Of the three docks in Cozumel, Langosta was our favorite!

Depending on the orientation of the wind to the ship/dock, I could see a 7 kt crosswind pinning a ship to a pier pretty easily. That is a LOT of surface area.

Is it feasible that the PBB was in motion prior to the actual strike?
For example:
Captain/Officer steering sees the PBB in one position and thinks "ok, it's retracted, we're clear". At the same time the person responsible for aligning the PBB for the port thinks "ok, the bow of the ship is clear, let's hurry this up so I can get a cup of coffee". Both are moving, thinking they are in the clear when one extends too far putting it in the path of the mooring deck door?
It is easy to have one absolute or another, but more often than not issues like this are because more than one person made a decision based on old information. (I don't work in maritime stuff, but I do work in IT and Telecom and root cause for outages is often the result of two parties doing work in the same area without knowing, causing an outage that isolates various systems)

Carnival has lined up tugs to assist docking maneuvers until they can get the thruster fixed. The sailing that left Saturday is the first one to leave after they discovered the issue, so they should be in a port today. I think you need to let the next couple of sailings happen before you decide to cancel.

Glimpse? Seems odd

I was in New Orleans when this happened staying at the Hilton riverfront. It was crazy.
Bright Field.
I was in the French Quarter at the 1850 house museum gift shop, and suddenly all the police around jackson square started running and sirens everywhere!
Never forget it. I stayed at the Hilton Riverside last November and the work they did to rebuild it is really good, can't even tell anything happened.,

It won't show up.
I called Carnival and Barclay, and was told that the OBC is not actually purchased until a couple of days ahead of your sailing in case you cancel the cruise. Once it is purchased they can't get the points or onboard credit back to you.
They wait until right before the sailing, and even then it will not show up in your documents. It will be in your account, it usually gets posted to your account the first full day onboard.
Be patient and trust that the thousands of times this has been done there have been few problems with it.

They've said they have lined up tugs to assist the next sailings to Cozumel and they can work on most of the thruster components while docked.
If it failed prior to Progreso then they may have had a tug available in Progreso to assist, I think I saw one there when I was there in November.

The Havana cabins are selling with higher demand than any category Carnival has sold before. They are sold out pretty much solid through the end of 2017.
If you want a Havana cabin, get in touch with Carnival or a Travel Agent to get it booked ASAP.

Hello All!!
Any info on "Roddy" would be much appreciated!!
Thanks!
We've sailed with Roddy twice. He's not as energetic as some of the younger PBE's but he's got a pretty good selection of music.
I would put him in the same category as Larry who was on the Conquest in 2012-2013.

What date are you looking at?

If you have no food allergies or other reasons for avoiding any food items, it is a "trust the chef" thing. We've done it twice and will do it again, it is a fantastic experience.
The entire menu is served to you, the portions are small so you don't think you will be full but they do add up in a hurry. The first time we did it we did not eat again until the following night at dinner.

If you get a chance, drive down highway 23 to at least Fort Jackson. That's a great place to watch the river go by. It's a couple hours down the road, so don't do it the morning of the cruise :)

I was thinking it would be panorama, but anymore I think Horizon or Reflection.

Yeah, bring one with you and tell your waiter to have the bar waiter come see you. Tip well and tell them what you want.

If you want a special request, like dining with just your family, you need to make that request. They can't read minds.
How was the rest of your trip?

The port of New Orleans is in the process of revamping the Poland Avenue Wharf and will start building a cruise terminal there starting in October of this year.
They have been working on access issues for a year or so now, and they've already demolished a portion of the old warehouse.

Carnival liberty, or Liberty of the Seas?
Your countdown says Liberty of the Seas, but you are on the Carnival board.
-
They will sell an initial batch, then as they get closer they will release a few more. Our sailing in 20 days had an initial batch, then about 2 months out they opened up 15 more and that's all we've seen.

For eg.: Allegiant Air flies from Tulsa to NO for $33 on Sunday, May 29. You do have to pay for baggage but it could still save you a lot of money.
You just changed my mind about a trip we're taking in a month and a half!
We do drive to new orleans, but this makes this particular trip much easier!

Are the ammeter displays typically in the engine control room, or in some other electrical distribution room? I have done the Behind the Fun tour before and I am planning to do it again on the Breeze in just over 3 weeks. It would be neat to spot that kind of thing. I know most people who do that tour are not as interested in the actual systems as I am, so I don't think I would ask really specific questions.

I would weigh it out, you can get a really nice hotel near the port for competitive prices. There will be a taxi from the airport to the hotel, but on the morning of the cruise the taxi fare from a hotel in the Quarter, CBD or Garden District is $7pp. The port is essentially in the CBD. Then if you do get in at a decent time you could go check out some things like the Riverwalk mall, the really nice Riverfront park, or take a ride on the Natchez.

How big is that resistor? I could imagine that current could be pretty significant.
Chengkp75, thanks for the insight, I have a pretty good understanding of normal land-based power distribution (even as an amateur), but ships are a whole other beast.

Not currently.
I can imagine they hope to do it some day, but not sure they are working on it currently.
