Of your eating with kids ask for the half price kids menu to be charged half for the kids. Not really a policy change.

Look at ncl's reported outbreaks on the cdc vessel sanitation website... Very low i believe.

Sorry to hijack - but if the UBP includes soda, and we have two adults one child in the room, both adults purchase the UBP - do we have to buy the soda package for DD?
yes.everyone in the cabin has to have a package.

you can also pre-pay by phoning up NCL in any country.

Ah, my bad. Yeah, we had the minibar items removed, that way I call it a fridge. Sorrrrry.. :D

What is the wine dispenser?

its on the new ships - i think in the buffet? You can dispense tasters, small or large glasses to my knowledge. I guess it uses keycard to charge your account.

Have booked 1 week ago.
Booked through Zeetours cruises for the first time, would normally do my own research (7th cruise since started in 2010 :)) Flight is with Klm delta.
Arkefly had some options, for One way tickets if you are somewhat flexible in days...
And... It is nearly always worth it to book both cruise fare and airline ticket trough an US website, let the USD-EURO conversion earn you some vacation money, maybe you get some OBC and nice bottles of wine from a US travel agent, can't hurt to ask :)

Those were potato pancakes? At least on the Getaway, I thought they were hash browns. They looked more like a mini version of McDonald's hash browns to me than what I traditionally think of as a potato pancake.
I concur with the Escargot in Le Bistro. Fantastic.
The waffles are amazing. Buttery and crispy.
I also really liked the Hawaiian burger in the buffet for lunch. Ate one every day.
There are hash browns and potato pancakes - at least there is/was on EPIC.

I love the EPIC- off on my 3rd cruise on her in a few weeks. I found poolside busy on a normal 7 day cruise, but heavenly quiet on a repositioning. Otherwise, to say how big she is I never felt crowded in the public areas. I love all the nooks and crannies on EPIC - lots to explore!! Go and enjoy yourself and form your own opinion.

Where are the pretzel buns?
Yum! On the buffet!! :)

Darn - I thought I beat the system. We have two cabins and were only going to get the UBP for the DH. I don't drink enough to make it anywhere near being worthwhile.
Our reservations are not linked in any way.....even when I call NCL, to add something to the reservation, they don't even know I have 2 cabins. I keep begging them to link them and they won't/cant
If the two cabins are on separate reservations, I would imagine you only pay for the people on the one reservation.

While the tax amount where you live might be the same, I have to disagree. The added gratuity of 15% is well known here and when any tax is charged, it is not usually 15% (10% in Spain, I think 6% in Florida, etc).
For me the most likely reason is that since the issue rose NCL has instructed the crew onboard to charge the packages to passenger's onboard account only later, after the ship has sailed, so the purchase will not be subject to sales tax - of course this does not apply to intra-EU cruises from Spain.
very true, although some people are still reporting 15% plus sales tax from port. Safe way prepay with gratuity or wait till out of port.

We will be on the Getaway in October and I am also interested in the facts about the UBP. On Carival and RCCL the package is offered on day 1 and 2. You purchase in port on day 1 and you are charged for 7 days of the program + tax. Purchase on day 2 and you are charged for only 6 days and no tax. No drinks are taken off from the first days purchases. This is where bringing on your own wine at embarkation is helpful. This only makes sense and I hope NCL works it out this way. We have purchased it and passed on it on other cruises. Not sure we will buy it this next time but there is a possibility.
ncl charges for the whole cruise regardless. Tax is dependent on when the receipt is put through your account. Prepay is the way to definitely avoid tax. Some people report if brought on day 2 some drinks are taken off.

There's quite a lot included that I would drink, so it works for me. Its something you need to look at yourself and work out for your own drinking habits.

Just turn up at the pier on time! :)
Nothing you need to know, you will meet lots of people, and have a wicked time! xxx

I love the studios - the design makes them not feel as small, and although the window is there, I feel it makes the room bigger somehow.. however, I only ever sleep and wash in my room, and was more in the lounge, and public areas people watching.. I never spend much time in my room on a cruise!!

I usually do the cruiseline package. one-way to/from UK cost upto 3 times as much as return. Airlines frown upon you booking returns and not using the return leg.

He's gone. :(
His website shows a number of gigs throughout the summer, destroying my hope that he'd be back in time for the June 29th cruise.
I noticed on his website he wanted to get back on the road... :(

Is it? I heard from a shipyard master that Miami is much more costly than Ft. Lauderdale for the cruise ships.
Miami is amazing for travellers coming from outside the USA though - much cheaper flights and more direct. NCL seems to have a lot of international travellers.

I've heard JC is going to be cruise director on EPIC at the end of April.

i go with the best deal at the time - my last 3 cruises have been direct with NCL, with only 1 with a TA. But in the UK, the TA and direct with NCL offer the same, very limited OBC anyway.

if its like the pizza in the buffet on EPIC - I loved it!! Would go up to the buffet late at night, and by the end of the cruise, the chef was really friendly and made me a special request pizza... yum yum!

Hi
I read about this, so I gave it a try. We sailed on The Gem March 8-17, and just returned yesterday. I booked La Cucina a couple of weeks in advance, for my husband and I the first night. When we arrived in our 2 family staterooms, there was a bottle of wine in each room, along with plates of fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate with a note, "A Gift for You". So there you go! It worked :) Thanks for spreading the news.
Clay Girl
The wine and strawberries is a free latitudes gift isn't it? The wine is given at the restaurant not in the room.

Beverage Package Question

All drinks are charged to your account then removed on the last night. I had gone to guest services on the last day asked for a printout to check with none of the UBP drinks included and all the drinks were taken off. Maybe it was a fluke, or maybe they knew this bartender upgraded without permission!
I definitely didn't tip this bartender, as I had pointed at the promo info about the cosmo made with voli when ordering to get the $7.50 one.
So total surprise...
Also some bartenders mark your receipt UBP, but even if they don't those drinks are removed. I'm sure there must be an easier way for NCL to manage the package than to charge our accounts, it gets confusing to see what are drinks and what are actual other charges, as they all mingle with each other.
