  1. Independence had docked; let’s all have a moment of silence and reflection for the safety of the passengers………..especially those with UK based travel insurance <sarcasm>
  2. They didn’t surround a ship; good lord. A couple dozen fishing boats moored in the channel so a ship could not approach; this was a PEACEFUL protest against the Haitian government and fuel prices. Royal did not dock that one day I agree not to position yourself in a position with a high rate of failure. Currently the failure rate at Labadee is 0%
  3. You miss the times of early and late set time dining? it still exists
  4. No one seems to appreciate the fact that this type of behavior does not serve the purpose not have any profitable motive.
  5. Zero concern of mine left $60 for my room steward this week mid way through the cruise; left it on the dresser with his name, I never saw him receive it.
  6. We have a JS on Odyssey this week. We purchased a 3 night dining plan, made those reservations upon boarding and then went to CK and made dinner reservations for the remaining 5 nights, no problems at all. We prefer to eat early so that may have helped our cause, I can’t say.
  7. I did fail to take into account the jet skis. mea culpa 🤪🤪
  8. Call me when any revolutionary steps foot on the peninsula; we’ll see who’s delusional.
  9. If you think there is anything at all in Labadee that these gangs want you are dreaming.
  10. This is not a new phenomenon. The Haitian government has been a “front for corruption” for generations.
  11. Keep in mind that’s just port fees; much much more than that in money exchanged for services and goods, and the salaries of those employed directly by the port, lease payments for the property, school and hospital facilities…………. Regardless the impact is not the concern of Royal, Royal brings the consumer, it is up to the island to capitalize on it
  12. The economic impact of Royal Caribbean to the Haitian economy is near US $1 million MONTHLY
  13. He isn’t wrong, businesses are closing at a historically high rate. The CEO of McDonalds stated in their quarterly earnings call that they were downgrading their annual forecast by a considerable margin.
  14. Tell me you don’t understand business with saying “I don’t understand business”
  15. Furthermore, the crew want the cash, not the Ponzi scheme of the auto gratuity
  16. My annual travel policy has ZERO exclusions as relates to geography. some activities are excluded pending purchase of additional riders. My policy treats (always has since the advent of the disease) Covid as any other disease, no problem there. Comparing Haiti to Syria is hilarious. Your government has decided to leave you high and dry because you have the audacity to spend a day at a beach resort - big government run amuck. Safe travels, and be sure to get someone from the foreign office to sign your permission slips.
  17. A policy that doesn’t cover you for what YOU want to do and can arbitrarily add and remove destinations and presumably situations is a poor policy; certainly one I would never invest my money in.
  18. I am 100% with you, wife and I talking about following her over to Europe
