We’re not going to put the cart before the horse.  When we get info from HAL we’ll decide whether to keep our Olimpia hotel or not.  No sense canceling something only to have plans change again.  If by chance they process us in Venice we would stay there anyways.

Riversedge, Yes I  agree , I am not cancelling till I have a confirmation from Holland. I really want to stay at Olimpia, we have never been to Venice.

But.... I am nervous about this whole trip.

Am I right in thinking this?? So we fly into Marco on the 11,  arrive there 1 pm , then transfer to Olimpia Hotel  and  In the morning (12 th)  we then transfer to the processing area (Venice* TBD) and they shuttle us to the ship where we get our antigen tests?  and after our negative results (fingers crossed) wait for our  boarding time....    Is this right?

Again thanks so  very, very much to this group you guys are THE BEST !

I believe that Medipac is just medical travel insurance and does not include any travel interruption or cancelation coverage.  The risk is that if you are tested in Venice before boarding and its positive you will be denied boarding and will be stuck with the costs of hotel and meals while you quarantine there waiting for a negative test so you can board a return flight home which will also be at your expense. That risk can be mitigated if you ensure your test is done (and negative results received) before you leave Canada and it’s with 72 hrs of embarkation. Unfortunately that doesn’t leave much time for enjoying Venice.

You are correct , we have other insurance for  travel interruption or cancellation.

According to Jamaica, an antigen test would have sufficed for entry there. I'm not sure who told you that it had to be a PCR test:

Along with an approved Travel Authorization form prior to boarding a flight to Jamaica, ALL travelers ages 12 and up regardless of nationality, are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 molecular (PCR, NAA, RNA) or Antigen test performed by an accredited lab for which the sample was collected within 3 days of the travel date. Know that we are well-equipped to accommodate on-island testing prior to your return flight, as well.

    https://www.visitjamaica.com/travelauthorization/

For re-entry to Canada, you require a PCR test. Nothing new about that. It sounds like you had your Jamaican and Canadian requirements reversed.

According to this Italian website, you do not require a PCR test as either a "negative result for a rapid molecular or antigenic test performed in the 48 hours prior to entry into Italy" will suffice. The information was updated "in accordance with Decree-Law no. 105 dated 23 July 2021 and the Ministry of Health Order dated 29 July 2021" and is the most current information.

Fouremco. ... If you read my post correctly I said  nothing about Jamaica's requirement . It was a   Canadian requirement on West Jet to board the plane both ways. And we knew that LOL .   We were all set to back and party another week at CSA.  Thanks .

  4. I don't know Fellow Canuks. We went to Jamaica a few weeks back on West Jet and we HAD to go to a  certified  Covid travellers  pharm to get  the travellers PCR  test. They were very clear no antigen test!

On our return we got the antigen and we were  going to be denied boarding if we did not get the PCR  test with pharm and dr contact on results. We almost missed our flight, seiously it was seconds when our test came .  Please be sure you get the right test! We are going AC to Venice Sept 9th and I know we have to have the  PCR. Just saying from experience..and that was a few weeks back. but hey rules are changing daily.

  5. 😎 I  have been using this passport /phone bag, weighs nothing, always secure in front of me, so NO pick pockets, cc on the right, vaccine cards on left and room for more.  Easy to grab my phone for pics. I have a larger phone too. Just orderd a new black one. Highly reccomend.

Sorry, it was posted on a roll call and they didn’t provide the link.

But this article might help you and apologies as I spelled Marghera incorrectly I see now.  https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/venice-cruise-ship-ban-government/index.html

I did find this but found the website pretty horrible.

Mind you it’s early - not even August yet so this could improve.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I am going to try a new lighter lens and a new strap!!

Debbie I made a finger strap for my 6000 it is so much easier to carry around in your palm and it also drop proof , and fingers are always on on/off button and dial. You can get them on Amazon  too. I have  osteoarthritis in my hands and this great weight distribution 😎  . Please try the finger strap it truly made the difference for next.

  8. Hello all,  Your thoughts and experience with the go pro with dome for French Polynesia, and  using the go pro for Meditterean . TRying to downsize to phone and go pro. Which go pro is your favourite? I have never used one but will purchase soon as stores open up.🇨🇦😎

If the a6xxx is too heavy, you have no other choice but to go to a P&S camera. That Sony is about as light as it will get with an ILC camera. Panasonic and Sony are some of the best P&S cameras out there. They will be almost as good, but rarely will they ever be as good as the Sony a6xxx.

Optics and sensors will be sacrificed on a P&S. If you are not doing large prints, it most likely will never matter. If you aren't entering photography contests, it probably won't matter.

** I also have the sony 6000, (love, love her). I plan on leaving  her home and using my iphone 11 pro max with the 3 lens, and picking up the go pro 9.   Its a hard call.

I think the outbreak happened in the hospital.   Our hospitalizations are also down overall.

🇨🇦  Bennybear   Your thoughts ?? Do you think we'll be able to travel Internationally this fall?  We're hoping  Ont. will have  our vaccination passport and  Canadians will be accepted into Europe. Looking forward to our 100% vaccinated Med cruise Sept 12,2021.
