  1. Check Princess itineraries. We recently were in StP and did a Princess tour that took in the Hermitage and then we had 3 or 4 hours on our own. We roamed freely around the city and then met up with the bus at an appointed time and spot. No problems.

  2. Look at lmtclub dot com, they have great prices on hotels. Hilton is connected to the airport and station, breakfast is the best complimentary buffet we have ever had. Check in for flights available in lobby at no charge.

  3. Royal and Ruby have ground coffee. Not to bad. You need to pay attention to the waiters at venues to make sure when you request Decaf that is what you receive, this includes the IC. From someone who spent time in Medical for receiving the wrong blend. After 2 incidents our waiter ensured I received decaf.

  4. Look at British Air. They fly from BCN to LHR and then direct from LHR to San Diego several days a week. Good connections reasonable price.

Recently flew from CPH to LAX direct on Norwegian. Two class aircraft. Coach, low cost, you pay for everything. Premium all is include at a good price, comfortable seats, great legroom. We flew on a leased aircraft due to the delays in delivery of 787's. Would not fly them if I needed to connect to another flight until they mature in the US market.

  5. We did B2B on the Royal and were in CPH May 12. Rode Bus 26 around 10am with no real wait at the bus stop, got on the first bus that came thru. The traffic congestion is not so much from the cruise port but from the port itself. At a T intersection not far from the ship, cruise port traffic must stop. Port traffic coming from the right does not stop. Volume of traffic coming from the port is the issue. Hate to say but a traffic light would be a good investment to break the flow of the port traffic. Returning to the cruise port was no issue as the thru traffic did not stop from memory.

Bus drivers would not pick up those that tried to board from the inbound side of the street. The only stop serviced was outbound from the port opposite the UNICEF.

  6. We have returned from our cruises and had a good flight back from CPH on Norwegian.

First off the flight was operated by EuroAtlantic. We flew premium economy so my comments are for service in that cabin. The plane was very clean, maybe the cleanest I have been on. The flight crew definitely took pride in their aircraft. Bathrooms were well taken care of. Food was okay, choice of fish or chicken, small salad, and dessert. Wine and beer were served with dinner and refreshed several times during service. Coffee and tea offered after dinner. No decaf available but I always travel with a couple if packets. Breakfast was some sort of shrimp tart (did not eat), cheese, roll, juice and coffee. We had purchased pastries in the airport before departure.

The flight was about 5 hours late departing due to late arrival. I received a text advising of the delay prior to checking in. Meal vouchers were provided to cover expenses. We spent the time in an airport lounge at a small cost.

I would not hesitate utilizing Norwegian in the future.

  7. We purchased a two wine cards (Silver and Gold) on our Royal TA and did not use all the bottles. The unused portion was carried over to the following cruise. I also asked our waiter prior to purchasing the cards if we could use then on the following cruise with the response 'of course'. We also changed cabins.

The cards are only valid in dining rooms and restaurants. I did pick up a bottle at Alfredo's and took it to the room with no problem.

  8. After disembarking the Royal Princess on the 23 May, Light Blue 3 at 8:30, we were into the terminal around 8:45. Obviously many in the group had disembarked earlier as my bag was missing. Filed a missing bag form, walked over to the bus line and joined the throng. Walked up the line thinking I could find my bag and low and behold their was an elderly couple with my bag. They were distraught when I identified my bag with numerous tags. I referred to them by name as the bag similar to mine was still in the terminal with tags. Went back to the terminal the the gentleman and assisted him in getting his correct bag and withdrawing the list bag. My

Hubby and wife of other party remained in line for bus. By the time we got back the bus had arrived. Much delay with passengers not having coins for fare. Fortunately we had bought a 24hr bus pass on our first transit. From memory it is 7E for 2 persons to Central Station. The bus was packed. Passengers put bags on seats limiting access. Trip took almost an hour from boarding to Central station. This was before the 2 other ships in port disembarked. The bus trip is not for the faint of heart. There were a couple of people who had issues with standing and the heat on the bus.

After about a 100 yd walk from the bus stop to Central Station we made a quick connection to the train to the airport as we stayed at the Hilton. We were at the Hilton by 11:30am.

If using the bus system I would suggest buying tickets in advance and validate them once on board.

The weekday traffic is horrendous. Coming from the cruise terminals there is a stop sign whilst commercial traffic from the port does not stop. All traffic from cruise port needs a considerate driver making the turn to let them in. Once thru that turn you are ar the mercy of the traffic signals until you reach the main road.

Taxi wait times were far worse than other options. There is no easy transport from the terminal to the city or airport. Princess buses, HoHo get stuck in the same traffic.

Be aware if using the free wifi on the HoHo buses, my accounts were hacked and they were the only places I used free wifi in CPH.

  9. Looking at their schedule from CPH to LAX. Norwegian operates the Dreamliner Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Euroatlantic picking up Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. No flights on Sunday.

  10. MCRD has storage facilities but I am sure they will be full. I know MCAS Miramar does have space available at a reasonable rate. We store our RV at Miramar and when we stopped by on Friday there was a family doing what you are planning moving into the slot next to us. I cannot post the URL from my phone, Google MCAS Miramar vehicle storage. You need to have a valid ID to use the facilities.

  11. Yeah very odd for them to refund based on that. Never heard of it before.

I don't think Norwegian itself operates 777s so it'll be another airline that Norwegian has hired on a wet lease basis to operate the flight. Perhaps EuroAtlantic. The plane may or may not have Norwegian livery on it.

Yes, it will be operated by EuroAtlantic but with Norwegian crew according to the reservationist.

  12. Just a heads up to those who have booked Norwegian. We are flying from CPH to LAX on May 24th. Today I did a dummy booking to see what the fares were looking like for Premium. Found the fare had dropped $250 pp. Called Norwegian and they initially said that there was nothing they could do as possibly the flight was undersold and the fares were reduced. Asked if I could get a fare adjustment, answer no. As in a past life I booked many many flights for our company, asked if there was an equipment change. Low and behold that was the reason, Norwegian offered a full refund. I paid $18 for the agent to rebook and then cancel our flights. Departure and arrival times are the same, no Dreamliner, 777 instead. For $750 we are flying direct into LAX in premium cabin, checked bags, food, beverages. Not bad for a budget airline, but the primary factor is direct.

I am positive the same applies to those that fly into FL. Just remember to ask about equipment change.

  13. You can make a dummy booking on Norwegian dot com so see pricing and seat availability. When I booked, sometime in January the charge for a 2nd bag was $35. I think it was increased since then. Plus you are allowed a max of 2 checked bags per passenger.

We are doing the TA from Ft Lauderdale to Copenhagen on the Royal and then continuing on to Russia and back to Copenhagen. Leaving April 27th.

  14. We chose the premium for the reason it included more room, direct into LAX , one free bag (did pay for a second for one) , meals, beverages and hopefully more relaxing. I did consider the lower fare but did not want to pay for every breath. We are coming off a 26 day cruise with the last 11 being port intensive.

  15. Norwegian is scheduled to start flying into LAX direct from CPH on April 1. They have two flights per week. We are reserved to fly on May 24, will let you know how it goes. The prices are definitely good.

  16. I use Jucy car rental on all my trips to Christchurch as my car was destroyed in the earthquakes. Have never had a problem with them. Reasonable rates and a good additional charge for insurance. Check out their NZ website at jucy rentals dot co dot nz Rates are sometimes different.
