  1. Hi Karen,

Yes we cruised together.......I just couldn't remember which cruise.

I thought since you started the roll call for the Nov 6th sailing that you were on that one.....sorry if I got confused.

    Janet

I found the information in the calendar page - read the itinary and below but missed the top! Thankyou all for your help. Cattolica - I think we cruised with you in Hawaii??? Karen
  2. If you are boarding the Regal this weekend, I was wondering what day they will schedule the second formal night. The first one will be the first sea day.

How many formal nights are there on a seven night cruise? Thanks,Karen
  3. That food looks disgusting. Makes me glad that we never attempted eating at the MDR while on the Regal. That buffet is the best!

I am pretty sure you are looking at her half eaten meal.

We were also on the Royal at the same time. No waits for seating in Anytime dining, wonderful service and the food was fine the entire 10 days. There were a couple of nights that we didn't enjoy our table mates. No problem with that, just made sure we weren't seated with them again.

    It was a great cruise.

  4. The majority were between the ages 12-17. I am sure they had no interest in a kids club. I confirmed the number before sailing (as I always do). Also I was told that they do not have a kids club on the small ships unless there is a certain number of younger guests sailing. That number was either 25 or 35. That doesn't mean all sign up for the club.

We were also on board. I talked to one of the 2 women who were in charge of the Kid's Club and she said they had approx. 20 who were signed up for the club.

There was at least one toddler not in the Club.

As for the other 79 of the 100 who were apparently on board, we never noticed them.

    Didn't see any bad behavior.

The "card room" was changed to the Kid's Club. The only time we saw the kids was when they were herded to the buffet in the late afternoon (around 3-4PM) for ice cream.

  5. In December we cruised out of San Pedro. Flew into LAX from South Florida the night before. Did extensive research for a hotel. Ended up booking The Custom Hotel near LAX for around $135. Since we were arriving late we wanted to be closer to a hotel rather than closer to the port.

We wanted a hotel that was convenient to a grocery store. This hotel is located next to a Ralphs Grocery store (large west coast chain store). The hotel was perfect for our needs including a complimentary shuttle from and to the airport.

Bought all our "supplies" the next morning. The hotel shuttled us back to the airport where we took Super Shuttle down to the cruise port.

Also, the hotel is off the main "drag" of all the other airport hotels so to us it seemed a little quieter. This hotel is marketed as a boutique European style hotel.

  6. Ok, if this link works it is a photo of cabin 8008 on the Pacific Princess. This is a quad cabin. I know it doesn't show it made up for four people. It does not look like there are any beds that drop from the ceiling. The couch pulls out to make the additional bed(s). It may be possible that they offer a rollaway bed.

As I suggested earlier, you may want to call Princess to get information on how they set up the cabin for four guests.

For us it was not cheaper to do two inside rooms. The 2nd two where taxes only. I has a special deal. So the only room they had for 4 was a mini suite. Last year we did a round trip Hawaii in an ocean view room. So this will for sure be more room. When and if we all needed to change at once the kids (teens) went to the gym and showered. However we never really felt cramped. I was more looking to find pictures and not to hear I was nuts for booking this room. I have been on the mini on the grand and ruby but know that this ship is different which is why I asked. If anyone has pictures of 4 person mini on the Pacific I would sure love to see them. In fact any picture on the pacific would be great. We are 19 days out and getting excited.
  7. You may want to call Princess and ask. I did a Google search and it looks like the 3rd and 4th passengers possibly share the couch which opens to a double bed. I don't know this as fact it was just what I found with the limited information from the Internet search.

Has anyone been in one of the four person mini suites on the Pacific princess. We are booked and I am just trying to figure out the bed situation. Pictures would be helpful if anyone has them. We are in 8009
  8. Been cruising Princess since 1998. Received a complimentary upgrade in 1999. Presently on my 21st cruise and have never received an upsell. Always happy with the cabin category I chose.

  9. I don't think you will find a taxi that will offer a flat rate from the cruise terminal in San Pedro to John Wayne Airport. That airport is not commonly used for flights after a cruise.

We used to live about 10 mins from John Wayne Airport and used Super Shuttle to get to and from the cruise terminal many times.

The shared shuttle rate was around $80 plus tip. Last time we used a shuttle was about 4 years ago so I don't know if the prices have changed.

You are probably better off checking the prices for a shared shuttle or town car service from the cruise terminal to the airport

Just got off the phone with a very knowledgeable Princess Customer Service Representative (Jody). She walked me through the internet until I found the newest version of the Cruise Answer Book. Yes...beginning 2016 bottled water AND canned soda will not be allowed to be carried on your cruise.

But the good news is that Chocolate Covered Strawberries are seasonal and have not been permanently removed from the Elite Formal Night card.

I doubt if any campaign to reverse the water/soda policy will be effective, but I think if each and every one of us write on the comment cards and surveys for each cruise we take, maybe Princess will rethink this new policy.

  11. You would not have made that flight if you were on our cruise last September.

The first walk-off wasn't until almost 8:30am. We didn't get to the airport until almost 10:00am.

The traffic to the airport was horrible and once in the airport was worst. It was on a Saturday......so you never know what traffic will be like.

The security lines were also extremely long.

We were dropped off at the first terminal. Luckily our flight wasn't until after 12:00pm so we weren't stressed.

We always do a 10:40 flight from LA. ;)
  12. More than likely it's resident rates for me. I live in Florida, it was $999 yesterday for all October 10 day Caribbean sailings......didn't matter what date.

Must depend on the sail date, our Oct. 2015 10 day Caribbean sailing worked like this:

Yesterday......balcony $1399 with a refundable deposit, no OBC.

Today...........balcony $1099 with NON refundable deposit, $100 OBC

Since we booked with our usual discount TA, these numbers are not our prices and we are still ahead with the TA pricing/perks, but the difference is down to a teeny number. Final due in three days, and fine print does say OBC is only for new bookings. But the price itself is a very good 21% reduction.

  13. We were on the Caribbean Princess for 10 days in November 2014. Our only complaint had to do with our cabin. When they replaced the carpet it appeared it was cut a little short. It left a "tack" strip exposed by the bed (next to the wall of the closet and also at the balcony door).

This was pointed out to our cabin steward who alerted his supervisor. Maintenance came and removed the tack strip as it had staples that pointed up.......would have hurt had we stepped on it. They did not change the carpet so about 2 inches of the floor was exposed in those areas. We survived......it just looked a little odd.
