  1. Did not put in checked luggage as I only brought 2 bottles on embarkation. At other ports brought 1 or 2 bottles just in my tote bag which went through scanner quite easy to see. Maybe I was lucky they were not confiscated. Must have been seen. We just took the wine for dinner in mdr no corkage fee. Other than that we paid for drinks but looked out for 2 for 1 deals.

  2. Pity RCL is not like P&O UK. We had a 14 day cruise from Venice in August/September this year and were able to take on wine and beer at embarkation as well as top up at each port as necessary.

The do have a corkage charge if you consume your take on in the dinning rooms etc.

Also for some reason their cabin fridges worked extremely well and the beer and wine was very cold to drink without the need for ice.

We were also on P&O UK this Sept and was allowed to take sprits as well. Brought a bottle of gin, tonic water and some lemons. We were also allowed to fill up a glass and drink it anywhere on the ship. Never come across this before. Good for us as paying in English pounds would have been expensive.

  3. I was a bit disappointed with the documentary. We have been onSolstice 4 times and I felt they didn't show enough of the interior of the ship. Yes it was great to see the ports and how the ship runs, but I think it they could have done her more justice by showing the shops, different restaurants, bars, theatres etc.

I disagree it was very interesting facts & figures etc. Friends are traveling on her next month for the first time and I think it would have spoiled there wow factor if they had seen everything now. Leaves some surprises for them and others who have not sailed on her. 😊

  4. Actually it's been pretty calm, It seemsthey have steered away from the storms. At Times you could see them in th distance but it's been ok. It's actually funny where we are now so calm its hard to believe there is bad weather but if you ask the locals it read a paper you can see how rough it is. So I think they made the right choice.

I don't want a repeat of yassi. I was in the sun and a rogue wave went over the lido deck 14. Thankfully I was siting down at the buffet but even crew were sent flying. Few broken limbs etc. so I am totally fine with them being cautious

Yes thanks for the update I thought or hoped that would be the case. That yassi sounds bad glad you escaped.

  5. Thanks Madda relived to hear it. Did you have any problems with water levels on your other River Cruises and if you did how did APT handle it?

You will love Canada & Alaska we did that in 2005 with Scenic. I still talk about that trip today. We went in May first tour for the season and was blessed with stunning weather. But as always it is in the hands of the gods 😊
