It is in your Norwegian records when your birthday.
From Norwegian you will get a certificate for a small cake. You give it to the Maitre d' when you get ready to dine. Staff will sing Happy Birthday at the end of your meal. Ask them to sing it in their native languages.
Have a wonderful cruise and birthday. I have done several cruises over my birthday.

I sailed on The Sun out of Vancouver last September at the end of the season. Two ships docked both Norwegian and it was still a nightmare. UGH!!!

The best thing you can do for outstanding staff members is to fill out a Vacation Hero card for them. Each department has a Vacation Hero of the Month which based on the cards received. Promotions also come from those cards. They are very important to staff.

NO Norwegian ship has a self serve laundry.
I have been on The Getaway 7 times and know for a fact She does not have self service laundry.

On a 7 day cruise, my question would be: which is easier for you a Saturday- Saturday cruise which would be The Jewel or Sunday- Sunday which would be The Pearl?

(1) Unfortunately there is no way to know how long it will take to go through Customs and Norwegian has NO control of what happens inside the terminal. Some weeks it goes very smoothly others not.
(2) If you purchase a transfer through Norwegian, you will be given information and special luggage times. Yes, your departure time is assigned depending on what time your flight leaves.
(3) Yes, you put your luggage out the night before and collected in the terminal before going through Customs. You can get wheelchair assistance from the ship into the terminal. Once you are inside the terminal there will be lots of porters to help push the wheelchair and gather your luggage.
I use Norwegian airport transfers with almost every cruise and it works well for me.

Which cruise did you book?
Mine is February 5th to the 19th. Can not wait.

Yes You will have to leave the ship. You will receive all the information you will need delivered to your cabin.
The last time I did this, I was told to go to a specific location at a specific time. We were led off the ship, had wait a few minutes and go through the Customs and the boarding procedure and led back onto the ship once again. I think it took about an hour.
The last time I did it, my travel agent printed out my documents for both cruises and gave them them to me. Each set was for a specific cruise and properly dated. I think I had to get a new room key from the Guest Service Desk.
If you have perks coming, they will be delivered to your cabin as usual.
I think you would need a Spa Pass for each cruise.

Morning,
Just curious about the "host" (fellow cruiser who coordinates it) of a Meet & Greet. I have attended several in the past and each of the hosts really bust their tails gathering names and communicating with NCL and Roll Calls, etc.
Other than receiving a "Thank you" from the attendees..... do these hosts receive anything from the cruise line? I know NCL asked for CC log in names when we signed in (nothing really ever came of that so not understanding the reason).
The CC Meet and Greet host may or may not receive perks. It really depends on the Senior Hotel Management.
This purpose of recording the names, give Hotel Management an idea of the percent of guests attending versus of guests that the Host says will attend. In all the me M&G's, I have hosted somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of those saying they will attend actually do. The numbers the Hotel Management get each week, helps they to prepare better for for the next group- so they can prepare the correct amounts of goodies and beverages and have the right size venue. It is a way for keeping track of numbers for people in the Corporate world.

You board on Deck 7
Terminal B will board forward
Terminal C will board aft
A good meeting place would be on deck down on Deck 6 in the Atrium which is the lobby area. Lots of places to sit and watch the world go by. The Atrium Bar and the Coffee Bar are in the lobby.

Christmas will be wonderful.
There will be Santa Claus for the kids, Christmas Carol singing led by the Hotel Director Errol Bailey and the lighting of the Atrium Christmas tree.
I has so much fun last Christmas, the lest for me in many years that I could wait to go back. I am so looking forward to being back on The Getaway for Christmas. This time it will be a Sea Day rather than a Port Day, so I am sure there will be lots of things planned all day.

We booked 2 balcony rooms and 2 inside rooms with the understanding that the kids would be in the insides and the adults would be in the balconies, which the NCL agent allowed us to do by booking an adult in each inside room. He said it is just on paper that way but once on board we can switch around. I was wondering if we can switch our room numbers once on board so that we could get into the room we are actually staying in with our ship cards. Has anyone had experience with this? Thank you in advance for your help.
Do you realize that on The Escape Inside Cabins ARE NOT across the hall from balcony cabins. They are down a separate corridor.

We have never been on NCL (CCL only and only with FTTF). What time are the rooms generally ready? Is there an announcement when it is clear to head up or something?
I am just trying to figure out how much stuff to pack in my carry-on bags for DH and myself and how much to just check.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Yes, announcements are made when the rooms are ready.
Most of the time they are ready about 1:30 P.M.

You also might want to meet with the Restaurant Manager early in the cruise no matter what restaurant you choose for the Birthday Dinner.
-
I eat at least one meal and some times as many possible every cruise (29 and counting) in La Cucina.
You can ask that pasta be cooked in olive oil rather than the sauces, if you are weight or dietary issue.
Have you joined the Roll Call for your cruise. There might people on Roll Cal who can make suggestions as well.
Enjoy

I usually have my birthday dinner in either Cagney's or La Cucina.

The Welcome Aboard Show is usually at 7 P.M. and 9 P.M., check in the Freestyle Daily you will be given for exact times. The show runs 45 minutes to an hour.
On Friday night there will be a Farewell Show. At the very end of it, staff from all over the ship will go on stage and be recognized department by department. All of the Senior Officers from both the Hotel side and the Bridge side also go on stage. At the end off the show they form lines going of the theater "thanking you' for sailing with them. It is a show in itself.
Mostly importantly relax and have fun.

You are going to have a wonderful cruise.
The Pearl is great ship with a wonderful staff.
Lots of outdoor space to see the world.
If you have not been to Seattle before, make sure that you are outside when you sail. You will sail past the Seattle Space Needle built for the 1962 World's Fair. It is something to see.
Have a great time.
-
It could be too, that your cruise was the LAST Caribbean cruise of the season. Always tough on staff. They sailed for Europe the night of the 23rd.
-
Who were your Senior Officers both on the Hotel side and Bridge side?
-
I have dinner and lunch with a variety of staff members both Senior Officers and regular staff members all the time (30 cruises and counting). Some have to their supervisors' permission. Always an enjoyable time.
-
No, fireworks ended last summer.

You will find a wide variety of people who attend the Meet and Greet set up in the Roll Call. Very often you will find solo passengers like myself, couples and families. Age ranges from late 20's to late 80's and every age in between.
Right now, I am working with 4 Roll Calls and all but one have families sailing on that cruise. By the time the 4th sails, I would also expect to have a family too.
The Roll Calls very often enable family groups to plan things for the kids in each family or make recommendations of what certain age groups of kids may or may not like.

shoeper,
I will soon be heading back to The Getaway for my 8th cruise on Her. This time I will be on for 22 straight days- I CAN NOT WAIT!!!
She is a wonderful ship and with a great staff.
I do agree that the Tropicana is very loud, but it was built to replicate a 1940's Miami nightclub.
I hope you have a wonderful time. Welcome to The Getaway and to Norwegian.

Ship time and local time are the same.
