  1. Thats what I would try to do. See if another cruise line was leaving within a few days to anywhere and take that. Not sure if Fremantle has alot of ships going or if there is any vacancy. anyone on the ship try this?

Or book a nice hotel somewhere. There are always alternatives, especially when you are getting a full refund and a free cruise. It would be disappointing but I could live with that.

  2. I am with you, I don't understand all that pre-pay fuss, one way or another it comes out of my wallet. I know how much I can afford to spend before I book my cruise,so there are no big surprises when I get the final bill.I use a credit card that has no outstanding charges on it and a decent credit line. Send one check to pay off the charges and get it over with...no fuss. no muss

You can fool yourself and think you don't owe anything, I suppose.

  3. I took this cruise last year and thought this was the best port. That is the reason they overnight. We stayed at the Port royal Hotel which was great.http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g155033-d1165043-Reviews-Le_Port_Royal-Quebec_City_Quebec.html

Nice rooms and great breakfast. If I had it to do over again I would probably stay on the top of the hill at a hotel near the Fronteac as I did not enjoy the walk up the hill( There is a funicular) Fronteac was under renovation and expensive.

You could check in to the ship the second day. Some did on our cruise

  4. Sorry, there was one good desert per night on My canadian cruise last October. Two others were gluten free and sugar free. the always available menu has a cheesecake which has no taste, really bad, and the princess dream which was not very good at all, although this can vary and I would try it again. The Ice Cream is normally pretty good. Take your waiters advice when picking a desert.

I am up to 15 cruises. the Princess deserts used to be outstanding , not any more. Also You used to be able to order soufle every night. we say them maybe 2-3 times on a 10 day cruise. the one desert they had was usually pretty good but it would be nice to have a 2nd choice.

  5. What wrong? Food? Rusted Balconies? What? The food is definetly not as good as a few years ago and the selections are quite limited. Normally only one desert per night unless you want sugar or gluten free.I will probably try another line after my upcoming British Isles cruise in august. The reviews of Celebrity seem to be up and down. Seaborn, Oceana and crystal would definetly be better but the cost is about 50% higher.

  6. They will offer to upgrade you from an outside to a balcony for $99.00 or maybe $199.00. If all the insides and outsides are sold out and no one accepts the upgrade for cash offers, they will upgrade people for free, assuming they feel they can resell the lower priced cabins.

example: on my Aug 3 British Isles crusie outsides are sold out and very few insides are left. About 80 Balconies not booked. The ship will likley not sale with 80 unbooked Balcony cabins. I would expect that if this remains constant, people will start seeing upgrades for cash offers about 3-4 weeks before the cruise.Problem is that with the air fares so high to Europe, they may find those willing to buy up non existant.

  7. 1. Don't pay when offered upgrades for $199 from say a outside room to a Balcony. As good a deal as this may seem, this is a way to deny Princess more revenue from you. Let them give away the upgrade if they want to resell the cheaper cabins and fill the unbooked Balconies. On my British Isles cruise there were 100 unbooked Balconies with all insides and outsides sold out.You can help pay for the room service charges this way. That is what I will do because I want room service.

    2. They won't care how many of you decide not to use Room Service because if anyone uses it it they will be collecting more than they used to, which was $.00)
  8. A group of 4 of us all had Balcony staterooms for an upcomming British Isles Cruise. When the price stayed over 3k per person even though there are 100 Balconies unsold, we rebooked and took Obstructed view Rooms and saved 1k each. They sold all the insides to Brits for about $900 pp. So they are getting a deal. We are not, and having to pay high airfare to get there.

We also feel the food is not as good and there are not as many chocies as before, so we are no longer willing to pay a premium price to Cruise. It is a floating hotel and we will treat it as such.We still enjoy Princess. It is just different.

The Room Service charge may be used as tips for the people that do it. No one I have ever cruised with has tipped room service extra, and maybe thats the problem. We have always left the auto tips on and even tipped extra for extra service but were told by room service their tips were inlcuded in the pool of auto tips.

I have always enjoyed getting my cup of coffee from room service in the morning, along with a pastry. The last few cruises the pastries were bad and the Chocolate croissants were just ok.They can't decrease the quality and increase the price. It just won't work. I may not use room service much anymore. We will see.

  9. You would have to drink 5 or more Alcoholic drinks a day just to break even. I drink a soft drink once in a while but no way is that package worth it for me. i am trying to drink less soft drinks, not 5-6 a day. The coffee card might be worth it but I have never bought that either. I drink the standard coffee and find it fine. At home I drink Starbucks and Peetes.

Someone else may eb able to provide exact prices. Alcoholic drinks seem to be from 5.99 to $10.00. Soft drinks wre about $2.00. drink the water from the tap. excellent water.

  10. Last time I was offered one on a 10 day canadian cruise they charged $199 per person. That was last October. It would seem if there are no more outsides available and 120 Balconies and no one bites on the up sells they would probably do free upgrades to re sell the lower priced cabins. we wills ee. My bet is we will get some kind off offer after the final payment , maybe within 2 weeks of saling
