  1. Have the love bug swarms started yet in the Port Canaveral area? We are driving down on Saturday and cruising on Sunday.

Also is there a car wash/gas station with car wash near the Marriott Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral?

    Thanks

Well I know about a couple of hundred won't be there for their bodies were all over the backyard where I got rid of them... Nope haven't run into any serious issues yet - as for a car wash, there is one about 2 to 3 blocks South of the RI called Octopus Car Wash and they are great...Now if you want all the cleaning to be done by someone else, that would be on HWY 520 about 500 yards west of the Dinosaur Store. Norm goes to Octopus all the time and swears on them.

    Just a thought

  2. Country Inn and Suites. I highly recommend this hotel. It is clean, comfortable, reasonably priced and the staff is super helpful. There are several good restaurants within walking distance for dinner and the hotel includes a continental breakfast which was pretty good. Had more than just your bagels and fruit.

I have stayed at Hampton Inns before and they are pretty comparable. Which ever hotel you go with, have a GREAT cruise!

The GM now at CI&S is Sean Esposito and he has given me permission to post his email address for anyone that has any questions that he can help answer. I had the pleasure to meet Sean and what a super nice person and very accommadating with his guest.

    His email is sean.esposito@countryinns.com

    ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Thank you Lisa, yes that would be great.

Ms. Nelson, will the taxi rate "pay what you want" take you to the cruise port? I didn't know if it's just within Cocoa Beach area or does it extend to Port Canaveral.

Yep they will take you to the port also with the same "pay what you want" - folks are really enjoying that option and being very fair

  5. Hi,

Just clearing up some last minute details we will be in PC on the 2nd, just wanting to know if there is a liquor store within walking distance of the Comfort Inn @Cocoa Beach.

    THANKS:)

    HEY THERE GIRLFRIEND,

So ya coming back huh? Hope we will finally have a chance to meet up - anyhow if you are looking for anything other than beer and wine, ABC is NOT within walking distances, but you can call Cocoa Beach Taxi that offers "pay what you want" and they will take you anywhere you want - ABC is maybe about one and a half miles North and South of CI.

You can speak to Mike/Tom who once was a member of CC and he is up on everything.

He works at the front desk of CI.

If you just want beer and wine, there is a Winn Dixie right across from where you are staying.

    ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving and may it be a very blessed one

  6. Hi. Will be cruising on the FOS in March - our return flight out of Orlando is not until 2:45 - is renting a car and going to the Kennedy Space Center for the morning doable? How far is it from the port to the Space center and then to the Orlando airport? Any other suggestions for the time would be appreciated - not looking forward to sitting at an airport for 5 hours.

    Thanks.

    Vicky

    Hello Vicky,

From the port to KSC is about 20 miles Northeast from the port - you can get a map from whatever hotel you are staying at before your cruise and they will map it out for you - from KSC, you can head West and it will take you right to the airport which is less than an hour away - if you will click just above my name, you can find a lot of information that will help you

    Good luck

  7. Has anyone stayed at the Country Inn and Suites lately and taken the shuttle to the port?

The past 2 times my family has stayed at a hotel and relied on the hotel shuttle for a trip to the port, we've taken a cab after waiting in a crowded, crazy lobby for an hour. I have a room at the Country Inn pre-cruise in December and am worried that the same thing is going to happen. I'd rather just park at the off site parking place if this is the case.

So, what is your experience with the shuttle to the port? When did you get your shuttle time--when you checked in? Could you sign up for a shuttle before you arrived? Was the lobby a crazy mess on Saturday morning?

    Thanks for the input!

Some of the things that is nice to know is the Cocoa Beach Taxi has a "pay what you want"

and they will take you anywhere anytime - or you can click just above my name and you can get a lot of information - Radisson is now offering $5.99 for cruise parking and I am sure everyone has brought their charges down.

Many choices - good luck and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!

  8. We stay at the Radisson each time we've been to port canaveral and the shuttle is nice but very crowded everyone uses it. This time we did coco beach taxi(they have vans for larger groups) they were there right on time and it's pay what you want I gave the guy ten bucks and he seem very pleased with it. Just a suggestion:)

    Tom

    Hey Tom,

I love the way CB Taxi is doing their fares and for most part, just about everyone is paying a fair price and even throwing in a tip - looks like it is working for them and their customers so it is a win/win situation

Hope all is well up your way and we hope to see you back someday

    Blessings always

  9. Has anyone used the shuttle service at the radisson in Cape Canaveral. They say they will pick up 4 people at Orlando Iternational airport and bring them to their hotel for $70.

