  1. My cruise is still over 45 days away but I am growing concerned. I currently have a back problem that prevents me from standing in one place for long periods without pain. Long walks are difficult also. Of course, this is not a permanent disability that requires special ADA accommodation. I can only find information on CCL website about wheelchairs and carts.

The last cruise I was on we were required to stand during muster drill for at least 30 minutes as we waited on stragglers. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? I can't think of any other time I had to wait in a long line. As far as long walks at ports I have thought of bringing a small fold-able stool in case I needed rest break.

  2. I use the patch when cruising (and meclizine and the wrist band). I usually can leave the patch off after the first 3 days and just use the meclizine. I find they both make me very thirsty. I still feel the motion of the ship (when others do not seem to) and it makes me somewhat dizzy but not nauseous. It seems like a lot of medication but if you've never suffered from motion sickness you might not get it. It's worth the side effects to me to be able to enjoy cruising.

  3. Thanks so much for your review. I am sailing the Conquest in June with a different itinerary. I went to Grand Turk last Oct and was disappointed but now I know about the golf carts for next time. Our ship skipped HMC last October and I was so looking forward to it. I like your attitude. So much about enjoying yourself is deciding that you are not going to sweat the small stuff and let it ruin your vacation.

  4. From Carnival: Thank you for providing us with your shareholder verification in order to process your on board credit. However I am unable to apply the credit. The benefit is not applicable to reduced / complimentary promotions. Therefore no credit has been applied.

I assumed it was for the $50 OBC I received when booking. I think we got a good rate, also. Do you think I should challenge this in some way?

  5. I searched high and low to find this info so I thought I would share it in a post with a good title.

Fax Guest Services Admin Supervisor at 1-305-406-6102

Include booking number, sail date & Ship, and a brokerage statement showing the CCL shares.

I requested this on my upcoming cruise. I got a response back by email letting me know that I did not qualify because I had received promotional credit at booking. :( Oh, well. More future cruises are on the horizon.

  6.

We put a washcloth over the cabinet door to keep it ajar. I think this helps with the air circulation.

    .

Thanks, for this idea. It's disappointing when they won't cool the bottled water. I am hoping that having an empty fridge would improve things.

  7. Thanks everyone. I have been on three Carvinal ship but I have never looked into/thought about the microwave thing before.

I have zero complaints about Carnival food EXCEPT for their popcorn. I love the dive in movies but have not enjoyed the popcorn while watching them. It has always seemed like it has a "burnt" taste to it (for me) ..was thinking of bringing my own for this reason :)

No worries, I like the idea of bringing a bag of the pre popped stuff, I hadn't thought about that!

    Happy Cruising

I thought of this microwave idea, too. Too bad, though. I'm going to take some flavored popcorn salt for my next cruise

  8. Does anyone know which ships are included in this extended itinerary? I am booked on the Dream for September 25-October 2 2016. I am hoping that this new itinerary is available because I would love to go to the main land to Xel-Ha. Thanks everyone.

You can look your ship/itinerary up on the website. Yours does not show Cozumel Plus like the the itinerary the week before. It does say "Extra VAlue"

but I'm not sure what that is.

  9. I'm cruising on the Magic in January and don't see anything indicating my cruise has changed? Where are you all finding this? Is it limited to cruises out of certain ports, certain cruises, or does it appear to be totally random which cruises have been switched? Our Cozumel times are 7-3. I was really hoping it would be extended to 4 or 5!

My cruise details have not changed either but when I did a search for the cruise on the main page it did draw attention to that sailing being Cozumel Plus.

Seems like a lot of hoopla if we are only talking 2 hours extra, though.

  10. I have a white noise machine. It is a Dohm model (Search Amazon for white noise machine). It is around $50 and worth EVERY penny. Be warned - you will never want to sleep without it again. It actually works with a fan inside and is far superior (IMO) to any phone app which reproduces the sound electronically. It is electric and I took along a power strip and extension cord to take care of all the electronics at night. (I put everything away in the morning).

  11. I'm in the same situation. I was losing weight nicely until I developed lower back problems, most likely a herniated disc (which I've had before) and my weight loss has been slowed. My cruise leaves in 2 weeks and I'm going to take my cane and a supply of painkillers.

This is where I am also, bulging disc, and severe sciatic leg pain and nothing seems to make it better. My cruise is 69 days away. I am hoping I can take a course of oral steroids before the cruise to make it easier. Right now, I can't walk far or stand for long periods. I would like to know how you did on the ship when you get back.

  12. Did any of you use iphones? I'm wondering if the iphone to iphone texting which I believe doesn't go through your carrier will work with the social media package or while on airplane mode? I'm looking for ways to keep up with each other while on the ship. I know we could use one of the chat apps but texting would be easier. I wish Conquest had the new Hubb app.

  13. What a great thread!

I'm working hard exercising and eating clean to try to get back to my normal size. Had hip surgery last September and gained 40 pounds due to inability to move and care for myself. Finally back on my feet exercising regularly and eating clean on my own.

My cruise is 60 days away and I want to feel good and be healthy for it and not held back by my still recovering hip. We can do it!!!!

I've had some health issues, too, that have kept me from exercising. Trying to lose the weight with diet and a little exercise.

  14. I ordered the chocolate cake on my last cruise for the MDR on the last night (to celebrate a birthday). In hindsight I should have ordered it earlier. It was very good and of course we had no way to package it to take with us. We did have some for breakfast the next day.
