  1. I called the number on the back of the credit card, where the operator looked back over the card history and discovered there were five declined attempts to use our card number in August -- which their algorithm caught, but they never notified us of at the time! BUT she said she HAD to cancel the card and send us new ones!!! She made an "exception" for the second gift card and waited on the line while I had to start again on HAL/buyatab and type everything in with one hand. (I realize I could have put the phone on speaker and set it down but wasn't thinking that rationally!) She also expedited the new card shipment, but overnight to Moab UT is often two days because we're in the middle of nowhere. They are protecting us, but mostly protecting themselves!
  2. It worked with Chrome, when I did not let Windows fill in ANYTHING. Not credit-card info, mailing address, or e-mail addy! I bought $1000 (send digital to my husband) with a $100 bonus card sent to me. Then I immediately typed in a second $500 card... and our bank denied it! (Issue 440) Going to wait a little but not so late that I can't call the bank!
  3. Yes. It shows up on the second page (the Cart page).
  4. When I put $1500 card in my cart, the bonus card showed as $150. When I changed that to a $1000 and a $500 cards, the bonus card STILL showed as $150. Since I want $100 and $50 cards to apply to OBC on my B2B, I was thwarted! Tried to make it into two purchases but was foiled at that too, as the charge didn't go through as described above. Going to try again today!
  5. You are under the Queen's Lounge, but seating area not band-stand. I think you'll be OK, but maybe take earplugs JUST IN CASE?!!
  6. I just tried to purchase a gift card and it 'hung up', giving me the error message that my information was incorrect... I clicked on Chat, and my chattee "May", told me that the error message I was receiving (9003 I think) meant that the credit card information had been automatically entered and needed to be typed in (manually?). Of course I had let Windows enter the data, verified by me entering the three-digit code on back of card, but that wasn't enough for the Buy A Gift Card protocol. So try that if you get an error!
  7. I keep a browser window open with tabs for Cruise Critic general reading, all (four) of my Roll Calls, HAL, cruisedeckplans, halfacts, and usually the splash screen for Roger Jett's photography! My silly glidepoint managed to close that browser window last night so I am just repopulating it today!
  8. Lean on (ask politely?) your TA to kick you back some OBC for not having got you the cabin you needed to start with. On the bright side, you will have plexiglass railing, not metal.
  9. Small rooms on big ships -- Princess. Larger rooms on smaller ships -- Holland America. Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  10. According to the Points Guy, Celebrity average age 50, Princess 57. ETA: which means almost nothing about any particular cruise. Math, how does it work anyhow?
  11. Ask here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/133-carnival-cruise-lines/ Very Line-specific information. On HAL you would NOT move up in rank until the end of your cruise, but that is immaterial to a Carnival cruise.
  12. I may be showing my age (65 in 2 weeks), but 2.3 miles towing luggage is NOT 45 minutes for me.
  13. Paging @chengkp75 to the white courtesy telephone...
  14. Sorry but HAL would not be a good fit. (And I am a HAL-bot.) Here is the Honeymoon Board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/18-honeymoon-amp-wedding-cruises/ What or where is your homeport, or if you would consider flying, what basic region do you want to visit? Also double-up on the Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  15. I don't believe any of the "I"s are the Super-K and some J's on the Main Deck. I opted out of a Guarantee on the Nieuw Amsterdam, with a mailorder Travel Agent, when I realized I might end up in an I on upper deck with only a single desk chair for seating. In theory, the lower the Alphabet designation the better the cabin. In fact, they have changed the designations so that they can put guarantees into less desirable cabins and still claim they have "upgraded" you.
  16. Let us know what you pay. This thread started with the observation that the Mariner Society chart says "25% Discount of $49.00 per person surcharge in Rudi’s Sel De Mer fleetwide." Stating that the discounted price is greater than the pre-sailng price.
  17. @Freshness Tap the Health Protocols Tool in Inside-Cabin's HERE page, enter you name and booking number (OR your cruise's ID). Most probably, if you are up-to-date on your vaccine and boosters you won't have to test.
  18. I understood (from the Chat person I got) that it was the button-counters and not IT that had the Rewards off-line. The fact that the $500 Cruise cards went away agrees with that. My final payment is about one week out. OTOH, with only $100 (x5) cards available the most you and I can save would be $50...
  19. Nice mini-review on halfacts: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/5231-nieuw-statendam/ 5231 should be left-to-right mirror image of 5200 (if that truism is true for aft...). ETA: I found two adjoining Aft Verandahs with photos on cruisedeckplans and they are in fact mirror images. So if the bed is on the right wall as you look at the balcony doors in 5231, it will be on the left wall in 5200.
  20. Today is Sunday; don't think you'll be getting anything from DMV today...
  21. Well, the OPost specified to keep you looking your best or something like that. General travel would be another list! As far as ducktape, we once spent three weeks in the same hotel in Beijing; we were sharing a room with an older lady. The bathroom floor was EXTREMELY slippery, and I was especially concerned for her falling. I took the duct tape off our hardshell suitcase (where it was as a spotting-on-the-conveyor marker) and cut it to strips to make the tile more slip-proof!
  22. cruisemapper.com and whatsinport.com are two sites. They don't always agree, so compare. Welcome to Cruise Critic, by the way!
  23. Using the PCC you have been assigned is a good way to avoid the long wait on hold. They are also available by e-mail! If you don't hear back from the e-mail promptly, call the extension and listen to message, as he or she may be on vacation (then you can call the PCC main line, stay on through the menu options, and talk to the switchboard operator who will set you up fine). Open seating is surely available.