Look here is Joe P's email address and he is the GM at the Radisson - he will answer any questions, any concern or any issues with you - he is a great person - love and respect him very deeply - you can tell him I gave you his email address - he has no problem with it.

    jpanackia@radissonport.com

  10. Shirley just wanted to thank you for all the help we got our yuengling at RacTrac and coco beach taxi was the best used three times always got there fast and very friendly drivers will be keeping there business card:)

I am so glad to hear Tommy that everything turned out good - It is always good to have a heads up when coming into a strange town and yep CB taxi is really doing a great job - don't know if I mentioned it or not, but they disconnected their meters so noone knows what the cost would have been to travel to different places and the best part, most of the passengers have been fair in what they pay.

Take care aand come on back for we leave the lights on at night for everyone coming here

    ;D

  11. Shirley

Thanks for the great recommendation on Siam Orchid. All six of us enjoyed our meals. Off to sleep in a now moving bed for the last time for a week...thought tomorrow would never come:D

Have a wonderful time to you and the family - I love the Sun's decoration on her - the sun brings out the good in us :D - have fun, stay safe and glad you enjoyed the Siam Orchid - Norm and I were at Roberto's eating our second favorite food :D

    ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Shirley

Wanted to let you know that the GM at Country Inn and Suites listed on your info post is no longer there.

I emailed him today after FINALLY getting priceline to free up a couple of rooms (only saved about $10/room over our rate at Comfort Inn and Suites but our traveling companions prefer interior hallways). Since you had one email addy and their website had another, I emailed them both requesting a king room if available. Didn't hear from either of them but did almost immediately get an email back from Sean Esposito. He said he started as GM FOUR days ago! He did say he had been there for two years though.

Anyway, thanks again for all your help!

Hello Clay - I have not had a chance to update the information on the post for about a year now but somewhere in here, I had posted the new manager's name and in fact stopped by to meet him - I am so deeply sorry that you had the issues you had - if you have another issue, just do a quick post and I will help - I am assuming that they have changed the GM again so i will stop by and meet the new GM ok?

  13. It most certainly does! I had visions of arriving on Friday at 9pm to find out our hotel was boarded up. Thanks again for all you do. If you are out and about on Friday night, stop by Siam Orchid and I will buy you a drink or dessert!

I LOVE LOVE SIAM ORCHID - tell Art you are a friend of Shirley and Norm -Norm and I may just meet you there but if we don't make it, ask them to give you a treat of the crab salad that is awesome ok?

    ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Shirley

Are you aware of any other hotels (Comfort Suites?) that sustained damage?

Hello Clay - I went riding around after the storm and didn't see any serious damage in fact most of all the hotels were packed full - a lot of fallen trees, electrical wire etc but know that the Doubletree is thisclose to the ocean and the waves were about 20 ft high or so and I do know that the water was extremely high so I can see where they got damaged - i do know there were a lot of baby turtles being rescued in that area so nope that is the only hotel that I am aware of including Comfort Suites Inn. They are too far from the ocean.

    Hope this helps

  15. Not sure if I asked this before if I have sorry:o but we are staying at the Radisson near the port and want to get a 6 pack of beer and a bottle of champagne for the cruise(were on disney) is there a place to get it within walking distance?

    Thank you

RacTrac is right next door to the Radisson or you can contact Jose or Steve at cocoa Beach taxi that offer "pay what you want" - http://www.cocoabeachtaxi.com where they explain even further - nice deal OR you can go to search and take our local bus - you can do a search and find that info also or click just above my name and it will give you a great deal of information

    good luck and enjoy!!!!!!!!!

  16. Got an e-mail from the Doubletree late Saturday night that due to damage from wind and rain they would be closed for about a month, and since we are scheduled to be there in 3 weeks, we will need to stay some place else. They did offer to relocate us at the same rate at the Hilton, but in reading reviews on TripAdvisor I think we have decided to stay at the Courtyard Marriott. Do you have any information about this hotel or the area in which is it located? Thanks.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a note to Stefanie who will assure you with again any questions. The courtyard is very nice surround with numberous huge trees.

