  1. I`m always surprised that there aren`t more accidents or worse from these mini scuba courses. My PADI certification was 6 weeks of water and classroom time. 1/3 of the class was failed because they panicked when put into any kind of stressful situation.

I HIGHLY recommend getting certified before your cruise for you own safety and getting comfortable breathing underwater. Being prepared and water comfort will make you trip experience much better.

  2. Long time CCL cruzer and always had an active to over-active Roll Call. We planned Sail~Away gatherings, slot pulls, shore excursions together and met frequently onboard for a cocktail or coffee. Nothing on our upcoming March cruz. Folks making comments but no intentions of getting together or even acknowledging one another. I`ve even looked at other RCs and pretty much the same. Are CCL and NCL Pax that different???

People have always made the difference (many many Great times and memories) on each of our 18+ cruzes, but I`ve tried humor, pleading, whatever and nothing.

I know that meeting strangers face to face is not everybody`s cup of tea, but it begs the question, why even post to a roll call if you don`t plan on participating?

    OK-Flame away!

  3. I put a deposit down on a March 2017 cruise a few weeks ago and just asked my TA if I could get the 2nd perk added to our cruise due to this new promo and he came back with a price almost $400 (Canadian) more for my booking. I chose dining package as the second choice. Is this normal? Or do I need to start looking for a new TA? New to cruising so not familiar with how much I should expect from him.

    TIA

Rates change...sometimes daily-Keep checking-You should be able to rebook at your old rate. Also check with another TA. Sometimes TAs don`t feel like working...

  4. If you are just after final payment, you can cancel your booking and they will withhold 25%. Then make a new booking with the current promo. It could be worth it for you to pay the penalty it if allows you to go from zero perks to 2 perks.

Actually looking at going from 1 perk to 3 free perks... Booze, ports & 4 speciality dinners:)

Gotta be a way, yes, no, maybe so???

  5. Plat CCL cruzer here and we finally gave up on them. The George Lopez Comedy Club was the only thing that didn`t hurt to watch. Unfortunately, you had to go 45 mines early and stand in line just to get a decent seat. Tried RCCL-Fantastic entertainment, uneatable food-Costa-OK food-Venice and Adriatic (port intensive and LOTS of walking)went to bed after our great table-mates usually closed the dining room-Never saw one show.

Now trying NCL Star. We`ll see!

  6. I looks like the bed by the balcony is preferred, so that's what I ended up booking. I can definitely see why it would "seem" like a bigger room walking into a "space" instead of walking into the bed. I have had rooms like this and liked it better too. I just didn't know how it would feel on the Epic since the wavy wall is going to cut into that space no matter what.

Normally I dismiss posts like this as inane, But giving it a bit of thought, We`re going to book a bed-by-balc cabin Thanks for bringing this up!

  7. Yes this is the beach you get to after walking through the rock formations; however' date=' there is a much shorter and potentially less congested route through a path from the parking lot.

Yes, you could do that (parking lot), but you`d miss some spectacular scenery. I think this girl is there every day...

  8. We did Costa Adriatic out of Venice in Oct. and bought the drink pkg as it`s so much cheaper over there, than in the Caribe. One of the neat things was we tried new and different wild name drinks, that we might not normally try. We came across a fellow that had a long list and would scratch off one wild drink at a time. Now we have the NCL freebie and are thinking of doing this in March. I did a non-productive search-so:

Does anybody have a extensive list of cocktails, that you care to share? TIA

  9. It looks like the March 13 cruise was the only one where they flipped the order of the ports. Maybe there were too many ships scheduled for Belize City that day so they had so change the ports just for that one. We're on the March 20th Dawn sailing and the simply swapped out Harvest Caye for Belize City on the same day.

Nope, they switched the March 6th Star`s itinerary as well.

  10. It''s as safe as any large US city, if you don't like it stay on the ship that day, or take an NCL excursion, half of them never go near the mainland anyway.

I feel that your post is bad advice. We`ve been there 5 times (always had a non-ship organized tour-usually Caye Caulker) and 2 times pax members, from our ship, were assaulted outside the gated port area (which is safe). Found this with a quick search from The State Department:

Due to the small population (335,000) and high murder rate per capita, Belize consistently ranks among the top 10 in the world for homicides, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, with an average of around 40 homicides per 100,000 residents. After setting an all-time record in 2012 for homicides at 145, the number of murders significantly decreased to 99 in 2013. However, in 2014 the number of murders rose to 121. The Belize District, which includes Belize City, continues to have the highest number of murders in the country, due in large part to dozens of street gangs that operate in the city.

I also find it interesting that NCL did not release the delay news until after March cruisers had made final payment.

I`ll still have fun, but it will cost me more than HC would have. (no free drinks or free food) plus water taxi.

  11. Just checked my vacation summary for the Getaway in September, and it says Belize City... Honestly, I like Going there. It's closer to Ambergris Caye where I usually go for the day...

Sid-We usually go to Caye Caulker, but Ambergris sounds interesting. Caulker is very rural and slow-dirt roads, pigs and roosters here and there. Is Ambergris much bigger and built up?
