1. Just found you guys!!!!!

Question: We will be cruising on the Dream in December. As of now I have a reservation at the Comfort Inn and Suites......free parking, free shuttle, cont breakfast....$99.00. To me this sounds like a super deal.....my only concern is the property. Although the reviews are very good this deal sounds too good to be true.......any thoughts on this place????

My granddaughter and her family stayed here a couple of years ago and they really had no complaints - Michael who is at the reservations desk is a super duper guy to work with - you are close to everything such as shopping, ron Jon's, C.B. Surf shop, dinosaur shop, grocery stores, IHOP, restaurants, drugstores and most important the beach - you will be just fine.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Hello - wanted to share something that I feel you may find interesting and helpful

Cocoa Beach Taxi has an offer that is exceptionally great for you "PAY WHAT YOU WANT EVERYDAY" - every day the customer decides the fare anywhere between Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral and Merritt Island - they have a maximum of 2 stops only.

Being that Norm and I paid close to $20.00 from the port to home (less than 3 miles) this is a great option - keep the fare reasonable, but the choice is yours

Cocoa Beach Taxi can be reached at 321-783-1299 and just tell them I told on them ok?

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. OK THIS IS SOMETHING I FEEL THE FAMILY WOULD ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!

Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show which will be held for 2 days starting November 5th. The family will have the ability to dine with astronauts, space auctions and much more.

You can go to http://www.astronautscholarship.org for more information on the astronaut show link at the top of the columns

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. I just arrived at my hotel. I rented a car at the Orlando airport.

The agent attempted to sell the toll pass. But thanks to this thread,I declined.

The toll fee was $1.50 and the car rental wanted $12.00.

If you are coming right from the hotel from the airport, just have the change.

I really love it when folks take the time to share with everyone their expertise advise to help others in making decisions - thanks so much airlink for sharing:) for it folks as yourself (and many others) that helps us be caring humans beings that care enough to help our fellowmen -

5. HI Guys! Just made a one way reservation with Thrifty from MCO to Cape Canaveral (6799 N Atlantic Avenue) for 10/1/11. We are leaving on the Freedom on 10/2.

I am just confirming with the experts here that Thrify still runs the free shuttle from the Rental Location to the Port (with times that the shuttle is running)

Also, does anyone know what the earliest time for Pickup from the Port to the same rental location is on Sundays? Even with the one way drop fee that Thrifty has from Cape Canaveral to MCO, it still seems better then a car service....if the shuttle pickup time is early enough.

Thanks

Trom

Hello Trom,

Yes all the rental cars places here run the free shuttle but I do not know the earliest time for pickup

You can try to drop a note to Jesus from Thrifty and ask the questions you need answered

Good luck

6. Does anyone know the answer to my questions. (I also wanted to bump this valuable thread back to the first page.)

Hello Peg - want to apologize for not getting back to you sooner, but had a death in the family and between the loss and work, I have been so distracted - anyhow let me check on what you asked and I will get back to you ok?

Thanks for understanding:)

7. Just got off the Carnival Dream. Within 5 minutes of getting my luggage I was being wisked away in a limo by Executive VIP. First time using them. Won't be the last

I really have a deep respect for Michael and Maureen - love their interacting with customers but I also have to add that spaceport also is pretty neat - thanks for sharing

8.
I have kind of a silly question for the Port Canaveral experts out there! We will be getting off the Freedom on Sunday, September 11th. Our flight isn't until 7pm, so we have quite a bit of time. We were wondering if there are any bars/restaurants in the area that might be able to show the Bears/Falcons game. It's the first game of the season and it would be a great way to wind down from our fun filled vacation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
Hello KG - there are several - the most favorite of the locals are as follows:

Jonathan's Pub - 140 North Brevard Avenue - cocoa beach 321-783-9368
Beef O'Brady ------located in the same plaza as Publix in Cocoa Beach
Pig & Whistle -------Cocoa Beach

All 3 are great
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9.
Shirley,

Hope you and your family are all safe down there with Irene coming up the coast!!
Hey there Cheryl,
We did just great - my heart, thoughts and prayers are with all of those on the east coast that are facing quite a challenge - It was so kind of you to think about us.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))
10.
We are trying to decide between these two as we have some Marriott points. Are they close to one another? It looks like we can walk to Ron Jons from Courtyard....true for Residence also?

Thanks so much!
Good morning Racefan9
If you stay at the Marriott Courtyard, you are close to Ron Jon, CB Surf Shop, shopping, Dinosaur Shop, restaurants etc - everything is just about walking distance without no problem

Residence Inn, unless you are a long distance walker, you will need a ride which can be the local bus - if you check just above my name below, you will a lot of answers
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
11.
Any new parking places?
OK another opened up last week and it is by Beach Line Shuttle - this one is located less than 2 miles from the port - you also can do a search and find more - Radisson has the parking as well as Park and Cruise.
Good luck with ever you decide on:)

12.
I am looking at booking La Quinta Inn, in Cocoa Beach, and leaving our vehicle there for the week, is this a safe place to leave it while on the cruise? Thanks!
Without one doubt - they are very conscience about their guest welfare, safety and enjoyment
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13.
We’ve had so many good restaurant recommendations - THANKS TO THESE BOARDS, and have enjoyed lots of good meals from seafood to Cuban fare.

