The Navigator app is completely different from Internet pricing. You don't need an Internet package to use the Navigator app while aboard, including the links to the New York Times and other external sites.

Yes, but the information that was originally posted in Post #24 implied that you needed the Navigator app (which I have) to access the Internet package, so I am confused. Thank you for the pricing information, though. We have had the Internet package in the past, but it was before the Navigator app existed. Would like to avoid the "kicking the other device off" when using a 2nd device, so will probably get the upgrade to the more than one device plan.

We wanted multiple devices, so when another device attempted to access the internet (note we had to be logged in to the same HAL Navigator account), we got the pop-up that it was $60 for up to 4 devices.

Some questions: Is the $60 for the whole cruise or will it vary based on how many days you are cruising? You mention that more than one person must be signed into the same HAL Navigator account at the same time to use multiple devices. I thought each person had to have his/her separate account to use the Navigator. Is this incorrect? Thanks for any info.

  3. Those are the default requests if you don't check the request boxes at the end of your online reservation booking. It is easy to miss if you don't go all the way to the bottom of the final booking page. You get to choose  the late seating if you want, and if you do not want an automatic upgrade. If you miss the box, you automatically get "early" dinner assignment and "yes" to an upgrade. As oaktreeb mentioned above, if you definitely want the cabin you chose, you need to remove the upgrade request. You cannot do this online, unfortunately...must call or chat.

  4. Thank you very much. I have looked at those pages in the past, but it might have been when I wasn't thinking about "tub locations"! 😀

P.S. I have another question: about restrooms. I am looking at the bottom deck with the main dining room. I only see one restroom in the front of the ship, across from the Medical Center. Is that available for use by guests? Seems kind of far to travel; otherwise I only see restrooms on the deck above the dining room.

The original cabins have new bathrooms and have been spiffed up some but are largely unchanged.

From some videos I've seen it looks like the materials in the original non-star balcony bathrooms have been updated, but they still have the bath/shower tubs rather than the new star cabin shower stalls with no tub. If they still have the tub, are there "gripper bars" attached to the walls as there used to be per older pix of the cabins? Thanks for any info.

You still need the World Card to get in/out of the port gates.

Yes, I know. You still have to take it with you for that, but the facial recognition is still handy getting on/off the ship. They don't use the facial recognition if you can get off/on the ship and directly be outside of any other check points, such as in Juneau, AK.

  7. We arrived home last week after our first Oceania cruise on the Regatta in 4043. We loved the ship, service, personnel, and the cabin (it was very quiet, except for those who continuously let their cabin door slam). However, we did not like the small bathroom and shower. How do others tolerate the layout? We are used to larger bathrooms, even in small cabins on larger ships. I realize that the cabin size itself only allows a certain amount of room for the bath area, but we will probably not book a C1 class cabin again and would have to upgrade to a larger cabin at a higher cost if we want to travel on Oceania again, which may not be possible. We did love our Alaska cruise, though!

In Post #105, @Petronillus showed information received from HAL. If you follow the link that is included, you will see a grid that might prove helpful. It is page 2.

Try as I might, I can't get that grid or link to show up here. Perhaps someone that is more tech savvy can accomplish this.

The only thing I see on page 2 below the masking "update" on page 1 is the cruise itinerary.

We got the above email on 11 June for our 17 July cruise.  Interestingly, we have NOT received the backpedaling message posted above by Petronillus.....

We got both; the second one a few days ago (June 17th) for our September 14-day cruise. We do not go to Whittier. Now I'm really confused!!

  10. I wanted to ask another tipping question, but this topic has drifted since the first post. I skimmed and searched but I could not find out if diners usually tip after dining in a Specialty Restaurant? I know the daily gratuity covers room and regular dining servers, but what about in the Specialties? Thanks for any tips/info.

Of course it would if they have time. Someone already suggested an antigen test two days before. But if there isn’t time to do before flight and they are concerned about after flight. Then a PCR 3 days before might be worth it.

Sorry. I had seen the previous comment about an antigen test, but it seemed to imply getting it on Friday at the Vancouver Airport and they didn't have time for that. I wasn't sure that they understood that they could also get one on Friday AM that would be valid for the cruise.

You could also get PCR test at home the day before your flight. It would be expensive, but maybe the hassle is worth the price. PCR tests are okay 3 days before cruise if you are up to date with your vaccinations. Check HAL website.

Wouldn't an antigen test at a home location before their flight on Friday also be ok for a Sunday cruise? That works out to 2 days (if up to date on vax).

According to photos and comments, the one place you don’t want to get tested for your flight is the Vancouver Airport. There is a test site in Canada Place, across the street at the Fairmont and at the Convention Center next to Canada Place. If you have an afternoon flight, you will be okay testing at airport. But for early flights, the comments on another forum mentioned 3 hours. Two waiting in line and 45 minutes for results. You need the results before checking in.

Do you know if you still have to stand in the long line at the airport if you have a pre-booked appointment?

As a reminder to those that lose their phone the first step is to have someone call the phone. It might be in your pocket or someone nearby will pick it up and tell you the location.   I have been on one too many excursions which were needlessly turned around because someone didn’t take this simple step.

So you've been on excursions where they return to a previous stop because someone's phone is missing? That seems rude to the rest of the travelers...😒

  15. Thanks for this information. I did know about the new dock, but not about the difficulties. Do you know if you have to go to the downtown to go on ship-booked excursions, or do they leave from the new pier? Oops! I just noticed you mentioned "tour buses" were at the building after your walk from the ship...

  16. I know this has been discussed here before, but now I am getting worried because my latest cruise information from O emphasizes the "48 hour" time for an antigen test. Has anyone been challenged that their test 2 days before a cruise was more than 48 hours, such as 52 hours, and so invalid? Our test is scheduled for 10am on the Saturday before our Monday cruise. I don't know when our boarding time will be, but I'm sure it's not 10am on Monday. Oceania's original statement about the 48 hours had a chart that just said the test needed to be done on "Saturday", no time listed. Appreciate any comments/information.

I carry two test kits from Optum with me in case I cannot find a test location.  There is a test location in the Vancouver airport but I have not found it yet.

Most passengers would gladly pay for a test while onboard if HAL offered it.

I believe the test location is near the check-in area for the US airlines near the entrance to the Fairmont Hotel. Not sure of the name of the provider, though.
