I had a similar issue with a TA, I did the work and when I found a lower price or added perks, I would have to call them and normally have to wait until they called me back, which by then the price or perks were gone. They also had a email which I like because If I have a question, I can email, go on with my day, and wait for the response, but again, never responded, so when I sent a "firm" email about my account, it was sent inter office to another TA, which responded to me on that thread, which included the inter office "conversation" about me being a pest and constantly bothering them
Ouch!

Once again, a zombie thread is revived. I wish Cruise Critic could automatically lock threads after a certain period of inactivity. Anyone wishing to bring up an old topic could provide a link to the locked thread.
Kinda damned if you do darned if you don’t here.... if the OP had brought this up, cheerleaders may have jumped on the OP for not using “search” to find the answers...

I’ve never had a problem with my flat iron getting hot enough... I might quit cruising if I did!! Lol

Will you please post the Daily Freestyles too? I would like to see how the days go... Our family is booked for an Alaska voyage 6/2019 and we have what I hear is one of the "secret larger balcony's" on deck 8. I'M SO EXCITED FOR ALL YOU WHO ARE SAILING BEFORE US. I'm living through this tread (and the roll call for my dates). Thank You.
What room do you have ? We are booked in #8710 in the fall... would love to see a photo!!

That sounds like a really great program! Good value imo.
Thanks so much for sharing this review and explaining it.
Is it available at all departure ports?
-
If that is true, then anyone who books such cruises is a damn fool.
I find that so offensive... how is the average vacationer supposed to have any idea about the dry dock schedule?
They would rely on the cruise company to give that information freely with a disclaimer

This. And the fact that if I pre-pay in CAD I usually get a better exchange rate than having them charge to my credit card in USD and converted.
This.

Regarding the offer for the Sun- if someone offered me a 25% discount to knowingly take this cruise I’d think they were out of their mind even attempting to market as a vacation.
100% agree. I would imagine very few of the onboard passengers would believ that to be an adequate discount! And imagine being held hostage for over TWO WEEKS!! Unable to leave even if you wanted to...

I am very disappointed in NCL for this. It is not acceptable to sell a full price cruise and deliver an inferior product. Dangerous and distressing for passengers.
I am so sympathetic to how frustrating it must have been for them - trapped for 15 days unable to pack their belongings and leave as one most absolutely would have done at a land based resort. NO ONE in their right mind would stay and put up with this, yet NCL took advantage of the fact that their passengers were unable to do anything about their discomfort.
The behaviour of the ships Captain is disgraceful and needs to be reviewed. He had a responsibility to discuss the situation with the passengers in his care and he clearly ( in the video we were able to see) was a unable to deal with an uncomfortable situation. This concerns me very very much. I would expect a Captain to be able to deal calmly and competently in this situation.
NCL needs to make amends to the passengers of this ship and issue an apology for both the state of the ship, the inferior product and the behaviour of the Captain in a difficult situation needs to be addressed.

Go for it! On our last Freedom cruise we upgraded to ocean view when the prices dropped. We loved it. We ended up on Deck2 which was amazing on port days.

My kids have been on 6+ cruises on various cruise lines and have never ever ever had a boring day. And they don’t do kids clubs....

Similar to Alaska cruises and other Northern European destinations. Much cruising takes place outside the Caribbean and warm climates. There is so much to do and they ensure lots of activities
Even in the warmer climates I barely find time to lay out in the sun...

In 2011, it was $1,200 in OBC. In 2013, it was $300 in OBC. In 2017, it was $600 in OBC. Last month, it was $200 in OBC.
That’s a lot of goodwill TA OBC
-
I’d be ok seeing the proof of a refund or OBC after final without cancelling, defaulting on deposit and rebooking.... anyone else?
I was just in this exact scenario and was told absolutely no.
I did however get upgraded from inside to ocean view. This of course had a $$ value. But it was not credited to me in OBC....

We loved this tour. Really really enjoyed it.

Well that’s good new! More likely that I will win the 10000$ lol

I prepay when the exchange rate is in my favour. Otherwise I bring US funds to pay balance or use my credit card with its current exchange rate
-
And quite frankly, in our 6 family cruises we have never encountered the “drunks” folks keep referring to. We found a land based All Inclusive to be much more alcohol influenced
-
I just re read your original post. If you’re never cruised before... I would say no. But still keep trying to get moved to same deck or share a room

My boys are 13 and 15. I would absolutely trust them to behave and not take advantage of the situation in any way. That being said, I’m not sure that they would be 100% comfortable. But, if they were, I’d be fine with it. They are seasoned cruisers and know protocol.
My point is - it’s up to you and your kids whether this would work. Or if it would make the vacation is any way stressful. My guess is that just at final payment you would get some cancellations that a TA could jump on a cabin move to get you on the same floor.
BUT - I’d highly recommend staying in the one family cabin. We always share a cabin with our kids. Alaska cruise means you are outside or on shore all the time anyway.

Is there a way to contact you to get the origin of this rate?

I booked an obstructed view (which is known not to be obstructed) but it’s technically an inside room. So if I allow a meta upgrade could it possibly go up to an actual OV that is obstructed?
I left the upgrade possibility open in case of a balcony upgrade. But is that too much of a long shot?

We were at Grand Cayman Dec 5 this year. No wind. I had one idea I should have worried!

The Four Seasons Vancouver is a pale comparison to its brand. I would not suggest there. I heard that they are currently in litigation due to no upholding brand standards
You could also choose the Pinnacle, the Marriott Pinnacle, Westin Bayshore or the Coast Coal Harbour as good choices.
If you choose Coal Harbour as your “zone” it’s all very lovely, very safe, very vibrant with easy access to Cruise terminal and you can taxi, bus, shuttle or SkyTrain from the airport
Email Princess if you are unhappy with the bottled water price increase

100%. I was frankly very surprised that they offered it at such a value price before!
The price was based on a US retail/cost as well. In other countries there is a significant increase in what it would cost to restock the ships supply.
