  1. I'm from New,York City and went to boarding school in Massachusetts and college in Connecticut, so I know Maine lobsters very well and they are delicious. In fact now that I live in Texas I get it next day aired to me. However that isn't an option on a cruise. While the rock lobsters offered are not the best they are tasty and $20 isn't much money.

  2. It is the Steakhouse selections in Main dining room. I have seen this option for over 2 years even on ships without a steakhose. Yes,there is no longer lobster served on cruuses 5 days or less during elegant night. This started October 2015. As for steak, there is the flat iron offered at no charge every night in mdr.

  3. I booked a cruise with ES for October, a week later received a casino offer for $75pp plus $100 obc. Called and it was honored as well as upgraded my cabin. Even booked another one at the same casino rate. Don't expect there to be a cheaper price...lol.

  4. I would definitely take the upsell. Deck 6 is right above promenade where all the night activities are located . Too many chances for noise. 6416 seems to be above a bar. Admittedly I prefer being on Lido or above. There are less rooms so lessens the chance of noisy neighbors.

  5. I went on the,Freedom June 27th - July 4th. I had a great time, so much so I am going again October 29th. I had an L-shaped balcony room on deck 7 it was awesome although I didn't spend much time on my balcony. The new menus in the MDR are a vast improvement over the old ones. I am originally from New York City and live in Houston. Grew up with fine dining and am a foodie. I find that most people who complain about the menu are Olive Garden for a special occasion people. They compare it to Golden Corral. ..well I have not eaten there nor would I. They want huge portions drenched in a cheese sauce. As far as table cloths well most of the better restaurants don't have them....big whoop. The Steakhouse is fabulous and well worth the $35 pp. The meal would be upwards of $150 pp on land.

Was everything wonderful? No. But I had a great time. Some people go in looking for problems and things to complain about. It makes them happy. They're easy to spot and easy to avoid. ...lol.

Enjoy the Freedom, it's a great ship.

  6. I have cruised Carnival since 2004 about to take my 13th cruise with them in October. I am a gold and have purchased fttf since it became available. I have done 4, 5 and 7 day cruises with fttf. All in Galveston. My experience I always arrive at port by 10:30 breeze through the not long lines. I immediately go to my room and drop off my carry on because I paid for it ( now for why I am commenting ) if you do not board after1:30 and you go to your cabin, you are in essence stealing. Why do I say this? You didn't pay for that service, you're not platinum or diamond so you haven't earned it. It gets a little tiresome to hear people say " well I checked and the room steward didn't say anything so I just dropped off my bags" Really? A person who depends on your tips and good reviews is going to tell you how much of a selfish weenie you're being? RANT OVER

Now to answer your question. Yes it is worth it to me to get on and go to my cabin to get my luggage before muster. To skip the line at tender ports and to have a shorter line at guest service. Heck is worth 50 bucks even on a 4 day trip to Cozumel.

  7. This is not so. I have cruised 4 times this year with both the Cheers program and the drinks on us card. While not every day there have been days I had more than 15 drinks served. While you are gambling any drinks ordered are put on the drinks on us card, if you have it. They are separate accounts, and treated as such. If people were told otherwise perhaps they were inebriated and acting up.

  8. I am preparing to go on the Freedom October 29th for a 4 day cruise. I was on it for a 7 day cruise June 27th -July 4th. Reading your review now it seems like we were on 2 different ships. There was plenty of trivia, and karaoke throughout the day on my cruise but we had a different cruise director never gave much thought to a cruise director making a difference but maybe. The Habana bar had a salsa group preforming. There was even steel drums on lido. There was a magician. Food in mdr was terrific. Yes the promenade by the casino was smoky but that's to be expected with it being one of 2 inside places where smoking is allowed. The comedians were hilarious. As far as shows in the main theater didn't see any but am planning on at least 1 this cruise. As far as other guest, I cruised solo and met some great people all over the ship. Hope your next cruise is a better experience.

  9. Going on the Freedom tomorrow. ..super excited. Have been on Triumph 4 times and loved it. Never on Magic haven't really wanted to. Chose Freedom instead of Magic because of fish and chips, guy's burgers and blue iguana. Also loved Conquest when it was in Galveston.

  10. Hello. I am going on 7day a cruise on Saturday. I have purchased Cheers on my last 3 cruises and also have received the drinks card at the casino on the 2nd day. I recall reading that they were changing the 15 drink a rule...so that the free drinks were added to the total.

Has anyone had experience with this recently ( my last cruise was March 28 to April 2 and the drinks were counted separately ).

    Thanks.
