  1. Maritime R/R:

I Also Live In America---Orlando, To Be Specific.

I Got My Info From When I Talked To The Crown / Anchor Rep On The Phone, As Well As My Travel Agent.

In Addition, If You Read My Entire Original Post...I Said That I Was Told The ANTHEM Would Go On Sale 03/13/14...Not Sure Where You Got The Quantum From.

The Lack Of Communication Isn't Surprising To Me From RCCL, As I Have Called And Asked A Few Questions Before, And Gotten Different Answers---All Depending On Who Answered The Phone.

I did read your entire post. I agree that RCCL does have problems with communicating within their departments and although the information you received may be true, I reported what I was told this morning. Insofar as the information I relayed concerning the Quantum, I am well aware that your post did not refer to the Quantum. I included it in my post purely for those who might be interested in any update regarding any new Quantum deployment releases.

  2. Not sure where the RCCI rep or your TA got their information, but I am in the U.S. and I just got off the phone with Crown and Anchor. I am an upper tier member. The rep. told me that they have received no notification that any new sailing dates for Anthem are to be released today or tomorrow. She then verified that information with the Resolutions Department whom she said is the first to be notified of future deployment sailings. In addition, the Resolutions Department told her that as of today, no specific date for new sailings of Quantum has been set.

  3. Wikipedia says they are usually next to a river or large body of water, where people may walk. do I smell an indoor lazy river. Fingers crossed, Fingers crossed,Fingers crossed.

I've been out of Bayonne numerous times during the winter, with several of trips heading down to the Caribbean besieged with seas over 15ft. All outside areas of the ship, including stateroom balconies were closed off -- pools, Jacuzzi es, were emptied and netted...water slopped under the promenade doors, flooding the carpeting, and persons aboard were falling down. I realize that QOS will be much larger and will have a better stabilization system than any other RCCI or Celebrity ship that has sailed out of Bayonne (I can't speak to what it's like on the Breakaway) but I can't see RCCI creating any type of feature that would require it be emptied and netted. It would create too much of a hazard. A solid, Central Park type setting is most likely.

  4. Wouldn't it be nice if RCCI had utilized an RSVP for Pinnacle members and then, based on the numbers that declined sent out invitations to Diamond Plus, Diamond, etc. in that order.

It would certainly go a long way in making their other C&A members feel like they were valued.

  5. Am packing today and leaving Friday on the EOS - which as a result of the CDC overseeing the cleaning of the ship and the multiple times it has been cleaned will probably be the most sanitary ocean-going vessel on the high seas!

Of course, I am very interested in the CDC analysis of the stool samples they took. That report is due out today. If it confirms Noro as the culprit, I think most of us who are sailing can rest a little easier --however, if it turns out to be e-coli or something else, then I would definitely have second thoughts.

I strongly believe that if RCCL made no self-service at the buffet for at least the day people are boarding (after commuting by train, bus, airplane) that it would greatly reduce Noro outbreaks.

  6. We were on the GOS fire last May 2013 & they actually gave us double points for our shortened cruise. We were also given a FC for 100% of what we paid plus a full refund.

thanks for the info. It looks like my cruise this Friday on the EOS will be leaving on time and likely be the cleanest ship in the fleet given the early return to Bayonne and the CDC supervised cleaning.

  7. Our Allure cruise in August 2012 morphed from a 7 night cruise to a 5 night cruise due to Port Everglades closing down for 2 days during Hurricane Isaac. (And the Allure cruise prior to ours went from a 7 nighter to a 9 nighter.)

We still got 7 points for the cruise, even though we only had 5 nights aboard. (I assume the folks on the previous cruise also got 7 points.)

Thanks so much for your reply. I hope if my sailing this Friday aboard the EOS is shortened that the same way they handled it for you will apply to me as well!

  8. Does anyone have experience with having been on an RCCL cruise that was shortened either by the ship's leaving a day or two later than scheduled or returning earlier than scheduled? I asked a C&A representative about this yesterday when the possibility of a delayed-embarkation date was first mentioned regarding the 1/31/14 EOS. She said she had no idea what RCCL has done in the past.
