Have any of you been to Tortola with NCL before? My cruise swapped St Croix for Tortola and was wondering if you all knew of anything fun to do there. (I do have an 8 and 5 year old that will be with us, we had looked at Jost Van Dyke but that sold out quickly)

Also that breakfast for $13 has to be on the map for best value in airport foods in the country

The worst part of 'maintenance issues' is always the paperwork at the end, always feels like an eternity....may I suggest some morning cocktails?

I was just looking at Waterboy for our trip! Did you drink at night before bed or in the AM?
I would wake up in the morning and take it first thing with some Cold water....20 mins later I was golden (just like the golden refreshing crisp of miller lite....that got me into the hangover mess in the first place lol)

Underrated advantage of a cruise vacation-once on board no travel, no parking, no traffic. No re-packing, multiple check-ins/checkouts or bus, uber or taxi-those darn elevators though😉
..no $50 terrible breakfasts at disney....sorry just adding to your list (which is very correct)

So tonight @HelloItsMeB and I spent the evening at the house with my mom, telling stories and ordering in a mess of food from our favorite local burger joint….
it was a real “this is hard and we have a long way to go and we’ll always miss him but we’re gonna be okay” kinda night. Really good for the soul. Mom was happy and relaxed and ate like a regular human for the first time this week. Hell, I could say the same. I’ve lost 6 pounds since Dad went into the hospital on Saturday. Anyway, this still sucks and I’m still processing, but after a day spent getting finances in order, finding insurance policies, reorganizing bill pays, shutting services off, etc… it felt good and at least like a step in the right direction. And thanks to everyone following along with me here - this one is gonna be weird, but I’m ready for it.
(Oh, and I got home in time to watch the 4th quarter of the Mavs game.)
"We'll always miss him but we're gonna be okay" - This really struck a chord with me and going back to what I posted on the tribe, it really is true.
For me, the trick to getting over the initial shock / pain is finding little pockets of 'normal' like you did last night, enjoying your cruises this summer etc. Let it hurt when it hurts, but when you've got a chance for some normal moments, dont feel bad taking them!

I'd have to go buy new toiletries, starting with a toothbrush and case! But also I would show this to the manager and refuse any room access.
That's a whole lot of other peoples 💩 getting flung around your stuff.
Happily back home now...getting ready for my cruise in 2 weeks! (All the toiletries were left in Jersey haha)

So..... what did you do about it??? Did you pick it up and put it in the trash? Call the front desk? I don't know what I'd do.
Put it in the hall and went to the bar…will let the front desk know though.

Also - apologies for not reading prior to posting and putting something gross / funny when it didn’t fit the room at the time.

So without getting into it and going on and on with the details, which I just don’t have the bandwidth to do right now, after three days of increasingly good news and nothing but positive prognoses, my Dad took a hard turn yesterday and we lost him. I know it’s the natural order of things and I know he lived a full life of 80 years, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it hurts like hell. I have a lot of questions about what happened in the final days at that hospital, but there’s no sense in looking back and right now I’m helping my mom get everything together and in the right direction. We’ve already made a lot of progress, and luckily he would absolutely kill us if we had some big memorial service for him, so that’s made the process simpler.
I knew it would be this way, and to say I have mixed emotions is a gross understatement, but Mom is insisting it is utterly non negotiable for me to go on my cruise next week. I understand there’s nothing more I can do here by that point and that she’s incredibly strong and independent and surrounded by friends and family, so I’ll go, but I don’t know quite what the experience will be like. My Dad was from Cuba, he loved the sea immensely, and he’s the reason I got into cruising as a 9 year old disappointed we weren’t going to Disney World when he booked us on the Celebration in 1988. So I’m going to do it, after this week I’ll need it, and even if it ends up being a disaster, I’m gonna try.
I’ll mention this eventually on my Live, but I’m gonna try to proceed as normally as possible over there for my own sanity and distraction. But for y’all, I wanted to share what’s really going on.
So this one’s for the best “Dastardly” in the history of John Heald’s Bedtime Story, and the best dad a kid could ever have.
Oh, and if you wonder what kinda guy the old man was, this is the folder he left behind for mom and I with finance and insurance info….
Very sorry to hear about this. My dad was probably the person I was closest with and I lost him 8 years ago. It was a rough time but as it passes and it hurts less, the feelings / memories that stick around are the good ones, I hope you find that same comfort as time goes on.

At a hotel for work this week, shower flooded this morning and then I came back after the work day to this little number on the bathroom counter. I’ve read enough reviews and immediately thought of @sid_9169 and @Saint Greg and that there might be something to the limited access for room attendants….

20 days until my 2nd cruise on Norwegian Jade this year....but have to get through a trip to New Jersey first (its for work, I love going there for my Jersey Shore trip each summer!). Fly out today and back late Thursday night, then it's time to start getting excited!
