  1. You really think he used poor judgement???

The only poor judgment I think he used was going to find her and missing the,ship.. He should have just left her travel documents with the port authority. I bet she is probably late for everything and her family and friends accept and, excuse her behavior.

  2. Poor planing or just bad luck but we have 67 days under our belt and have a 7 day cruise booked in February. This will put us at 74 days as we exit the ship, one short of platinum. It is going to be hard to book another cruise before February (cost, time, etc.). This will be our 13th cruise, is there anyway to make an appeal and try and make this a platinum cruise?

Probably not. If it makes you feel better I completed my 13th cruise with Carnival after my 4,day Halloween cruise in 2015. It put me at 62 days. I have 2, 4 days booked,for,2016. So I will be platinum on my 16th cruise a 5 day in January 2017.

  3. You want a refund or credit for a port change due to a hurricane, 5 years ago?:rolleyes:

Since they changed ports...no compensation....not even 5 years later.

Lol.....not even it had happened 5 minutes ago... if they got port charges and fees credited that would be great considering they docked at another port and weren't charged .

I have only missed 1 port in 22 cruises. October 2005 when Wilma destroyed Cozumel, only received port charges and fees. And had glorious weather in Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

  4. I read that article. It was at Nassau. The family was on the Norwegian Breakaway. The father and 2 kids 9 and 12 were on board on time. The Mom was not . The ship paged her. Dad meet with officials and decided to get his and his wife's travel documents and go ashore and look for her. The ship waited 30 more minutes. They weren't on it and it departed. There is also footage of the Mom on the dock screaming and carrying on . The kids were with family, maybe next time Dad will stay on board and just give pier officials Mom's travel documents. Don't mean to sound harsh but the rest of the family made it back on time., why didn't she?

  5. No premier offers for me. I was getting premier offers last year when I didn't have someone to go with me... now i have someone going with me on a cruise i have booked for this year... and no premier offers. :( The cruise i have booked is a casino offer with funchips... nice offer... so i am seeing the same thing i saw last year... once booked on a casino offer, no more offers until after i sail...

On my last cruise, i did well in the casino... my daughter and i were both given the dou cards, after the 2nd day i think... and hosts came over and told us they had made reservations for the steakhouse, on them... and we were also comped a bottle of wine when there... they also sent cookies to our cabin a couple of nights... and yet, i was told i get my offers based on win/loss. Hmmm.. I was also told that some offers have different qualifications, and that they cannot disclose them. Just can't figure this out... I should have qualified for pack and play and premier offers... but they are not there...

I am booked on a nice offer from them though, which i do appreciate :D

I have 2 cruises booked this year with casino offer and obc. I also received the premiere cruise offer. Hopefully I will get to book a premiere cruise but happy to get the casino offers that are basically port charges and fees with obc. ( all cruise dates and out of Galveston since I live 30 minutes away )

  6. I asked and she said Carnival's Guest Services is closed for the day. :(

I have called and changed things in my booking as well as booked a cruise at 1 am. Carnival agents can be reached 24 hrs a day. I dont use a TA for this very reason, I want to have communication with the cruise line instead of going through a middle nan.

  7. She "forgets" to ask because she's distracted... sweet as can be on all other things. Maybe because I'm the type to pick out what I don't like or just eat anything that lands in front of me - I don't get it! I'm the easy one out of the four...waitstaff is gonna love me!

She forgets because she is passive aggressive and is seeking attention. What a load of baloney... stop making excuses for her and for yourself. You seem to love pleasing her. Accept it , move on.

  8. This seems to be an issue with Carnival at least in Galveston as Royal and,Norwegian allow their drink program to be used on embarkation day. I have always theorized that Carnival uses the "law" as an excuse when in fact it's just that they don't want a bunch of complaints by cruisers who want better liquor than they offer until reaching international waters. They just don't want to pay Texas the extra tax and I don't blame them.

  9. I wasn't really all that happy about banning us from bringing on our own water, since we prefer Deer Park spring water to filtered water, but at least it was almost reasonably priced (almost).

