Your stress level may be lower but I cannot really think that the stress level of the over 100 people who are either positive or presumptive positive for COVID 19 is lower. I cannot imagine the stress levels of the families of those who have been admitted to ICU some in critical conditions. Wonder what Celebrity’s stress level is?

Miaminice and Mojogurued, perhaps you both need to read the thread Celebrity Eclipse exposed passengers to COVID 19 to see why I don't believe Celebrity looks after their passengers very well and why I think they do deserve blaming for how they handled the situation on the Eclipse.

It's not the fact that they had no kits that bothers me the most, it's the fact that they flat out lied about having no guests or crew members with symptoms. Petelang in post 243 describes his wife's visit to the clinic and it horrifies me that nothing was done on the ship re quarantining passengers or informing the port when you docked.

Many of us thought they did an amazing job.
That’s what constantly astounds me and is why I will never sail on Celebrity again

When I read the CNN report of the Eclipse, I felt what it was like to be the subject of a fake news story.
Well, at least CNN can't do much damage in the near term. With most airports and hotel lobbies now empty, 99% of their captive audience is gone.
You were involved in a fake story only it was of Celebrity’s doing, CNN made an error in saying the test was done prior to the woman leaving the Eclipse instead of when she arrived in hospital from the Eclipse.
I think there will be damage done by the cruisers who have tested positive since leaving the Eclipse, especially by the families of the ones who are criticically ill in ICU. I am continually bewildered how some of the cruisers who were on the Eclipse are so defensive of Celebrity. There is nothing like it on any of the other boards I read.- 2

Chuly, I am so sorry to hear about your friends. I hope the plasma donation is successful. The more I hear about this cruise the more horrified I am about Celebrity’s behavior.
-
Does anyone know whether the remaining passengers are still on the Eclipse and what is happening to the ship?
-
Phoenix Cruiser, no reason to believe he had underlying conditions, they are seeing more and more healthy young people being admitted in New York.

CruisinJayne, how can you think the right thing was denying they had cases on board with the symptoms of COVID19? You even admit there were people coughing. That behavior was not for the good of the people you met on your way home.
-
The passengers may have thought they were on a virus-free ship but the medical staff and Captain had to know they weren't, despite not admitting it.

But they weren’t a “clean ship” and had to know it. I feel embarrassed about that kind of behavior and I wasn’t even there.

Foxtrot, I am so sorry that this has happened to you and all the passengers. It is inexcusable that it was known about and none of you were told. It leaves me at a loss for words.

El tourists, did they tell you before you got off that they had a person with COVID19 or that there was a sick passenger?
-
Apart from the passenger who was sick en route, treated in the medical center and is now in ICU diagnosed with COVID19
-
Do you really think the medical staff did not inform anyone else about this? You are much more trusting of Celebrity than I am. I hope it wasn’t a case of them not wanting to deal with the major upset this would have caused it they had revealed it to the port. I am just bewildered that Celebrity could have let this happen. I can only think about all those people going home via many different ways possibly infecting people along the way.

How could the ship have not informed the port that they had an ill woman onboard who was exhibiting signs of COVID19? I just do not understand this. They have released all those people out into the community.

I'm guess I understand your point of view but I'm not really in complete agreement with it. I believe cruise lines were caught up like the rest of us in a very rapidly changing situation. Just like everything else in our current pandemic society. I think the current case of Celebrity Eclipse is a very good example of the commitment of this cruise line to do the right thing for passengers and crew members. There are current threads on this so I will not repeat the story here. Look it up if interested.
They were put in that position because they sailed when they should have cancelled. I agree they are doing what they can to make things right but they have to, otherwise what would happen to the passengers and crew?
It was obvious looking at the rest of the world what was going to happen here and some people and companies ignored it. Of course the virus is not their fault but I believe they should have accepted earlier that they needed to stop cruising.
I know they are a business and need to make money but they have disappointed me and in some cases, such as the Summit debacle which you can also read about on here, appalled me.
Thank you for your civil discussion, I’ve enjoyed reading the different replies.- 1

Covepointcruiser, the reason many lines are dealing with passengers onboard and closed ports is because they did not stop cruising in a timely manner and cruisers were happy to go along with that. It sounds harsh but I have no sympathy for them. There are too many things happening right now that we have no control over, they did and for whatever reason chose to sail.

Did you notice the age of those people? Only two in their sixties, the rest were all younger, incredibly scary.
-
How appalling that there is no mention of previous passengers testing positive for Covid-19.

Kartgv or more importantly, having you or your loved ones die? That could be the outcome for some of us. Sometimes I think that gets lost in people being annoyed their cruises are cancelled

-
So you expected every person who was on the Summit to self isolate when they got home? What about all the people they were in contact with on their way home? I cannot believe how you are able to defend Celebrity when they could have put so many lives at risk.
-
No worries or stress about you or your family contracting a dangerous virus? I wish I could say I felt the same.

Celebrity Eclipse exposed passengers to Covid19
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
You know we can go backwards and forwards with all these comments but what it boils down to for me is that Celebrity made a dishonest statement when they docked, a fact corroborated by some passengers on board who had to go the clinic and by the fact that many passengers are now positive for COVID 19. Also many passengers who have posted on here don’t seem to find that a problem and also don’t seem to care that they could have infected people on their way home.
I find it quite shocking and upsetting that companies and individuals can behave like this. It actually makes my stomach churn that people can have such a blatant disregard for others.
