Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I agree Nassau is not exciting and it will be packed with other ships over the weekend, but I'm not sure they had much choice (assuming that is where we end up...have not seen a specific itinerary yet). Have to leave the US, and T&C is perhaps a little too far for a 7-day out of NY. They could probably squeeze in 8 hrs somewhere on the east coast before heading to the Bahamas if they could make arrangements with the respective port authority, but don't know how feasible that is. Disappointed we won't get to Bermuda, but we'll make the best of it.
  2. Well-designed apps have their use. I've used ship apps for three main tasks: 1) to check the activity schedule - easier than carrying around the paper copy 2) to refer to ship deck plans (useful on big ships, maybe not so much on O ships) 3) check account status Dinner menus would be nice to have, but have never seen this on my cruises. First O cruise coming up next week - I'm sure I'll survive without an app.
  3. We booked the cruise online. I was looking up the number to request the air deviation when I got a call from a NCL pcc to see if I had any questions - she was able to process my deviation request, and I got an email confirmation of the request (with a $180 credit) within minutes.
  4. For our upcoming cruise 3/25 out of Tenerife, we requested a one day early arrival, and automatically got a $180 credit ($25 + transfer costs ) which will cover the ride from the airport to a hotel within walking distance of the port, the cost of the hotel, and the transfer to the Lisbon airport at the end of the cruise, with a couple dollars left over.
  5. Just got our BOGO flight details 43 days out. Overall pretty decent - ATL-AMS-Tenerife with a 2.5 hr layover, and return LIS-AMS-ATL with a 90 min layover. Delta tickets on flights operated by KLM (flight to TNS operated by Transavia). Was able to select seats on all but the Transavia flight. We'll see how it works out. Would have cost $2300 per person for these same flights (although I probably could have found cheaper albeit less ideal times), BOGO cost was $1208 total.
  6. A related question....how do the muster drills work when you join an "in-progress" cruise? We are getting on the Sun in Tenerife March 25, when many (most?) of the passengers boarded a few days earlier in Lisbon. Surely they do not shut down the entire ship in this instance.
