  1. Still doesn't make sense, Too easy to stop in Bermuda or Bahamas. Also, NCL giving the staff a break so they can can get a little vacation is waaaay different than anything I've seen or heard. They work those men and women to exhaustion.

The ship leaves on the 20th, and arrives in NYC the 22nd... there is NO possible way to stop anywhere. Never said it was intentionally done to give them a break, I said they are excited they finally will be getting a break.

  2. How do you know this- that ship is sailing empty.

Given the date it leaves Miami, and the date it arrives in New York, there is no possible way they could operate a cruise, since there has to be at least one international port stop. I also have friends who work onboard who have confirmed as they are excited because they finally get a break to enjoy the ship to themselves.

  3. Welcome to all December 28, 2018 Escape cruisers! Let's cruise on into the New Year of 2019 on this amazing cruise! I didn't see a Roll Call previously made so I decided to make one!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Robbie O. You may have seen me on FB or on YouTube. I am so happy to be sailing on this cruise! [emoji1]

Let's get to know each other!

  4. OK, so I'm fairly certain I know the answer to this, but JUST in case I missed some big secret....there's no other way to get Latitude points other than sailing, right? At the end of our cruise in October, we will be one short to getting to the next level; I was just curious if there's any other way to earn (just ONE, haha) latitude points. You know, like you can buy extra airline miles....? It's no big deal at all, and I don't think jumping a level is worth buying any points but I figured I would ask if there's other ways to get them. Thanks!

Sail in the Haven and you get double! Or, book a latitudes inside offer, or book a sailing applicable to the extra point per night promo!

  5. Thanks!

Does anyone know when Captain Cutugno started his rotation? From Doug's live thread, it appears he's onboard right now. From there I can do the math.

Captain Cutugno signed onto the Escape and started his 10 weeks ok June 24th.

  6. Is there any way of knowing who the Captain on the Escape will be for our November 18th cruise? Also, what kind of rotation do NCL Captains do? I know with Royal Caribbean is a 10-week on/10-week off rotation. The only reason I ask is because I've seen that Captain Giovanni Cutugno has been Master on the Escape. He was the Captain for our Honeymoon cruise on the Carnival Liberty in 2010. We really enjoyed sailing with him and I'd love do it again, plus I'd get a kick out of letting him know we sailed with him on our honeymoon. Thanks!

NCL Captains run a 10 on 10 off schedule. The Captain will either be Captain Persson or Captain Cutugno. Bon Voyage!

  7. I have always laughed to myself (while reaching for the popcorn:rolleyes:) when someone negatively refers to a poster as a Norwegian Loyalist. Why is that a bad thing? We find something we like and stick with it....but now I guess I am having loyalist guilt. DH and I just booked a Viking Ocean as our first TA.

We have been planning this trip for a few years as our big retirement celebration and get us to Europe for six months so we can check out where we want to live (since unless those folks in DC get their act together we don't think know what health insurance is going to cost) and the budget and planning has always been based on taking a Norwegian ship and using points from our Norwegian credit card to upgrade to a balcony from a more affordable stateroom. However, with the exception of Epic where we don't have that option, the pricing on the other TAs meant we weren't getting good value for our points. So since we were going to be paying a higher dollar for the balconies we started to consider a suite - some of which were relatively reasonably priced.....but then we happened to discover that for less money we could sail on Viking Ocean and be in a balcony on a smaller ship with perhaps better food and better service. We love the aesthetics of Viking and not having a casino isn't an issue for us and it means we get to start our trip a month earlier...so off we go!

I won't be entirely MIA from Norwegian since it appears we will be on Norwegian for our return in Fall of 2018. We figure by then we will be over celebrating and an inside cabin will be just fine! LOL

anyway....anyone else had this feeling of guilt and did you miss that, "I'm home" feeling when you boarded a non-Norwegian ship?

    Nice!! Which VO ship?

  8. Hi what is the best way to get to Hamilton for Harbor night. Should i take the ferry or pay $25 for one of the tour boats and they will pick us up at 630 and take us and get us 2 hours later at 9. Thanks.

Take the ferry at 6:30 and you can probably be back to Dockyard by 9ish and take a walk around there. It's beautiful at night.

  9. I'm wondering if any Haven folks know/are willing to ask if Edgar plans to be on the Breakaway next summer when it is in the Baltics. Thinking of booking and Edgar would make it a no-brainer! Thanks!

Aww, I love Edgar as well!! Would be nice for him to be there when I am there next year as well!