But now, almost $8 a case for filtered water? Really?

I'm sorry we invited friends who've only sailed on Royal before to come on our next cruise. I'm just not happy with some of the choices Carnival is making lately. And the American Table menus look disgusting.

This just might be our last Carnival cruise.

Hahaha. ...this surely has to be a joke.

if $8 for a case of water is too much a staycation may be a better idea than a cruise. As for the American table and feast menus, why don't you give them a chance before judgment? They are better than anything in a Royal Caribbean MDR,. I know I have had both.

  10. I agree. Leave the bookings exactly as they are...and just get extra keys. Carnival doesn't care where you sleep. For the sign and sail, you can link your sign and sail to someone from a different room/booking so I would say each set of spouses could still be on the same sign & sail...just not on the same booking.

    Exactly this!

  11. Four day cruises are not always cheaper especially out of Galveston since its Thursday thru Monday essentially a long weekend they are always, more than a 5 day and about $100 less, than a,7 day. Maybe, out,of Miami where they depart on a Monday they're cheaper. You also still get a free drink coupon . I like them and take,at least 2,a year for a,quick getaway and recharge.

  12. Whether it was busy or not isn't really the point. Hotels are rarely filled to capacity for the same consistent number of days in a row. And no hotel checks every guest in and out at the same time like a cruise ship. So yes, they may have unoccupied rooms available to accommodate early arrivals.

Nevertheless they have check-in rules and timeframes that everyone has to abide by. And unlike ships, hotels don't have half of a ship holding thousands show up at once to check-in AFTER they have been advised when check-in is in the first place.

Everyone loves to leave out the basic fact that Carnival wasn't always this stringent. When they politely suggested check-in times, many people ignored it. And it wasn't entirely because of logistics but more so the idea, just like you suggested, that I paid for this day and I want on on on. To hell with what was suggested or asked by the cruiseline. Well even if you have a few dozen parties per hour flipping the bird to the suggested times, it can become chaotic. I have seen it get ugly with the port employees. So something had to be done. Nobody cared about bombarding port employees, so I don't see why Carnival should care about when you can check out and what time your drive gets you to the port, or your irresponsible multi-party family randomly picking various times then posting the outrage that you can't board together (as in the OPs case). There are a number of ways people can ensure being at the front of the check-in line, but boarding which is what everyone is really wanting to do first, remains a separate process.

When you're asked and don't comply, next you will be told and forced to comply. Simple as that.

    Amen....very well said.

  13. Yes, some people win, but what is not being said is that likely the gamblers are paying more for their cruise in the long run than the rest of us.

Not when for example I paid $240 plus, $100 obc for an L-shaped balcony room June 2015 on a 7 day on Freedom and lost all of $140 and had over 11k points bounce back offer a free steakhose dinner bottle of wine, champagne on drinks card. I always check what the price of my room would have been without the casino offer for that one it would have been $2500. By tje way that's the most I have lost on any of my 6 casino offer cruises.

  14. Wow that's quite a bit, for my budget at least. Although, does that mean putting a new $400 dollars on the card each day (I assume that means the $400 from the day before was lost)? Or could I put $400 on the first day, cash out (say I cash out even or make a little money), then put that same $400 on it the next day, would that work?

I don't know if I'm making sense but basically if I were to only spend $400 and not actually lose the money but break even and cash it out and start over with it each day?

No that doesn't work. It is,based on how much you play not how much money you put in. So if you put the same money in that you cash out without playing you will not get more points.

  15. Free or $20, the real question is why are you looking to eat a cockroach from the ocean?

If you were standing next a dumpster filled to the brim and a 2' long cockroach or spider or scorpion climbed out, would your first thoughts be "I'm so GOING TO EAT it"?

Lobsters/crabs/shrimp are the bugs of the ocean and they're bottom dwellers. Their world is rife with the excrement of all the life of the ocean + any waste our species wantonly discards/pumps into the ocean.

Be and ware. We are what we eat.

Jeez. ...really???? You're a comedian, right? Bahahaha. You don't eat shellfish, fine but to liken them to roaches is ignorant.
