Tried it all, guess I will just try tomorrow from my desk top

All cruise lines interactive websites are garbage. RCCL is by far the worst! Don`t let the RC Cheerleader's tell you any different. Some days easey-peasy, others all drop down menu options take you back to home base. Tough it out, book your stuff. Once on board, all will be Allll-Right!

I have absolutely no idea what ships can or can't fit anywhere however I have a very hard time believing that any captain would put his ship in a position where they only had 6-7 feet of clearance on either side. Somehow I suspect that there was a lot more clearance than that but telling passengers that they are 6-7 feet away makes for a whole lot better story.
I'm thinking that the 6-7 feet clearance is possibly the clearance they have until they reach the safety zone which may provide an additional 25, 50 or 100 feet on either side.
Either way you would still be correct that Ovation wouldn't fit as she would be breaching that safety zone.
You really should not doubt a Georgia Boy, when it comes to Sub-artic celestial, and geo-thermal tidal variances. They know their stuff!

Fascinating...as its hard to believe ANYONE's time is worth that much compensation no matter what they do. But if you can get someone to pay it....good for you.
I should have been more clear...wish I was compensated that much!!! Apparently some corporate accounting firms classify folks in a company as a profit or cost center. As part of the sales team, I guess I fell into the former.
So, enuf of this banter... See ya back on our roll call CF1. I'll give you a zinger over there. :D

This thread is going to be deleted because CC is supposed to be Happy and it should be!, but before that, I just wanted to say that you folks that have turned this into a trumpesque soapbox make me sick.
A couple of years ago, my company calculated that my time was worth
$ 1,235 an hour to the company. So yes, time has value.
A year ago, I spent 1 1/2 hours with Comcast, resolving a recurring issue and yes I said " what are you going to compensate me for my time when they clearly admitted it was their fault. They gave me a $200. Credit to our next bill.
Some of you folks may think that your "Time" in worthless, but mine and the OP don't!

Spot on
It seems the op brings their booze in rum runners to skate by on buying drinks, so not surprised by all the drama and then wanting to be comped.

It is NOT just RCCL that has been doing regular & non refundable deposits .Ran into this much higher price situation with a Holland America cruise ,we wanted to book .:(We wound up NOT booking because of the much higher price difference . With Holland we could have taken out their Platinum insurance which gives back 90% if cancelled for ANY Reason . but ,it is just the idea of NOT liking a 2 tier price system
Fortunately we only book with certain Travel Agents with whom we have a lot of past bookings & they explained the differences .:D
Imo the only protection that a person has against the cruise line computers making mistakes is to book with a reliable travel agent ,who sends you your deposit invoice ;which includes your total price of the cruise ,you booked ,the deposit amount, your cabin number selection , any on board credit amounts in dollars ,, if you have pre paid gratuities & if you bought either the cruise line insurance or outside insurance with your travel agent . Doing this then you have No hassles come final payment & documentation . The Travel Agent is responsible for making sure your booking is accurate .;)
Could not agree anymore!!! Cruzing is the only thing I use a TA for and I have a great one!
-
Every week someone comes up with another lame excuse for seeking a freebie.
kinda rude! the op`s time has value, as does mine and yours!
-
Every cruz-line out there has lousy interactive websites. RCL is by far the worst. Hit the dropdown cruise planner and Lord only knows where you end up:(
-
Thanks all!
Had a feeling it was similar! On the Jade-Northern Europe in September, I`d tip em with euros, pounds, dollars and that funny Danish money (usually got a laugh as they checked which currency)-
-
I will miss O'Sheehan's as our regular waterin hole (love the Reuben an a Stella). Does RCL have something like it on the Oasis?
-
After 4 NCL cruises with their (supposed "free" drink pkg) none of the bartenders had a problem pouring doubles. It`s nice to get a double Bacardi Black n coke to sip on as you go into a show, etc.
Experiences??? Thanks
-
Two, three & four tails are great! Just be careful with the drawn butter...It may come back and "haunt" you about 2AM
-
Got my RCL Visa today and signed up at BOA. Under awards it talked about OBCs and wine package credits, but not the Deluxe Beverage Package.
Anybody have experience with this?
-
Thanks for that! Does a heart good...has always been one of our favorite ports!
-
Thought that I`d already signed off this thread, but intellect prevails, and am proud that a few folks are taking a look at OPTIONS. RCL, CCL, NCL diff-Deals Diff Days-What`s best for you and your krewe!!!
On RCL we bought the buy one get 1/2 off bev pkg. It`s really not the booze, it`s so dam convenient, even if we don`t break even, it`s worth it! The wife gets her Foo-Foo Coffee in the morn, bottled H2O to go ashore-Cold Beer(or 2) with a flip of the card-back onboard.
Still $450 ahead of the Game!
Sail on Cruzers!
-
Oh and G`nite seashark-I hope somewhere out there....................you find Peace!
-
Thanks to all the kind and intelligent folks here that appreciated what I was trying to accomplish...Take a look around, you might just save some money.
As for the rest: Bupkis
Signing off, It`s beer `o clock! HAGW!
-
Just so this also doesn't become "news" . . .
Geeeeeze-I put out a post that Might, just might save a few folks some $$$$ and who shows up:
Have a great day and weekend everybody!

