Just booked Celebrity Air economy on Virgin Atlantic from Orlando to London for the fall Silhouette TA.

$298 per person (like $100 airfare and $198 taxes).

Several other airlines at the same price.

Virgin website wants $1500 per person for the same thing.

    I find that VERY reasonable.

TA tried booking for us by calling and Celebrity Air wanted ~$1000 per person for the same thing.

    DON'T CALL - Use the Internet !!!

That’s great that you found a low fare.  There are currently no low price fares(business or economy)  from 3 south Florida airports into Barcelona within 5 days of November 5th.

I’ve always booked online, never called. The prices I’m seeing online are very close to booking directly with the airlines.  I’ll continue to check the Choice Air website, if there’s no change I’ll call.  It doesn’t seem to be the same situation for everyone.  From the responses to this thread it seems that I’m not the only one searching for low cost air deals.

Just a reminder, CALL Choice Air and ask about non refundable fares, the ones you pay for on-the-spot like they used to quote.  If you've bought or are going to buy trip insurance, doesn't make much difference if it's refundable or non refundable.  BTW, the Choice Air website default is refundable = higher fares.  They make more revenue on them.  Up to you to ask for non refundable.

Thank you, asked for a non refundable fare is a good tip that I didn’t think of.

Dont forget to factor in the high taxes and fees on British Airways.

I know this particular response wasn’t directed at me. I’m definitely not going thru the UK.  I can get a AA/BA award ticket for 65K miles but the taxes are over $550.

I looked at a round trip Choice Air, this morning business was over $7000.  I will call and see if there are some hidden fares.  Looking like I will have to part with a lot more miles than usual to get to Europe this Fall.

  4. I've been looking at the Choice Air prices Miami to Barcelona business class American Airlines early November.  The prices that are currently showing are higher than I've ever seen on Choice Air.  I can usually purchase a business seat one way for around $1000, I don't even see economy for that price.  In January I used Choice Air to Rio for $1100 and Lisbon to Miami for $850(both business on American)

There was a thread on the boards about this a while ago but looking for more recent experiences.

I was wondering if anyone had recently found a good deal or if Choice Air deals are over.

I can use miles, but the reward availability under 130K(one way business) are also nonexistent at the moment.

That sounds expensive.   Thanks for the idea though.

It would be super expensive.  Reading that you will be in Amsterdam, you can go into any drugstore(I did the same thing before a cruise a few years ago) and pick up shampoo there.  I can't promise they have Suave but they did have many brands that I was familiar with.  I am also now afraid to use the on board shampoo, which I have often done.  Someone posted that the shampoo was the same as body wash...Nope.  I don't like the big bottles that are now on board.  I'm not sure if the refillable bottles are only on the ships that have gone thru return or all of them.

  6. You should be fine, the unrest that’s currently in San Juan shouldn’t be an issue by the time you sail in November.  I would grab a taxi, I don’t believe Uber is available there. I’ve always felt safe in SJ, many cruisers departed at 11pm and I wandered around the port area without issue.

  7. I have also been in contact with Zoe for an upcoming sailing.  I pre-requested the mattress toppers(no problem) and had a question about the 2nd menu for Le Petite Chef, she send me the new menu and let me know it was usually the last 4 nights(original menu is the first 3).  You can ask them anything, and usually receive a response in 48 hours.

Thanks for posting this question as I've been unclear about the 2 experiences as well.

We're on a 7 night cruise on Equinox and  looking to reserve for the later part of our cruise (probably night 5 or 6).  Does anyone know if the 2 shows follow a typical schedule?  As in, typically the single chef for the first few nights and then the competition for next few nights?

    Thanks in advance.