    Nice place.

    here is Stefanie's email address

    stefanie.mattia@courtyardcb.com

  17. Anytime you have any questions, want assurance about their service, you can write George at info@parkcruise.com

Now you will receive an automatic letter back, but George does read your letters and he will answer also mention and its MOST IMPORTANT that you got their information off this board for that will really get their attention -

Anyhow yes their area is very secure and safe - checked it out and found it safe

Now you also have a few other places that are also offering park n cruise and those places are at the Radisson which you can write Joe the GM with any questions, concerns etc and he is very good about getting back answers to emails - his email address is jpanackia@radissonport.com

Another place is Beachline also in Cape Canaveral - I don't remember their information at this moment but I am sure if you will do a search, you will find it where I have posted it before - they have park n cruise right to the west on Center Street and they too offer shuttle to the port.

ENJOY which ever you decide to go with

  18. Thank you for the information. One comment though - you said that the Doubletree is now the International Palms Resort. The Doubletree is located at 2080 N. Atlantic Avenue and the International Palms is at 1300 North Atlantic Avenue. Maybe I misunderstood your comment.

Hello Andy - I really believe I had to be visiting another planet when I confused International which once was the Holiday Inn to the Doubletree - OK my feet are back on ground and thanks so much for helping me get back to the earth planet :D - the small mall in front of the Doubletree does have a nice Italian restaurant and Sonny's BBQ - tried both and they are ok - after the horrific weather we had this past weekend, hundreds and hundreds of sea turtles hatched and were seen behind Doubletree - what could be rescued were which is so amazing - the ocean is breathtaking from the DT - thanks again for everything

  19. I will be staying at the Doubletree for 3 nights prior to our cruise in a few weeks. I have arranged for Beachline Transportation for our transportation needs before and after the cruise. The hotel recommended them.

Is the Doubletree walking distance to any restaurants (besides the one across the street in the Plaza?) How far is the Pier from the hotel? I know there is a shuttle that goes from the hotel to the Pier, but I have received conflicting information on how late it runs. I thought it was 9 pm, but someone at the hotel told me it was 11:45 pm.

We were thinking of going to the Merritt Sq Mall one evening. Is there public transportation from the hotel area, or would we need to take a taxi?

    Thanks for any information.

    Hello Andy

Look Cocoa Beach Taxi has been offering "Pay what you want" - they travel from the port, hotels etc to anywhere you want to go including Merritt Island - Now Doubletree is no longer for it is known as International Palms - to go to the pier, it about 2 or so miles from the hotel - as for the local transportation here is their site - good luck and enjoy also you can click right above my name and it will give you a great deal more of information.

I have a rate of $99.00 per night.(We have 7 rooms). Was told earlier that all we have to pay is $45.00 for parking...Well, I called to confirm all my numbers and the guy said that if we did not have the stay and cruise package that the parking is $150.00...are you kidding..or we can stay the last night for$179.00 that includes the parking.Well I really do not care to stay at Holiday Inn now..( we are a Proity member) SOOOOOO,,,now where is a good hotel? How is Ron Jon?...we will park our cars at park-no-go if we need to...Any ideas? thanks..

Look drop Leslie Jordan a note with what you experienced and I am sure that she will do her best to help you - make sure you tell her that I gave you her email address and I am also going to drop her a note with your above note.

PS the Holiday Inn has been changed to International Palms

  21. Shirley

Forgive me for asking a question that I know has already been answered somewhere in these many pages, but I know there was one Thai restaurant that you recommended highly - is that Siam Orchid?

Thanks again for all your efforts on helping us have a great time in your town.

Hello Clay - yep it is Siam Orchid - I have tried both Thai Thai and I found Siam Orchid less expensive, more charming and the servers are more attentive - ask for Tom and he will make sure you get a treat for mentioning this board -

    here is their info

    1275 N Atlantic Ave

    Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

    (321) 783-4545

  22. Saw on the news tonight Brevard county got 8+ inches of rain today! Are the animals pairing up yet? :D

Thanks for the info on off site parking, I will be checking that out. It's a bit strange to be checking out info for Port Canaveral, it's less than an hour from home, and I thought I knew everything!

There was a lot of water damages in low lying areas - I expected to see Noah's ark row up, pulled up, land if it could be found :D at any minute - the news said that this part of Florida has not had that type of weather in close to 100 years (don't know cause I wasn't around:) but I would believe it. Nanci, you always learn something new about any place including your own town so its good to ask and vertify as much as possible. Anyhow have a great time and thanks for sharing
