  1. So what happens if you have excursions that aren't through carnival? That you pay for, at least partially.

Most third party companies follow these changes and if you make the port will take care of you. If you don't make the port you usually will have to request a refund somehow. It is usually included in the paperwork.

  2. I watched her sail in from the pier in Galveston this morning, the tugs are more than capable. I would not hesitate to sail on her, even if the issue is not fixed since they have arranged tugs in Galveston and the other ports she sails to.

Liberty only does 4/5 day trips to Cozumel and Cozumel/Progreso.

  3. I've sailed on the Conquest twice and the spot that they were set up for the investigation based on pictures posted here and on twitter is one of my favorite places on the ship. It provides a really good view of the ocean, and I can understand why she wanted to go there. I can't understand what caused her to climb on the rail.

It looks to me like she was at the point where the lido deck widens slightly and so does deck 10 (on the left in this image of the old lido setup on the Conquest):

If that is the case then the image below shows that once over the initial slant of the metal then there's a possibility she could have hit the water without hitting anything else:

The whole thing is spooky, and I really feel for her family and friends who have to live without her now.

  4. everyone during the check in process must fill out a health form. so, if as some has suggested her that she had some type of mental health issue instead of a spur of the moment fight or being drunk, then she must have lied on her form by stating that she had no health problems. if she actually had depression issues or suicidal thoughts and had stated them on the form, she wouldn't have sailed and she would still be alive based on people's assumptions that she wasn't drunk but could have had mental problems.

That form is specific to ebola and doesn't refer to anything mental or otherwise health related. Just mentioning that form in regards to this suggests that the form isn't read in general.

I just read ours tonight because we sail this weekend!

  5. Interesting. I talked to several bartenders on the legend and elation and they all said the built in tip went to a common bucket, and anyone who served you got a split of that, but if you put an additional tip on the slip that bartender got the additional tip.

  6. Yeah, I don't think it will be an issue. I don't know where the smoking areas are on the Triumph, but folks seem to set up camp in those 24/7 during the cruises so I don't see why you'd be any different, albeit in a different area of the deck.

I haven't seen it done before, but that doesn't mean it's not possible/allowed. Go for it, if someone (in charge) thinks it is an issue they will let you know, and be ready to pack up if that's the case. If anyone else gives you any problems then: oh well, 4-5 day cruise!

  7. I do stress embarkation day. I do make myself calm down, but we almost missed a ship in New Orleans once because the Lake Ponchartrain causeway was closed while we were on it.

My wife dragged her feet, deciding to hang out with friends in Covington thinking "oh we've got plenty of time" and it turned out we didn't. We were not the last to board, but we could see the last to board.

I also discovered then that the folks who say "wait until the last minute because no lines" are crazy. The line was insane at the last minute!

I will stress on embarkation day up to the point where we check in, then it's vacation mode on!

  8. Our first cruise was during Hurricane Isaac. They closed the outer decks for part of the trip, and we had some impressive seas the first day. Many of the crew said it was the worst weather they had seen, and we were skirting around it.

None of the excursions got cancelled and we made all our ports, but they cancelled the shows on the ship the first formal night and we ate in a mostly empty dining room that night.

We had fun, we went down to deck 1 and ran from the front of the ship to the back down the hallway. Alternating between positive and negative G's while going down the hall was fun!
