    3 RCCL cruises since 2010, 9 Celebrity since 2014.

Celebrity is our fav line...we find food & service to be a notch above other lines, ESPECIALLY on the new E class ships. (Ascent, Beyond, Apex, Edge)

We like RCCL only if it is the larger ships--we found Mariner had few activities each day (could have been a bad cruise director--he was a pompous a**)

RCCL does "bells & whistles" better--lots of activities on big ships.

(we aren't into them...and they are charging extra for nearly all of them now)

RCCL production shows are better--ALTHOUGH, Celebrity Eclass give those a run for their $.

Biggest reason we choose Celebrity over RCCL is their all inclusive pricing.

By the time we pay for tips, wifi & drinks on RCCL, the cost is higher than Celebrity.

And we find Celebrity to be a better product for the price.

Now, if kids are involved I'd probably choose RCCL (2/3 were with our kids)--tho they sailed the Celebrity Constellation when they were 15-20 & still had a good time. (they like the same things as us--trivia, gameshows, shows, music, hanging out together playing card/board games)

It will only be my wife and I sailing.

You mentioned Feb for a cruise.  Check your dates.  Prices can be very high if around Presidents weekend/week.  Usually schools have a break and you may find more kids.  Airfare and hotels are usually more expensive.

The dates we are looking at for Celebrity are fine. Reflection on Feb 3 and Equinox on Feb 24.

it also depends on what level you are.  I am Diamond Plus and love having my free drinks anytime of day.  Celebrity is a good cruise line, sailed on them to Elite Plus and have enjoyed my cruises.  Celebrity only has a short cocktail time for top tier, and not on embarkation day.  I can’t compare food as I have not sailed Celebrity since the menu change.  I agree which ship you sail would help make the decision.

We go on around 1 cruise a year and have been on Carnival, NCL and Royal so no high levels for us. We are never in the cabin so we book a inside cabin

We have done both cruise lines, but like others have said we can’t help unless we know what ships you are comparing.  I agree with @firefly333 Oasis has the best shows and Celebrity has few kids. Celebrity has a more adult quiet vibe.

On Royal, we are looking at the Oasis.  For Celebrity, it is the Reflection and Equinox.  I understand that the Oasis is much bigger than the other 2.

For you comment about Celebrity having a more adult quiet vibe, does that mean that it turns into a sleepy ghost town after 9:00?  We are looking for things to do after going to the late show.

Royal ships are so different.  I would never sail on Enchantment of the Seas while I love Oasis and Quantum class ships.  I find Quantum class to be similar to Celebrity Solstice class.

Which Royal ships have you sailed on?

On Royal, I have sailed on Freedom and going on Harmony in Dec.

I know that the size of the ships of Royal are much bigger.  That is not a big concern for me.

  6. What about a nightlife?  Especially after going to the late show.  On Royal, there is a sing along piano bar that is fun along with other bars and activities going on .  I want to know if Celebrity quiets down quite a bit later in the evening.  I don't want to walk around a ghost ship with everyone in bed.  Of course, if there is a port the next day, people may go to bed earlier since they have to get up early at the port. I am talking about when the next day is a sea day and you can sleep in a little bit.

With the entertainment, especially the live music, what type of music is being played?  Contemporary, 80's, classic, oldies, jazz, etc.

  7. We are starting to look at some cruises for Feb and have it down to Royal and Celebrity.  We have sailed on Royal several times but not on Celebrity.  Wanted to see if people can give their opinions about the 2 cruiselines. Looking for information to be able to compare food, entertainment and appearances, etc.

Would be helpful if there is feedback from people that have been on both cruiselines.  I know that I will get responses from the Royal diehards which I would love to hear but not negative comments about Celebrity just to put them down.

I am going to post the same thing on the Celebrity Forum to get their "side" of the story.

    Thank you

Equinox is revolutionized.  Reflection is not.  We have sailed both ships and prefer the Equinox.  There are more cabins on the Reflection and there isn’t more space, so it felt more crowded to us.

Was is Revolutionized?  Is that the same as refurbished?  I know that Reflection was in dry dock in 2022 and Equinox in 2019.

  10. Hello,

I have not yet sailed on Celebrity.  Been on Carnival, NCL and Royal.

Looking at 2 cruises in Feb.  Trying to decide between an 8 day on the Reflection (ABC islands) and a 9 day on Equinox (ABC islands and Grand Cayman).  I was able to get very good prices for both cruises.  Small difference in price between the 2.

Which ship do people prefer? Please give pros/cons for either.

    Thank you for your help!

  11. Hello,

I am looking at 2 different cruises in Feb.  They both go to the same ports (Great Stirrup Cay, Puerta Plata, St. Thomas and Tortola)

Encore leaves from Miami and Escape leaves from Port Canaveral.

Looking at an inside cabin on either ship and the price difference is only $50.

Wanted to get opinions on which ship to go on. Would be nice if there was anyone that was on both ships and could give pros/cons for each ship.

    Thanks for your help

I'll be on the Getaway next week and I'm debating whether to warn my boyfriend before he beelines it over to O'Sheehans once we embark. He loves their wings and he will definitely have an opinion if there is any difference from when we sailed in 2021. He is an extremely picky eater, and if he doesn't like something, he'll let you know. The wings are his go to when we return from an excursion or he's looking for a late night snack. There's a little bit of me that is curious to see if he'll notice the difference. At least now I'll be prepared if he notices! ☺️

Hey!  I'm on the cruise with you...  See you in a few days

I wish you (taegan) had gotten a response to your question as I would have liked to have known which "private driver" they hired in Amber Cove.  I will be on a cruise next month, stopping in Amber Cove and would very much like some recommendation on what to see and do - and/or companies that do excursions (do not want to do ship excursions).

We have a tour booked for next week with RV Tours.  They customized a tour for my group doing what we wanted to see.  Great communication and very fair price. Contact Rene @ https://www.rvtours.info/

Don’t know of any reason why…

Here is a screenshot of full contact details.
Best to try all modes confirmed before switching to an alternative provider.

    Good luck….

Hi there - I read your trip report and enjoyed it - thank you!  I looked up "Amber Cove Adventures" which you mentioned was your independant tour provider.  I googled it and couldn't find it - do you happen to know the website or contact info for them?  Thanks so much - we are travelling in a group of 13 - one is a person in a wheelchair and one is a toddler so I'm thinking this may be most ideal situation for us to be able to see more than just the pool!

    Thanks in advance!

Check out RV Tours.  We are booked with this tour company for our visit in DR next month.  They were able to personalize our tour with what we wanted to do.  Very good communications and a very good price.