I am interested in the new menu.  I spoke to a shoreside concierge she said first 3 nights original menu(single chef)last four nights new menu(chef and friends)

As someone who had booked a Signature Suite I can add that we were upgraded to a Royal Suite on our cruise.  I was looking forward to the Signature but I am not going to complain about a RS (LOL).  DH concerned we will never want anything less.  I have asked several people who had booked the Reflection suite how X handled that and have only been told that it was handled appropriately and there was no disappointment in the change.  I am sure they were moved to a PH, price reduced and guessing perhaps a future booking discount or some serious OBC?

Great to hear that Celebrity did the right thing by you.  I guess I was wondering how Equinox happened to have available Royal and Penthouse suites for the next 1 1/2 years till the ship gets it completed Edgeification   I don’t expect anyone to have an answer to this though.  Perhaps offered  to a different sailing in some cases.  Enjoy your sweet suite 😃🛳

  10. Thank you so much for posting the suite pics.  Only differences I see is a Celebrity X pillow and new robe in the closet.  It’s still a great suite. Celebrity was between a rock and a hard place on the refurb.  I have wondered what Celebrity was able to do for guests who booked the non-added Reflection and Signature suites

looking forward to any new choices in Luminea.

Can I ask who the retreat lounge consierge, suite manager and captain club hostess are?

isn’t Captain Kate just the best

Dear JJ,   Can not tell you, it is our first time In CS.

As you can see it’s a great space.  I liked closing the bedroom door so the Butler could leave  a carafe of latte, berries and muesli and the good pastries from Luminea  🥐

    have a wonderful cruise

Dear Mag, My sentiments exactly. Took some early morning photos. Yes the basketball court is still there. Not only did we have to drag the carry-ons into Michael's Club, we had to drag them to Luminae for first lunch as well (we were on Equinox in March before the Revolution) . As S2 on deck 12, a mistake, rolling thunder all night and into the morning hours from above. We are presently on our CS . The Retreat Sun deck is nice, but it hot even in the shade, compared to our balcony which juts out over the ocean catching a delightful Caribbean breeze as we sail for San Juan. Also the over hang is providing more shade that was slowly being eroded away on the Sun Deck Retreat.

    Hi

I’m in a CS in August...did you notice if there any upgrade at all to the suite?  Think the retreat deck looks great but agree it needs more shade to be comfortable.

thanks and enjoy your cruise 🚢

  13. Turns out Azamara had to change the itinerary last week dropping Key West and adding Miami as a port(the cruise ends in Miami).  Ship would ONLY be allowed to visit Cuba if it came from directly US port... Bermuda was between Key West and Cuba

that was last week...the rules have changed again.

This is going to be a mess for the industry

The cruise listed is Oceania I believe if that is ok to say here, I don't want to break any rules or anything. Yes, nearly every category is available or at least waitlisted or guaranteed. I was flipping back and forth between that one and Azamara, and I had a FF miles ticket to Barcelona to use, so I chose Azamara.

Thank you... I'll take a look

  15. That’s not the choice I would’ve gone with Azamara.  The ship should overnight in Bermuda instead.  This is a very disappointing update considering how much time they have to sort this out.  At least this year the changes were made prior to final payment.

  16. I’m sorry to see that Azamara is making this change to their upgrade program.  The deal the way it was $398 per room upgrade possibly was just too good to last.  I hope the powers that be will reconsider charging solo cruisers double...but since it’s defined in the FAQ I’m certain this is how it will remain.  That’s a shame, one of the last things that made Azamara a little different.

  17. This is a correspondence from my travel agent, she reached out to Azamara and yesterday I got a response

Hi Jennifer, Azamara has advised that yellow fever shots are not required.  They recommend them, but do not make it mandatory.  If your own doctor cannot provide them or recommend who can, Azamara suggested this website for additional information:

    Hi Hilarie,

I’m sailing on Azamara Pursuit Rio to Lisbon 3/20/19, there has been a lot of discussion about yellow fever shots being required for this sailing.  I can’t find a MD that has this available.  Would you be able to contact Azamara and get a answer as to whether a yellow fever shot is required to sail?

    Thank you

    Jennifer S.
