not to both extreme weather at the same time. Luckily you are allowed extra luggage with flights to USA. Great time for shopping😊

  5. When I first came to CC (almost 10 years ago) the roll calls were buzzing. Now we're lucky to see a handful of posters on some of them . What gives? Are there more lurkers than posters? Checking the "views" does suggests this.

Just feel it's a shame that enthusiasm has waned :o

It is a shame but everyone is different. Maybe it is shyness or just a concern they have on going online. I have found some roll calls more active like Celebrity than other cruise lines. I think it's great to be able to share info with fellow cruisers. So if you are watching this join in don't be shy 😃

  6. Thanks Tara. Found out it is the Nozomi not covered by JR which I think in the video this one was. I have the details how to get to Yokohama from Tokyo. Just haven't found a quick way from Kyoto to Yokohama. Will keep on looking.
