  1. We are choosing RCCL this first time for the big ship experience... flowrider, ice rink, promenade. That sort of stuff.

The itinerary was good and price was great.

Our last cruise was NCL Getaway in its inaugural season and it was amazing!! The water slides, ropes course, modern decor, great restaurants, comedy club was fantastic. Hoping this lives up.

  2. We are on the same Dec 3 cruise!

I’ve planned flights, hotels, day trips, transfers, onboard activities, excursions in the 3 ports, dining times, drink packages, parking, car rental etc. I will pack for all 4 of us this weekend. And print out all documents I need.

But I’m not stressing about Christmas.... because our tree is up and all the decorating is done!!

  3. My kids don’t do super well with last minute surprises. I have a video of them at the airport getting a last minute trip to Disney that is so awkward....

We do much better telling a while ahead so they can plan and get excited.

We like to set up the trips for Christmas or whatever and then let them get excited about planning after that first lesson :)

  4. I, for one, am very relieved that the pricing is stable and transparent. I’ve been working with RCI for the past 6 months and am FED UP with checking a double checking and cancelling and rebooking to get best price.

  5. How quickly we forget.... as little as 20years ago and most certainly 40 years ago when I was a kid, we didn’t expect out of season produce to be there if it wasn’t available. It simply wasn’t. Remember the long winters eating root mainly vegetables? (Or insert your area’s winter harvest)

Now the Costco instant gratification society expects fresh raspberries 365 days a year. Not possible folks... not sustainable.

Lemons and limes also have crop blights and shortages.

  6. There's one right now for the December 3rd Freedom sailing.

Yes. My Dec 3 Freedom excursions are all on sale. And RCCL must have adjusted their exchange rate ( to CAD ) because everything I already booked (in CAD) is discounted a few dollars less. I cancelled and rebooked those that have a >$10 difference. Since there are 4 of us.

  7. I think even if we were with friends we would take any fre upgrade as long as it was a category jump. We cruise with others 1/2 the time but, honestly , we can just meet up not need to be joined at the room. In fact we just booked a 8 room group cruise but opted to save $1700 and NOT book the balcony rooms everyone else was booking. Instead we chose a obstructed (but not!!) ocean view. I know we not be near the gang as we sleep... but that $1700 is a significant amount. If we get an upgrade, it would have to be a whole category and I’d be happy. But I’d refuse another ocean view room

  8. Not sure if it counts the same but I got upgraded on the second week of a B2B on the Adventure last year. First week I had a Promenade cabin on deck 7. Second week I had booked a Oceanview at the front of deck 9. The last night of the first cruise I got a call that they had changed my cabin for the second week. Ended up with a Balcony on deck 7 just down the hall from my first cabin. Made the second week of my cruise even better. Spent every sail away with friends on the balcony drinking wine and enjoying the views.

Sure does count! Congrats on that!!

  9. I think the op has had his question answered and came back to say they had been given good food for thought. I’m also agreeing with OP that it does change the booking system - just as it did when hotels adopted their New non refundable system.

But I’m not sure what is accomplished by judging them and attacking the OPs question, and then their recreational investments?
