Are they as lax about carry on liquor at the Pan am port as they are at the Carnival dock. Last time on CCL we bought a liter at a store in the terminal and just carried it in. No questions. TIA
-
TA-All the way! We use a large national company. Oy Vay...Ya think I could remember their name:confused: Ours saved us $400. plus a $75. OBC.
-
BTW, you can pull the booking from a PVP and transfer it to a TA.
-
We have always got at least a $100. OBC. PVPs won`t give you anything. Nothing against them, but $$$ is $$$!

This whole American attitude of "If I get hurt it's somebody else's fault" is just ridiculous. If you slip because you are stupid enough to wear flip flops on a wet floor that's just your own stupidity and nobodies fault but your own.
A true American Shame, and it on the rise. The floor could`ve been wet for seconds before the fall. It could have been on a cruz ship, a medical center lobby, Hooters- anywhere. If they totally ignored it-YES, but I`ve seen too many wet spots.........Uh um........and yellow cones aboard to have any sympathy for said party. I`ll beat up on Carnival for their pricing antics, slowly cutting back on this and that perk, but geeeze, free cruz-SORRY!!! No Way!!!

On a recent 8 day Sunshine cruz, we missed 1st stop Aruba (high winds) and stopped at Bonaire and GT. From setting sail to 1st land was almost 4 straight sea days and 2 more on the way back.
That was too much.
Usually 2 sea days, split up works great for me, plus I ran out of my smuggled Rhum

Marginal lost liquor sales, the last night of the cruise.I don't understand it 1 bit.
Lost Obscene Profit ain`t how CCL rolls and I`ll take you up on that bet!
-
Again, I say CCL puts profit 1st and Customer Service 2nd or 3rd. I`ve had to do this morning thing before and it truly is a hassle. Not practical, lot of trouble for guests! Actually I would expect Carnival to treat guests better.GOD forbid, somebody cracks that bottle at 9PM for a night cap.....................

All grocery stores sell Gatorade in powder form.Am I the only one who brings gatorades on board to help hydrate after all the time in the sun? This creates a pretty big problem for me.I know they sell Powerade on board but that stuff tastes terrible and is grossly marked up.
I am very disappointed in this new policy..

Here`s a view from our balc:
-
We had a CB on the Breeze and Dream. Loved them. Try to get just under guest services or same spot on other side (think it was 2290). There a big gap overhead between life boats. The sound of the waves lapping against the hull was intoxicating...or was it the Rhum?

I second this question

Just another example of CCL putting profit b/4 customer service. I`ve seen 12 packs of H2O at the grocery store at a similar price, so I`m sure they would not lose money honoring the price mistake. They just refuse to not make an obscene profit on anything aboard. SOP

I believe we met you and your wife at a M&G on one of our cruises and we shared a golf cart with you on Grand Turk. We had a great time and maybe we'll meet again on another cruise.
yeppers that was fun!
I am guilty of dropping out of our Sunshine roll call due to a poster who I loathe here deciding to take the same cruise. So if you're referring to me, I apologize. Hope you and the missus had a great cruise, I know we did (except for missing Aruba of course). :)No not you, but a series of pax on 3 or 4 threads that post a lot, make promises, etc. and disappear. Shame we never got to meet

Look Away!Perhaps it is your accent? :DI'll be on Sunshine later this year and will make it a "point" to look for potato sticks.
Man, I read some of your other posts...Cut back on the coffee by at least 1/2 or more-Be Happy!
-
Guy's doesn't serve onion rings - they make a burger with an onion ring. There is nothing wrong with the staff's English but I'm not so sure about the customer's. :p
Haven't looked recently, but the topping bar has always had potato sticks. And I prefer the thick bacon pieces at the topping bar to the bacon thing they put on the Pig Patty.
6 weeks ago/Sunshine-No potato sticks!!! I do more pointing than speaking on most cruzs!

But it's all OK because it increases the bottom line and keeps the shareholders happy. Ya know, it's really pathetic that all this society has become is "all about the money." Sadly, being "all about the money" has also come at almost any means necessary. Long gone are the days of a company actually being HONEST with the consumer. Seems like it's screw the customer no matter how you can to make the almighty dollar. Capitalism may have started as a great idea, but has become something else entirely.
Your point is insipid, pointless and without any merit. We cruz and we all know that the staff is WAY underpaid, with poor or pathetic benefits. It is---what it is
-
You REALLY wanted more of those soggy, greasy fries? No judgment but I love the Burgs (ask for no fries but their English ain`t so great) and really miss the potato sticks!

Precisely wise, in October, we`re headin towards Jolly ole London for 5 days. We need a cruz break...Maybe we should all take an October (or any month) cruz break an let that lard butt & company know who`s really in charge...US (You an Me) & OUR $$$
BTW:
Hurricane Katrina
Carnival Ecstasy docked in New Orleans
Three of the Carnival cruise ships were chartered by the United States government for six months to serve as temporary housing in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Holiday was originally docked in Mobile, Alabama, and later Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Ecstasy and Sensation were docked at New Orleans, Louisiana. The six-month contract cost $236 million. The contract was widely criticized because the vessels were never fully utilized, and Carnival received more money than it would have earned by using the ships in their normal rotation.
Controversies
The company has reportedly been paying wages under $1.50 per hour to employees with low to nonexistent benefits such as holidays or minimal vacations. Monthly salaries of the high paid workers is around $1,300. Of course, the crew wages are supplemented by gratuities, and one former Carnival crew member cited that crew receive up to 95% of their income from tips. Employees report strenuous working conditions such as 14-hour shifts with no days off. As of October 2013, they are also revoking retirement benefits.

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting how some distain the online chat, yet want to interact with peeps. Others LOVE the online yack for as much as a year, but have no desire to meet a real human being, that they`ve shared family stories, personal preferences, island fantasies, off color jokes, food favs, cabin picks, an a bunch more.
People are a funny lot...just when I think I got it figured out-They Amaze me!
G`nite an Happy sailing!

WOW-I posted a general question and got several different responses relating to Socio-Dynamics.
This is really going to impact the way I chat with peeps on the roll call in the future.
Frankly, I`m disappointed at cruzers that milk info, excursion tips, $$ saving short-cuts, but have no interest in Human Interaction.
I guess I`m feeling a tad disenchanted that F2F is so repulsive or intimidating, even worse BORING.
I`m going to have a much more jaded approach to the R/C room if I even join at all.

We all know how engaging the roll calls can get. New members, funny posts, group excursions, etc.
2 outta the last 3 roll calls (pretty active) there was an active poster that just disappeared 2-3 weeks before departure. One time this nice guy would regularly put out fantastic pics for months and Poof-He was gone. Never again on the thread and not on the ship.
Could it be, that some folks enjoy the roll calls so much they just want to chat with other cruzers, even though no trip is planned???

Be very careful with taxis in St marten. There are quite a few disreputable taxi drivers. One guy quoted me a $ figure and at destination it was about twice as much. I refused, paid the original amount and he got POed. He actually followed us about a block and luckily a police officer intervened. I think that there are licensed taxis with a certificate on their windshield. He must not been one. I`ve read other stories in the past.
Is Costa that much worse than Carnival
in Ask a Cruise Question
Posted
We`re looking at a Venice/Greek Isles cruz on a couple of Costa ships and the reviews are kinda spooky.
Any experience out there that have done both? TIA
