  1. Enjoy!!!! There's nothing wrong with giving another line a try, or spicing things up!!! I tried my first cruise with RC out of NJ, when they were less than CCL going out of NYC for almost the same cruise. Did two cruises with Royal, and then back to Carnival, just because they have the itineraries I want, at the time I have to take vacation. Enjoy your cruise, and be sure to come back with a review of your cruise including a comparison. Happy Sailing!!!!

I am also looking forward to a "comparison" review on your return. Enjoy.

  2. We were getting off when you arrived. It was Sunday 2/2 and we were not late getting into Long Beach, we arrived on time. We were late getting into Maui. our first stop, due to rough weather. We were off the ship by 9:30, did self disembark, and were at LAX by 10. When we embarked on 1/18 there were all kinds of porters at the parking ramp drop off. They do have you standing outside when there is a long line, it stretches thru the building to the outside.

  3. On RCCL if you visit the coffee specialty shop the pastries are complimentary when coffee is purchased. Is that the same on Carnival.

Can anyone tell me the times of the Seaday brunches.

Does anyone know if the partitions on the balconies are removable. We are one of three couples on the Miracle with cabins next to each other.Thought that would fun to be able to visit. I know we had them opened on HAL.

    Thanks.

Regular balcony dividers are unlocked, swung open and clamped to the railing. There are a limited # of clamps available so ask early at guest services.

  4. I have purchased 3 Citizen Eco-Drive watches on the shops so far. Like I said, I can't find a better deal on land. One I damaged the crown on...I talked to the employee that sold me my latest one on my last cruise and she told me they would repair it or replace it if it can't be repaired. I am taking it in March to see what they can do for me.

Same here, have bought 3 eco-drives over the years onboard. Always cheaper than anywhere else and all 3 are still in great shape.

  5. No rules against it, have seen some do this but they might have been just "passed out". No need for sleeping bag as the lounge chairs are comfy, also the towels are good for a cover up so I would not bring anything extra along for this purpose.

  6. I have had just the opposite with the Future Cruise Desk. I, along with several others, attended the information talk and while there was a push to sign up for the credit card, there was still alot of information given concerning the different ships and upcoming itineraries. After the talk, she took our names and set up appointment times for us to come to the desk and book our cruise.

Went at the appointed time, set up the cruise and all has been good. Admittedly, I do check on my booking on a regular basis, sometimes as much as every day, since I am always so excited to be heading out on another cruise.

NOT every Future Cruise Desk employee is incompetent, and I believe that there are more who are very knowledgeable then what we hear about, simply because we tend to not speak aobut the great service given, but more about the poor.

While Carnival has made an error and should make good on that error, it is also the responsibility of the cruiser to be sure all is good. I would never wait more then a day or 2, if that, after a payment was due, to be sure it had been done.

Same experience for us. Have always booked while on a cruise. Only complaint was one year I bought 2 future cruise certificates, one for us and one for DW's brother and his wife. When they booked a week later we were unable to use both certificates as they had booked their own room, something the rep neglected to tell us when I purchased them even though we had explained our plans.

  7. Guess I'm kind of boring, I just hand the money to anyone that has gone above for service. MDR staff on the last night.

Same for us. Usually tip the room steward on the first day. Does it make a difference? I believe so. We travel with our best friends who do not tip extra and they are always remarking that we seem to get better service from the steward than they do. We always have balcony cabins next to each other so we also have the same steward.

  8. We had an early flight and got to the port by 9am. We were able to check in at the Queen Mary and received Zone 1. We sat in the area closest to the boarding doors and enjoyed the music that was playing and people watched. Once the weddings and VIP were on it was our turn. We were on the ship by 11:15. Seemed like we were the first 100 on board!

No need for FTTF in Long Beach if you arrive early to the port, in my opinion.

    Enjoy your cruise!!

Same for us, it was a few years ago on the Splendor. Going back this January for a Miracle cruise and hope it is the same experience.

  9. I totally agree with Heather. This is a great hotel. I stayed here in Sept after my Allure cruise and really liked it. Free wi-fi in the rooms, free breakfast that had some cooked food, free shuttle to the airport and within a few miles of the hotel ( but not the port). All the rooms have been renovated and mine was very nice. Reception staff were excellent. I walked to the beach to watch Allure sail away that afternoon - about a 30 minute walk.

Personally, I prefer this Hotel to the Hilton further down the road. Both are nice hotels but Hilton did not provide me with the free items listed above.

I just used Priceline today and am staying at the Hyatt again in December after another cruise.

    Andrew

We stayed there in 2011 and 2012, Have booked them for 2013 also. Have always been very satisfied there and treated exceptionally well. This is a good choice, don't fret at all. By the way the shuttle from the airport is free but to the port is $7 pp now.

  10. Ya know, I tried to beat the 40% off prices on citizens watches. I could find older models more discounted .. but I did not find them ADVERTISED cheaper for ECO drive.

Several sites did say to call up and sounded like they would further discount, but I could not find a cheaper price than the usual 40% off for eco drive watches, only the regular ones... which I suspect are older models.

Just a FYI .. starboard runs almost ALL cruiselines gift and duty free shops. Its not like the informatino is hidden, I know Iv mentioned it numerous times. In fact I bought a ring and the stone fell out on the way home on Voyager and I was on Conquest next, and they said you should just have brought it with you.. doesnt matter which cruiseline you bought it one.

I have purchased 2 Citizen ECO drive watches onboard Carnival, 1-4 years ago and another 2 years ago. Never had a problem with either of them and both are still running great. After I bought the first one and we returned home I did some price checking at various shops around town here. No one here could come close to what I paid onboard so I know I saved some money. Not sure about other jewelry onboard but am definety pleased with their watches and would reccomend them.
