Did not put in checked luggage as I only brought 2 bottles on embarkation. At other ports brought 1 or 2 bottles just in my tote bag which went through scanner quite easy to see. Maybe I was lucky they were not confiscated. Must have been seen. We just took the wine for dinner in mdr no corkage fee. Other than that we paid for drinks but looked out for 2 for 1 deals.

On RCI we took a couple of bottles of wine on embarkation. Tried bringing more wine on in other ports ,went through scanner didn't try to hide it and they were not confiscated. No one made any remarks and I was not alone.

Pity RCL is not like P&O UK. We had a 14 day cruise from Venice in August/September this year and were able to take on wine and beer at embarkation as well as top up at each port as necessary.
The do have a corkage charge if you consume your take on in the dinning rooms etc.
Also for some reason their cabin fridges worked extremely well and the beer and wine was very cold to drink without the need for ice.
We were also on P&O UK this Sept and was allowed to take sprits as well. Brought a bottle of gin, tonic water and some lemons. We were also allowed to fill up a glass and drink it anywhere on the ship. Never come across this before. Good for us as paying in English pounds would have been expensive.

Congratulations to your dd. Thanks for sharing your great news

I was on a APT Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam 25 Aug this year. I started a thread on ' River Cruising' called 'all APT River cruise Roll calls' . I answered some questions on there. Had a good time but I think I prefer ocean cruising better. If you have any thing specific to ask I will endeavor to answer it for you.

What ship, what cruise, we want the 8:30
Solstice 26th Nov Sth Pacific
-
Great thank you for the confirmation. Have booked traditional seating 8.30pm waitlisted for 6pm.

Just double checking that tips will come off obc. I rang Celebrity and they told me I could not use obc to pay for grats. Do they just tell you that to stop people doing this ?
-
I see what you mean maybe they will enjoy it better seeing it after their cruise when they can relate to it better.
Yes we saw a Paul Gauguin too not sure where now but one of the ports in the Sth Pacific. It looked fabulous all lit up at night. Thanks for the heads up will set up a recording.

I was a bit disappointed with the documentary. We have been onSolstice 4 times and I felt they didn't show enough of the interior of the ship. Yes it was great to see the ports and how the ship runs, but I think it they could have done her more justice by showing the shops, different restaurants, bars, theatres etc.
I disagree it was very interesting facts & figures etc. Friends are traveling on her next month for the first time and I think it would have spoiled there wow factor if they had seen everything now. Leaves some surprises for them and others who have not sailed on her. 😊

Enjoyed watching the doco. Showed it to friends who are going on the Solstice in Nov for first time. All I can say they are very excited!!! Thanks

That sounds wonderful we took the boat ride around Milford sound very misty...but an overnight would be magic. We never saw it in good weather.

I agree we went in March and it got cold and wet in places but we were still able to get out and explore. Happy memories

Years ago we hired a car and stayed at B&B and cabins 4 weeks in Sth Island and 2 weeks in North Island. Fantastic time...maybe land touring is better for NZ.

My niece and her young family is probably just enjoying relaxing on the ship. Good to get away from stressful jobs and have the children looked after 😀

Yes we got 93 cents for missing Noumea and Lifou on the Dawn Princess, June 2009, I believe the compensation was just for Noumea.
It had to be used on a future cruise by a certain date so some people missed out, but we booked a cruise on the Sun Princess in time.:):):)
Lucky you I am sure it made all the difference... Lol

Actually it's been pretty calm, It seemsthey have steered away from the storms. At Times you could see them in th distance but it's been ok. It's actually funny where we are now so calm its hard to believe there is bad weather but if you ask the locals it read a paper you can see how rough it is. So I think they made the right choice.
I don't want a repeat of yassi. I was in the sun and a rogue wave went over the lido deck 14. Thankfully I was siting down at the buffet but even crew were sent flying. Few broken limbs etc. so I am totally fine with them being cautious
Yes thanks for the update I thought or hoped that would be the case. That yassi sounds bad glad you escaped.

Hi RecliningPanda, how is it on board now not to rough .....seasickness? I hope not for everyone s sake. Has Captain moved you into calmer waters?
-
Thanks. I know Princess does not have to and safety comes first but just wondered if they have done so in the past. We have just got off P&O Oceana in Venice 23Sept and we missed 2 ports Rome and Dubrovnik shame but again safety comes first.
-
Does anyone know if Princess compensate for missed ports or is it just bad luck. I have family on the Diamond 😕
-
Great thanks for that info. I am glad that there was good communication I think when people are left in the dark that's when situations arise. Looking forward to our trip and keeping my fingers crossed all goes to plan.

Thanks Madda relived to hear it. Did you have any problems with water levels on your other River Cruises and if you did how did APT handle it?
You will love Canada & Alaska we did that in 2005 with Scenic. I still talk about that trip today. We went in May first tour for the season and was blessed with stunning weather. But as always it is in the hands of the gods 😊
-
Hi Madda any reason you decided to use scenic this time? The reason I ask is because I have a B-A with APT in August and you are the first person I have found on cc that has been with them 😃

Thanks for the update notamermaid appreciate. Stay safe.