This doesn't make sense. If I find an NCL cruise that is considerably cheaper than a comparable RCI cruise (not hard to do) does that mean that suddenly the 'free drinks' are back to being free again?
We quickly found out on our Jade cruz(Northern Europe) a month ago that NCL prices European guests different that US Pax. A few of the Scots and Brits were upset that they got different rates and perks.
-
Also I`m not saying that EVERY cruz on RCL will be cheaper...Just take a look. You never know until you check!
Looks like you are very Brand loyal. Hope that you look around. Heck, we sailed out of Venice a couple of months after the Concordia disaster on Costa and got the best cruz deal ever.
-
Every sailing has to be evaluated on its own based on line, itinerary, ship, dates, etc. I would make the switch you made in a heart beat. I've wanted to cruise on royal but every time we go to pick a cruise and choose dates and itinerary - royal is the most expensive. There's no answer that is always right.
Check today-RCL is running a 2nd guest 1/2 price promo and free grats and a $100. balc discount. It all added up to the 1K savings. Promo ends tomorrow....if one can believe anything that any line says about promos:o
-
This isn't news.
It was to me! And perhaps others. But glad that you are so smart!
The Oasis is a much nicer ship so good for you. You got a deal. But I don't think that is the norm as Royal rarely, if ever, offers "free" drink packages. They are offering a discounted drink pkg. If I buy it, we`ll still be $500 ahead! And Thanks-I`m not married to any cruise line, but these mega ships have so much in the way of non-stop entertainment. You can find live music anytime at several spots.
-
We`ve done 4 of the promo cruises. The 1st two were comparable in price with other lines and then the base fares started going up. Yesterday I switched from the Dawn in March to a similar itinerary/dates on Oasis of the Seas. It was $1000. (ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS) LESS for the 2 of us.
-
March will be our 6th cruise with the UBP-It goes way beyond booze! I like a diet Pepsi after a walk in the morning and when beer `O Clock rolls around, it is monster convenience!!! No waiting around to sign receipt. Order, grab and go.
Mostly you get to experiment with wild cocktails that you might not ordinarily order at $10 a pop.
Everybody tries to make things difficult-Just have fun with it! Try a BB& C for desert!

Most of the big spots are walkable if you book a central hotel or condo. Their subway is also pretty good. We took the train from the Termini station to the port. It`s really a lot easier than you would think. We were about 4 blocks from Trevi fountain. Most folks were more than happy to help and download your City guide maps. You`ll be fine-We loved Rome..........just ate too much:D
-
Yes, but there is ONLY ONE.
You will feel a sense of personal accomplishment & pride discovering it on your own, rather than just being handed the secret location of caffeine awesomeness by a random CC board contributor.
There is no "personal accomplishment & pride" one the 1st seaday, a tad of hangaround, and Need to Feed caffeine~fix! Please advise

My USA contactless card was not always received overseas and I don`t like breaking out my wallet in groups of people. The lanyard oyster worked great for us. JMHO
Which Mediterranean itinerary?
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
We did a similar itinerary on the Epic last year.
Let me say this just once: ROME You may only get a chance to go there once in your lifetime. It is MOST definitely NOT a 7 hour excursion! We spent 4 full days there (pre & post cruz) and still had items "not done". It is a spectacular city with so much history and sites, you won`t want to leave. BTW a 50 minute train-ride from the Termini train station and you`re right at the port. Piece of cake and I speak zero Italian. Everybody was so helpful!
Re: Barcelona...Other than Familia Sagrada (spectacular) a few Gaudi stops and time at Los Ramblas, it`s just another bustling Big City. And you can do it all in one day!!!
Of and I highly recommend Pompeii morning and Amalfi coastline for lunch and a stop at Sorrento. I have a fabulous guide I could recommend.
