  1. It may be that club dining is full and therefore you’re waitlisted, meanwhile currently confirmed as freedom.
  2. I think if it was going to happen it would have already been done in her first dry dock like Royal and Regal Princess.
  3. Not usually. Montenegro calls in their own right are popular.
  4. Primarily the five year dry dock is a chance to shut the ship down, do the mandatory maritime checks (like an MOT for your car), repaint the hull and do any heavy maintenance on the parts below the water line, or that never stop operating. If the hotel division decides to do any major renovation/reconfiguration then this happens at the same time but is not usually the primary purpose. A full timetable of minor redecoration works is planned and the crew are kept busy - many often doing very different jobs to usual. I’m not aware of specifics regarding the refits. It’s Iona’s first so that usually means dealing with any major warranty issues. Britannia is going to be nine years old so will be dealing with any residual warranty issues. Any feature enhancements to the passenger areas are usually announced through specific social/web announcements. Bear in mind, big changes are not the norm.
  5. All planned and scheduled into current program. Unlike US lines, no cruises get cancelled to dry dock. Britannia 5-21 April 2024 Arcadia 7-25 November 2024 Iona 13 March - 1 April 2025 Azura 7-27 March 2025 provisionally Aurora 5-21 April 2025
  6. @xAlanox Thank you got your honest comments. Please formally feed them back to head office. You are entitled to a pro-rata refund of your holiday so make sure you get that.
  7. Also on the Cunard ship, there was no collision, no damage therefore no need to offload passengers. A tug responded quick enough. I gather from talking to people that a tug was on its way to intercept Britannia but didn’t get there in time. So action WAS being taken.
  8. Correct @Megabear2. There are officials from the island quoted as being surprised at the way the weather formation gathered quickly and blew in and across Palma. They are quoted as saying it did not match the forecast.
  9. Please remember it’s still peak season in Palma so hotel rooms are few and far between. I believe that the hotels chosen were the hotels with capacity. Not an excuse if conditions are truely unacceptable but certainly the reason that 320 people haven’t been put in 4/5 star hotels.
  10. So a proper investigation is already underway. It may be that everything was done properly and we move on, it may be that there are learnings. Either way, as a responsible operator, the questions will be asked and facts determined. P&O are the responsible party. Their ship hit another, which was still. I’m not aware of P&O shirking that. It may be that whilst they are responsible, no party is to blame. If everyone did their jobs fully and correctly but it was just a freak set of circumstances that occurred quickly then no one else can may have done a better job. One final thought. The bridge is manned 24/7, I don’t know whether arrangements were already being made to get a tug, adjust the lines or move from the berth.
  11. So agreed that it is an upgrade, albeit a small one. If you’re not too early to bed, then I think it’s good.
  12. G221 isn’t obstructed by a lifeboat. It is above the theatre though. Where we’re you previously?
  13. Currently it’s proceed as usual.
  14. Southampton’s airport is finished but can still only take a 737, which is 162 people. Understand Bournemouth is to be used. Some people were asked to leave because of cabin location relative to broken lifeboats. If they refused, others were asked. I suspect someone did the British thing of assuming as asked that they had to say yes and never considered saying no! Passengers we’re told that it was likely to be a Wednesday flight home.
  15. Not of late. Since Covid, it’s been x% of what you paid. I don’t believe P&O adjust for part taxes as P&O don’t charge them separately.
  16. Anyone travelling on a non commercial fare is likely to have been asked to leave the ship first. There are always head office staff/contractors travelling for work and or pleasure and it’s known that you get booted off first if necessary.
  17. I believe those passengers who requested to be flown home were granted their wish.
  18. I understand that the 20% FCC was only the compensation element. I expect this to be offered shipwide but can’t confirm at this stage. Anyone leaving the ship will also be entitled to a pro-rata refund under the standard terms and conditions, plus all arrangements made and paid for them back to Southampton. They may get a slightly better compensation element for the added inconvenience.
  19. The guest being moved from deck 8 are initially those in close proximity of impacted lifeboats. They are obstructed cabins and additional fixings/tarps may be put over the lifeboats to secure them.
  20. My understanding is that whilst anyone may be asked to fly home, if you can’t fly, have a medical reason, or specifically cruise to avoid flying then accommodations will be made to find someone else. This is different to if the whole ship having to be flown home when the option to remain would not be possible. A team from Southampton is now in Palma to run the repatriation, which may take a couple of days and involve guests overnighting in a hotel.
  21. It will be a dedicated charter flight im told. P&O will pick up the full tab including luggage charges. Correct - those who cannot fly won’t be forced. I’ve seen no notice that it’s cancelled yet. I would be expecting reduced capacity (if it was full).
  22. If it’s a heart attack and that time critical, it’s followed by the reason, deck x, zone y, port/starboard side. Leave no ambiguity of where assistance is required. An officer also attends to dispel ‘tourists’.
  23. It’s understandable some won’t want to continue and instead fly home. A team are already en route from Southampton to assist.
  24. P&O use plain English for Medical calls given out in full.