This time, for our upcoming Monarch sailing (this week:)) , we think we’d like some local Italian – you know - a small place with some good pasta or even pizza. (Alcohol sales are also a must). No chains please

What do you recommend?
Thanks
Marci
You got to try Brando's in Cocoa Beach - the food is outstanding and so is the atmosphere. Here is the information

BRANO'S ITALIAN GRILL
Excellent Italian food.
The owner Brano Kunik is also the chef.
They are located at 3680 North Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach
Phone number is 321-783-6031 –
and yes they have a full liquor license and nope they are not a chain.

The GM is Erin and she is a great young lady that will answer any questions etc for you also If you mention this board, she will make sure you will get a nice treat at no charge.
14. Michael and Executive vip limo are very good and have vehicles

waiting by the ships. You can call them once you clear customs

or once you get off of the ship. Your vehicle will be there in

5 minutes.

Michael just got one of the the prettiest black limo stocked to the top with goodies and he is just one super young man - I guess my deepest respect is that he takes such good care of his mom and mom in law and to top it all - a true local that knows the area as well as he does

15. this is new information that you may find helpful

enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Cocoa Beach Taxi

Hi Shirley, I wanted to let you know that everyday here at Cocoa Beach Taxi we are letting the customer decide the fare between Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral & Merritt Island. We did it one day and had a good response so it will be everyday all day.

3 hours

16. Yes, Sarah is fantastic and very responsive although I'm a bit confused more than I was before. I have booked the cruise package. Although I see that it says on their website that parking onsite is complimentary and that a cruise shuttle is offered for $6pp roundtrip. Ok - got that.

Here is where the dilemna lies. I emailed her verifying that my husband could qualify for the current military/government rate without being on orders. She said that that was fine. Well - that would drop our rate from $179 to $99 without the cruise package...Ok - that's significant enough for me to pay for the shuttle or cab. However - she said that we would have to pay $7 a day for parking. But - no where on their website does it say you have to pay for parking even for cruisers. It says - parking is complimentary and the shuttle is what I stated above.

So - I left it at the other higher rate but I'm thinking...this sucks. Anybody know the parking situation at this place?

I just dropped Sarah a quick note to see if she can explain it better and I will post what she writes back and just maybe that will help

Hugsssssssssssss

just me:)

17. I think I'm going to have an entire conversation with myself on this thread but the wheels in my head keep spinning. So - I had a thought.

I could take the $99 rate and then drive our car to the cruise and park for $4.99 a day with a reservation. This would be cheaper. What do you all think of this? Is it out of our way? Should we just stay with the cruise package at the Residence Inn? What do you all think?

Thanks for humoring me ;)

Right next door at the Radisson, they have the park and cruise for $6.99 and if I can correct, they will match P&C prices

you can drop Joe P the manager a note and maybe he can explain it more to you

jpanackia@radissonport.com

18. Hey you guys - I have a question. I have the Residence Inn reserved for a pre-cruise one night stay in November. I was reading that their shuttle doesn't start until 11:30am? Can anyone confirm this? I suppose DH and I can just take a reasonabley priced cab to the ship? I know, I know...11:30 is actually probably a fine time to leave the hotel but you know...we get excited. Also - how is their system back? I hope I made a good choice in hotels. We wanted to be as close to the pier as we could to come back, hop in the car and head back on the road to Virginia.

Look just drop Sarah, GM a quick note and she will be more than happy to help answer any questions - she is great about her emails

Sarah.OShea@marriott.com

19. Greetings Folks,

Recommendations for nicest hotel on the beach......with BALCONY! Haven't been thrilled with LaQuinta or Best Western in the past. Maybe Doubletree?? Have cruised out of PC several times in recent years.....but not often enough to remember. Thanks

Mike - the LaQuinta at the beach has really renovated their place - don't know when is the last time you were there - Doubletree is also a nice place - I am sure you will get a lot of responses to your question and if you have any concerns, just ask and we are here to help ya

20. We sail on the Dream(Carnival) on Dec. 3. I was trying to find a reasonable hotel for Dec. 2. Days Inn Cruiseport West has 50% good reviews and 50% bad, has anyone stayed here recently or anyone heard any reason my husband and I should cancel the reservation I made thru a park, stay, cruise site. Thanks for any advice.

Look whatever concerns you have, you are most welcomed to write Linda with DI, be completely honest with your concern and she in turn will be very upfront with you and she will make sure you feel comfortable with any questions or concerns you may have - just let her know I gave you her email address and it was ok to write her.

21. OK FINALLY I HAVE THE GAMBLING SHIP INFO

The Victory Casino Cruises will begin tomorrow - they are located at Pier 2 (180 Christopher Columbus Drive, Cape Canaveral, Fla 32920) which is right accross the street from Ron Jon Caribe Hotel - their website is http://www.victorycasinocruises.com/

I had to go to their main office and boy I was truely impressed - The Victory has so remodeled and looked great.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22. Sorry to bother with a quick question. Am I understanding a previous post correctly, about tolls on Rt. 528 from MCO to Cape Canaveral? I think it says that there is only one toll stop, and that we can use cash to pay for the toll at the toll booth. I'd rather not pay the rental car company a surcharge for using the Easy Pass if I don't have to, you know?

Thanks in advance - and I've gotten lots of great help from this thread!

Just one toll of $1.25 so do NOT get the Easy Pass - don't need it and yes you can use cash - they prefer it:)

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
